Allison of Williamson, NY June 6, 2008

I have been taking Lamictal for approx. 2years, for Bi-Polar. I emailed GSK regarding this medication and explained the problems I am having with it. The pills are an odd shape, have no coating, dissolve almost instantly and are extremely bitter. I told them that when I try to swallow them, I gag & choke on them on a regular basis. I asked why they can't have a coating, a different shape or something, anything, that will make it easier to take? I received a response by US Mail asking for me to sign a consent form so that they could speak with the doctor who prescribes my medication. I emailed back & asked why they wouldn't just answer my questions? I said I don't want to sign any consent forms. They sent me back a letter via US Mail again. Same as last time, except the wording was to the effect..since we haven't heard back from you, we are following up....

Well, why do they need to talk to my doctor? Why can't they just answer me? I can't keep taking this medicine if it chokes me. I have tried all kinds of different ways to take it so I won't gag & choke, but inevitably, many times had to spit out the medicine or choke it down. I've also tried taking it with my other medications at the same time, only to end up spitting all of them into the sink. I am at a point now where just thinking about taking any of my meds makes me gag.

parnate and lamictal, made by gsk, were reformulated in 2007 just like nardil. i started to become depressed again and my social anxiety came back. also, i was hospitalized because the new parnate and lamictal made me sick. i had headaches, dizzyness, neck and back pains. i called gsk and the fda and they denied changing the drugs at first. my life has been ruined.

I was on lamictol for about 2 months complained of server headache then I went off of them because I couldnt handle the headache. My deppression gotten worse so I went back to the doctor and he put me back on the lamitol for about another 3months and then I had the headaches return and then I gotten confused as though I had alzhimers. after that I went back to the hospital to detox off of lamitol. I still have some residual effects from the meds. tremors, and nervousness.

I was in the hospital for almost a week. my husband had to stay home to watch the kids while I went to the hospital. I am considering going to a nuerologist to see if there is any extentsive damage from the medicine

Sue of Black Mountain, NC January 18, 2009

My husband was on lamictal for 2 years for the treatment of bi-polar. He committed suiicide 7/8/08.

Bill and I owned a construction company that builds custom houses. For the past year before his death he had no caution or rational on his business ventures, hence he left the company in a financial crisis which my son and I are still trying to pull out of. He was very aggitated and short temper during this time. It was a big strain on our relationship.
