In my opinion, Crestor taken as prescribed has caused me permanent muscle damage! The pain has reduced some since I stopped taking it on my doctors advice but it is a constant problem. This product and all stains should be stopped!

I have been takeing crestor about 2 yr. question the Dr. about it saftey. of course it is ok at I now have had r knee surg. going up steps heard a loud pop. Surg on 09/09 torn alc. will be bed fast tow monthe

I was prescribed Crestor for high cholestoral and told not to worry, side effects are rare. I began experiencing side effect symptoms (muscle weakness, stomach pain and more). I expressed concern to doctor but told can't be Crestor and to continue with prescription.
5 months ago I had a severe eruption of stomach and side pain, like appendicitis. Was sent for many expensive medical tests which showed nothing. Months later after no diagnosis and worsening pain I went to Nurse with highlighted crestor side effects and asked her to seriously consider the possibility.
Although again told highly unlikeley, the proper CPK level blood test was taken and discovered I had Rhobdomyolosyis. A severe side effect from Crestor. Skeletal muscle breakdown. Physically I had weak muscles, hip/joint pain which then developed into disableing stomach, side and back pain.
Could not function normally, scared to death, chronic pain, fear, anxiety and depression over undiagnosed syptoms. I missed a week's worth of work and paid for many doctor visits, CAT Scans and Ultra Sounds which were unlikely necessary if CPK level had been tested first.

My doctor has prescribed about every statin product from Crestor to Vitorin and I strongly recommend everyone avoid them all. Change your diet.
I had such severe muscle problems and pain my doctor took me off all of them. That was six months ago and i am still on muscle relaxers just to maintain a normal lifestyle. The muscle damage is still a problem and i will never take a statin again.

I am 61 and have had an active life(several painful injuries) but I started taking Crestor 5 days ago and had muscle pain the 2nd day. Today i got up and have had all day long the worst pain in all of my upper muscles i have ever experienced. Could not even go to work, called dr and said this is common with statins and to stop immediately. More bad news, dr says it will take a few days for the pain to go away.
This junk should not be allowed on the market and if so it should come with morphine or some pain killer included. In my research i found that it can cause permanent muscle damage. How on earth did the FDA approve this.
Not only am i out of work a few days and not able to sleep or even lay down but the excrutiating pain is almost unbearable. I took every pain killer in the house but not much help.

I was experiencing a very fast heart beat with palpatations. When i went to Colorado on vacation I nearly passed out when climbing stairs. I made an appointment with a cardiologist as i thought i was having a heart attack. I accidently forgot to take the crestor and i found i was feeling better. I decided to see if they way I was feeling had anything to do with the drug so I stopped taking it. I have not been experiencing the racing heart beat since i stopped. I feel so much better.
I thought i was having a heart attack!

I started Crestor in 11/06 and by Feb 07 I could barely move. I thought I was really sick with the flu or something. When I finally took matters to the doctor, they thought I had something else so blood tests were ordered. It was then discovered that my cpk was over 900. Cause ??? Crestor.
extreme pain throughout my body. I could barely walk or move around. Lifting somethng as small as a glass of milk was extremely painful. I have been off Crestor now since Feb 07 but am still experiencing the side effects and am told it will take weeks even months for the pain to subside and to return to normal. I have not been able to work for months ( was previously taken off statins due to pain). I hope someday to be back to normal......but I wonder if it will ever happen

The doctor put me on Crestor and within one week I was having severe neck cramps and headaches. He took me off and the symptoms subsided so he put me back on and the symptoms returned. At that point I demanded a switch to another statin, which has had no side effects.
