My mother took Avandia for several years and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which she died from. I want to know if this medicine caused her cancer.

Iwas prescribed avandia 4mg od for 2years then 8mg od for 9 months and I suffered from left ventricular falure,pulmonary hypertension,inflamation and fibrosis of liver and abdominal distension and osteoporosis and compression fracture of lumbar spine, fracture of ankle and fracture of hand each fracture with interval of 6 months.During its use there was chest pain ,shortness in breathing, itching,muscular weakness, fatigue and yellow color of skin and bone pain and degradation of bones and sinusitis and increased my ANA [ marker of liver damage or immune] system.
wastage of money [to buy early death] and it made my life miserable and every time worried about my liver and heart and lungs as it caused fibrosis.
I was prescribed avandia and took it for about a year. After having chest pains i had to do the stress test and was put into the hospital for a cathorization. After the heart specialist determined my heart was ok he told me to stop taking the medication. Several thousand dollars later!
Between the loss work,medical bills and the stress that in my opinion caused by Avandia I am now in good shape but no more meds.
i was recently diagonzed with congested heart failure after taking Avandia. I am 72 years old.

I was put on Avandia several years ago and was told by my doctor not tobe concerned about weight gain. That was 80 lbs ago. I was told yesterday to stop taking Avandia.
Yesterday, I saw my doctor to discuss results of my bone density scan. I now have Ostepenia and my legs are severely swollen. I have trouble breathing and Ihave developed sleep apnea.
My mentally retarded brother Arthur died from a very aggressive pancreatic cancer; from time of diagnosis to death was 5 days. Arthur had been on the drug Avandia. i have tried to get information on adverse effects of Avandia, but everything is on heart attacks. Since Avandia works on the pancreas to prompt it to produce insulin, I strongly believe that this drug had an adverse effect on Arthur's pancreas.
Could you please help me or point me to a necessary web site to get the necessary information? Any help you could provide me would be extremely appreciated. Arthur was 59 years old and had been taking Avandia for over 5 years. At my request, he was taken off of it last October due to all the negative literature published on this drug.
I was put on Avandia for type 2 diabetes at least two years ago. I started having dizzyness and blackout spells not long after. These went on for many months. My Dr. said he didn't know what caused them. When the dizziness resolved, I would be in Atrial fibrillation, which usually resolved on it's own in a matter of hours. Three or four times I went to the ER where they got it resolved in from 1 to 3 days. The last time, in July of 2007, it did not resolve and still hasn't. I was told at that time I had Congestive Heart Failure also and am being treated for that now. I also had pneumonia for the first time in my life.
I now have cellulitis in both legs with open draining sores, and am being treated at a wound clinic. I am also on many drugs which I think make things worse. I am unable to go outside much now as I am short of breath and use Oxygen at night now. Since I stopped the Avandia on my own (my Dr. denied it could cause any of this) I have not had a single dizzy spell or blackout. I now take 10 units of Insulin nightly.
I was prescribed to take Avandia this year and haven't had good results.
My blood pressure is so elevated that they cannot get it down, never have I had water retention and my feet are swelling. I had to resign from job because of the small size nonprofit they couldn't continue to give me the time to get better. I had no clue it was Avandia until recent studies. I have since been removed since the media has made this public.
I was on Avandia and became short of breath. Chronicaly. I came OFF IT IMMEDIATELY! and if anyone tells you other wize Run! don't walk to another Dr if you want to live.The Diabetic Dr told me I had done the right thing, but the cadiologist said he was just fine with Avandia. I told him he should be relieved of his licence to practice.
It cost me a great deal as I had to have a radiation stress test on my heart,and as the Dr pointd out had I still been on the drug I would have died!!! wonderful eh!
My Mother is currently in the hospital in congestive heart failure. She was taking AVANDIA a couple of years ago and stopped due to some negative reports at the time.
My Mom went in for surgery to remove cancerous tumors on May 14, 2007, but the surgeons were not able to remove the tumors due to my Mothers failing heart. With the reports in the news regarding AVANDIA, I just thought that I should report what is currently happening. I am not aware if the Doctors have related her congestive heart failure to the usage of AVANDIA as I have not received a call back from her Doctor since learning of these possible issues. I do know that my Mother is not currently on the medication.
At this point, the Doctors are planning to send my Mother home with Hospice as her heart will not take any additional treatments or surgery.
Started taking avandia over 1 year ago, had heart attack November 2006 have been told somewhat anemic still have me taking 8mg per day
