Friedman's - Loose Stones



Luevern of Sanford FL (11/22/04):
I paid for 3 rings from Friedman's. Each ring's stones fell out. I didn't buy the insurance. So this came out my pocket. One ring was a pearl. The pearl fell out so mant times, I paid for them to put a prong on it. That didn't work. They were nice enought to exchange it for another ring, which the stone also fell out of.

I also brought a diamond bracelet from them -- the diamond fell out and the bracelet came apart. I took it back and didn't want the bracelet, but the saleswoman gave me another one. Before I could return it, it broke in 2 places. I found the other parts in my car.

I think they are selling cheap jewelry to poor people with bad credit.

My husband purchased a ring for me as a Christmas gift in 2000. Three months after the purchase two of the diamonds came out. I took the ring back and showed it to them, and they said it was past the 90-day period and I would have to pay to get it fixed. I don't mind paying to fix it, it's the principle of the matter. They should not sell merchandise that way. I know I will never buy anything else from them.

The ring is in my jewelry box, where it will stay until I decide to fix it myself. How do they get away with this? I should stick it in a lemon and put it in front of their building. I did not know this web site was here,or I would have sounded off a long time ago.

I purchased an Opal ring for my wife for our anniversay. Well, last week one of the Opals fell out (there were three stones in all). When my wife took it back to the store to have the stone replaced she was informed that there would be a charge for this. This ring was not a cheap ring and I bought it in "good faith", not ever expecting it to be in other than A-l condition.

My wife was told that the jeweler would be in the store today and someone would call. Needless to say, no one called. She waited until almost 3PM and when she called was told that it would cost $120 to replace the stone and do the prong work. I feel that the prong work should have been done correctly in the beginning so we would not be having this problem now. I do not see where I should have to pay for this repair that was obviously due to shoddy workmanship. The ring cost over $300 however I purchased it for $190.

Allen of Mountain Pine AR (6/7/02):
I first purchased a ring and the diamonds kept falling out of the ring. It was repaired several times and each time the same thing happened. I then purchased another ring which was twice the price of the first ring. The payments on the first ring were all supposed to be transfered, but I don't believe they all were. In addition the salesperson told me that if I paid an additional $100 upfront that my payments would not change from the amount of the first ring.

I then asked about returning the ring, she then told me that it would ruin my credit. Why I paid for the months that I had the ring and now that I am dissatisfied with the service it will hurt my credit to return it and just not get a refund?
