Friedman's Jewelers

Friedman's is the third largest jewelry retailer in the country. The Georgia-based company likes to say it is the largest chain within the 20 Southeastern and Midwestern states where most of its 681 stores are located.

The company says it has established itself as the "Value Leader" by offering a broad array of quality merchandise at competitive prices. It has also skillfully located its stores in high traffic locations where its target audience shops. All this sounds great, although not all of Friedman's customers are dazzled by the service, quality and refund policies.

There've also been some questions about the chain's financing policies, including a class-action lawsuit and a challenge by the Attorney General of Texas.

Here are a few of the more recent complaints we've received:

I owed Friedman's about 369.00 which has been paid. They have yet to remove the derogatory credit file from my credit report. What can I do to have it removed.

I am unable to rent an apartment or home because of the account.

My husband bought my wedding ring and band from Friedman's. This year will be our 5 year anniversary and my ring looks horrible. In the beginning we got all the proper diamond and gold warranties and insurances. Slowly my ring started to fade and yellow gold started showing through my ring that was supposed to be white gold. We took the ring back and we were told that all white gold fades and that you periodically have to have it polished. I have other jewelry that is white gold that I swim in and do everything in and it has never faded or needed to be polished.

Time and time again I had to keep taking my ring back for upkeep of the white gold. Today February 25, 2009 I decide to take the ring back again because its yellow and fading and to my surprise when I get there the store is gone!!! I am very disappointed that I am stuck with a ring that cost nearly 3500 and it looks like it came out of a bubble gum machine. I have no where to take it to be repaired and my biggest fear is that I'm going to find out that the diamond's probably aren't even real. If there is anyone out there that can help me find these Friedman's people and get my money back or sue please feel free to contact me. This is terrible and I feel even worse because my husband had already chosen a ring for me from Littman's Jewelers and I asked him to return that one and to buy me the set I saw in Friedman's. I feel so bad that he wasted his money getting me this junk ring. It's supposed to be 2ct total weight and it use to look really pretty and I got a lot of compliments on it but now it just looks faded and cheap.

Alexis of Wendell, NC February 18, 2009

I bought a 55 diamond wedding ring for my wife approximately 12 years ago with insurance and one of the diamond fell out. This company have closed their stores in this area and have filed bankruptcy without any procurement as to the insurance warranty repair service. My wife refuse to wear a ring that catches and destroy fabaric. This ring is suppose to be 2 carets. I carried it in to get it cleanned as to the instruction indicated which the stone was suppose to be checked and fixed.

Now there seem to be no recourse for me in this matter. There is not even a telephone number for corperate headquarter for Friedman Jewlers. Friedman company headquarter is suppose to be located in Sanvannah Ga. This product is no good to us now since it snairs fabric so we suffer a lost of use of this expensive ring!

I've bought stuff from them in the past and payed in full, what I don't understand is why do I still have a open account. The last I got something from them about 2003, an I have never got anything from them saying that I owe, trying to purchase a house and I find them still with a open account that's delinquent.

I'M RETIERED FROM THE NAVY SINCE 2005 AN UNTIL I TRIED TO PURCHASE A HOUSE I HAD KNOW IDEA HIGHER INTEREST RATES, DISAPPROVALS FROM UNDER LENDERS. I PUT IN 20 PLUS YEARS TO MY COUNTRY AND THIS IS WHAT I GET.
