Friedman's Jewelers

Friedman's is the third largest jewelry retailer in the country. The Georgia-based company likes to say it is the largest chain within the 20 Southeastern and Midwestern states where most of its 681 stores are located.

The company says it has established itself as the "Value Leader" by offering a broad array of quality merchandise at competitive prices. It has also skillfully located its stores in high traffic locations where its target audience shops. All this sounds great, although not all of Friedman's customers are dazzled by the service, quality and refund policies.

There've also been some questions about the chain's financing policies, including a class-action lawsuit and a challenge by the Attorney General of Texas.

Here are a few of the more recent complaints we've received:

I called to pick-up a ring that was being made for me and to my surprise I found out they have all closed down for bankrupt issues and they still have my ring that was being made. I need to know if I am going to get my ring returned to me any time soon. They never called to tell me the store was going to close down nor did I recieve amy letter stating that.

Is there a contact # that I can call to get info about the jewelry they still have of mine. I am sure I am not alone due to the letters I have read on-line. Could you please give me some info on how to get my jewelry back!

My son bought his girlfriend a ring with a warranty last x-mas from Freidmans. A couple months ago the stone fell out and they took it to the store and they told him they were going out of business to get his paperwork and call the number from the warranty and they would take care of it. I called for him and they told me they would send an envelope with some info on how to send it back to them. So, thats is what we did.

They asked for the warranty book to be sent in with the ring. The only thing we have is the original copy of the receipt! We have not heard from them and cannot find any numbers to call. The number we did have is with the ring and the warranty book!

My finace bought my diamond solitare 3 months ago & at that time purchased the lifetime warranty for an extra 100+. Now the store is closed & the white gold on the band has changed colors. Where am I supposed to take it/send it? We are fairly certain that the ring we selected in the store & sent off for sizing was a different ring than we recieved the following week.

We aren't sure how much it will cost to have it fixed.

my fiance' bought me an engagement ring in march 24, 08 we purchased the insurance incase anything happened to it and to pay for the sizing, (we sent it off to be sized up to and 8 and when i was called to pick it up it was sized down to a size 6, before the sizing i could atlease get it on my finger, at this point i couldn't even past my knuckle, so i had to wait another week to get it back again and i know that also took away from the value of the ring)

3 months later the band broke next to the stone on 1 side and i took it off so i wouldn't lose the stone, and i went to the mall to get it repaired and the store was closed, this was in june 08 i got the number to corporate office from the mall info center who said they closed a few months before that and that number as well as the store number has been disconnected no forwarding number

now i have a broken ring and paid extra insurance and cannot get it fix, at time of purchase i was not told the store would be closing and considering they closed only weeks after the purchase they must have known they would be closing, but they sold me the ring and the insurance with out informing me of the closure at the time i cannot find any info on how to get it fixed and i have an engagement ring i cannot wear.

and now i even wonder if it is real like i was told or if it is fake, but either way when you spend even 300 on a ring that you cannot wear to so you are engaged then i have had nothing but disappointment from this company
