RENTALS:   Consumer Complaints   A Renter's Guide

Vista De La Sierra Apartments

Sierra Vista AZ

Alanna of Tucson (1/29/04):
In December 2002, my fiance and I moved into Vista De La Sierra. We signed a 6 month lease. In June we decided to sign another 6 month lease. The first of November I informed Cora that we would no longer be tenants as of Dec 1st, that is when the trouble began. She brought out our lease agreement from june, and told me that we were going to be charged a fee for terminating our lease, I advised her that the lease was up at the end of november. The document was incorrect, it stated that we had signed a lease from june to dec, which would have been a 7 month lease which she advisesd they did not do. It's 6 months or 1 year leases.

Anyway, she threatened to charge me and keep my deposit. I told her that I would be contacting her corporate office and that I needed her to provide me that information, she would not. I went home, then my fiance went down to the office and informed her that there had been an obvious mistake within the lease agreement. She said she would take care of it, and then she did not speak with us again.

Also, as a side complaint: I had just gotten off of work and had an appointment with my personal trainer promptly at 4 pm, jon the maintainance man (also apartment manager) and another groundskeeper were inspecting locks on the apartment doors, he requested to inspect the lock, I told him that I was in a hurry for an apointment and I needed to change my clothes and to please wait 5 minutes until I had dressed until he entered my apartment.

He said he would not wait and followed me into my apartment, I was frightened at that point and very uncomfortable as he barged in after I had explained that I was going to be changing clothes. They were there for 10 minutes "inspecting the door" without an explaination.
