Signature Gourmet, Kitchen Gourmet Coffeemakers Recalled

Atico International USA is recalling about 500,000 Signature Gourmey and Kitchen Gourmet coffeemakers. These coffeemakers can ignite due to an electrical failure, posing a fire hazard.

Atico International USA, Inc. has received 23 reports of coffeemakers igniting, resulting in property damage. No injuries have been reported.

The coffeemakers, made in China, were sold at Walgreens stores nationwide: the Signature Gourmet™ 12-Cup programmable coffeemaker from June 2004 through March 2009 for about $20 and the Kitchen Gourmet® 10-Cup coffeemaker from August 2006 through December 2008 for about $10.

Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled coffeemaker and contact Atico International USA for instructions on returning the product for a full refund.

This recall involves the following coffeemakers:

The name of the coffeemaker is printed on the front of the unit. The model number and the item number are printed on a sticker located on the bottom of the unit.

Consumers should call Atico International USA toll-free at (877) 546-4835 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the company's Web site at www.aticousa.com

The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
