WarmlyYours Recalls Comfortplus Rug Warmers

March 19, 2008
WarmlyYours is recalling about 200 Comfortplus rug warmers. The rug warmer's cord can come loose from the plug and cause sparks or flames, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

WarmlyYours has received two reports of incidents involving the rug warmer. One involved electrical sparks coming from the cord when it was pulled out. In the other incident, the cord caught fire and left burn marks on the area rug and floor. No injuries have been reported.

The rug warmers are cream-colored with a non-slip pad, a tan nylon edging and a black electrical cord. They were sold in three sizes, small 3 ' ft. x 4 ' ft., medium 4 ' ft. x 7 ' ft., and large 7 ' ft. x 9 ' ft. Model numbers UAH-3646-120, UAH-4979-120, and UAH-7999-120 are printed on a label located on the underside of the rug warmer.

The warmers were sold by WarmlyYours retail stores, and flooring stores nationwide, as well as numerous Web sites, for between $200 and $600. They were made in China and Canada.

Consumers should stop using the rug warmer immediately, unplug it, and return the cord to WarmlyYours using the pre-paid shipping labels that the firm will provide for a full refund or a replacement product. WarmlyYours is directly contacting purchasers.

Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact WarmlyYours toll-free at (866) 369-0805 between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's Web site at www.WarmlyYours.com.

The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
