GM Recalls 2009 Saturn VuePotential steering problem |
December 2, 2008
The company said that some of the vehicles may have been built with an incorrect steering knuckle, which could cause the tie rod ball to pull out of the tie rod housing. This could cause the affected wheel to turn out and skid. If both assemblies were defective, the driver would lose steering control of the vehicle. Under the recall, dealers will inspect the steering knuckles and, if necessary, replace the knuckles and rods. The recall is expected to begin around Dec. 8. Owners may contact Saturn at 1-800-972-8876 or at www.gmownercenter.com. Consumers may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153) or at www.safercar.gov. Report Your Experience
