Chevrolet Impala Investigation

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has notified General Motors that a preliminary investigation is underway of the Chevrolet Impala to determine if consumer complaints describing headlight failure with the Impala justify a recall of the vehicle.

The Office of Defect Investigation at NHTSA has received 15 complaints claiming that the headlights on Impalas failed without warning while the cars were operating.

Some consumers reported to NHTSA that they were able to restore the headlights by manipulating a malfunction switch on the Impala steering wheel.
