Toyota Recalls 1.4 Million Cars Outside U.S. |

October 18, 2005
Most of the recalled vehicles, 1.27 million, are in Japan with the remainder in South Asia. The recall includes the gas saving Corolla and 15 other models because of trouble with their headlight switching systems. The largest previous recall was also by Toyota in 1999 and involved 797,797 vehicles. Toyota has not disclosed the coast of this recall, in part to play down the impact on the company’s earnings report. The headlight switch is inexpensive, according to Toyota. Toyota said the vehicles to be recalled were manufactured between May 2000 and August 2002. |
