This
company keeps putting my credit information on my father's credit
report. Although we have
the same first and last name, our middle initials are different and I am
not a Jr.
Out
of curiosity I checked the Internet and there are many people in NC
alone that have the same name.
When
I talked to someone at the credit reporting agency they said that my
credit report was fine and that my father would have to report the
credit problem in order to solve this problem.
I am worried that since many people in my state alone have the
same name as my father and I, that my SSN, address, and credit
information could be going to anybody and I do not know it.
The
problems with identity theft are well documented and I do not want any
personal information going to my parents much less strangers.
The people at this company were less than sympathetic and this
has been going on for almost two years now.
Is
there anything that can be done, and what are the legal ramifications of
this privacy violation?
The
emotional distress came from having to explain my credit problems to my
parents and hearing many lectures since this first came to light.
Also they are much less willing to help me in any financial
crisis I might have and they now do not trust me very much with money.
Although
I now have very good credit, they are still skeptical of my money
management now, and they should have never known anything in the first
place. I am not dependent on my parents and I have not been for some
time, so my financial affairs should stay private.
