Equifax in Trouble Again

Equifax can't keep anything straight ... and doesn't seem to try very hard. For the second time, the company has been penalized by the Federal Trade Commission for not responding to consumer inquiries. That will come as no news to the hundreds who've written to us, including those below:

My Equifax credit reports contains completely inaccurate information including wrong social security, wrong date of birth, wrong address, over 40 credit cards that are not mine, mortgages that are not mine. I have attempted to contact Equifax for the past 8 months to have all this information corrected. The only form of contact is via postal mail.

After making my case with the company via a letter, they asked me to submit documentations verifying my documentation. I have sent the company my drivers license, my U.S. passport, birth certificate, social security card, etc. I have sent the company every piece of identification documents that are available and the company has made no efforts in correcting the information.

These documents were sent at least 4 times with certified mail from the U.S. Postal Office to ensure the company receives them. The only letter I have received from Equifax in response to my claim was that Equifax is not able to identify who I am. As a result, my credit has been reduced from 750+ to 400, below sub-prime. My credit card limits have been reduced to laughable levels.

My salary is well above six figures and my credit has always been maintained pristine. Currently, due to the mistakes of Equifax and inability to fix their mistakes, I cannot even get a loan for a car, let alone apply for a mortgage. If it is possible, please help me fight Equifax. I am willing to supply any documentation necessary to further my cause and reach a solution.

Also, TransUnion and Experian (the other two major credit reporting companies) have the most update and accurate information containing my history and identity. My credit score with these two companies is above 750.

i recently went to a store and my entire credit card number came up on the receipt that they keep so i went online and saw that equifax had a fraud alert program. the sytem asked for all my personal info and then a rep came on the and i told that i changed my mind and she was like too bad you have to keep it for 90 days then hung up.

i have excellent credit and now i need new tires so i was going to go to sears. when i learned that one of the drawbacks was opening up a new account iwant apply for a sears card to get 10 percent off and i do not understand whats what. I JUST WANT THE FRAUD ALERT OFF. I DO NOT NEED THE HEADACHE. WHO DO THEY THINK THEY MAKING YOU KEEP SOMETHING YOU DO NOT WANT

About 1 month ago I applied for an equity loan on my home and was told that my credit score was run at that time and it was 750 and today only 1 month later I get an equifax report showing the score to be 695. Like all others I called and only got automation and went online to file complaint but was unable to do so without paying. People are having a hard enough time right now getting loans and they don't need to have to deal with such incompetence.

If I get my loan the interest rate may be higher because of equifax and we are all struggling as it is.

I received a notice that my information had been on a stolen laptop. I went to the AnnualCreditReport site, filled out info and was transferred to Equifax site. There was no way I could request my free credit report. I could not create an account without signing up for a paid service and without an account I could not get my report. Equifax is very obviously not complying with the law - I went to Customer service,I called the number they listed, it was an automatic answering site and there was no choice that allowed me to get the report nor report that I was unable to get it. I think there are enough reports of similar experiences to expect some action to be taken.

I do not have my credit report and thus have no way of knowing if my account has been compromised.
