Duane Reade New York, NY

Gary of Hazlet, NJ, writes:
On Friday, September 22, 2000 at approximately 12:30pm I entered the Duane Reade located at 224 West 57th Street in Manhattan. I had two prescriptions to be filled: tylenol 3 w/codiene and Meprobamate. I was in dire need of Meprobamate. I got the prescriptions and went back to my office.

I took the prescription and AFTERwards, I looked at it. I discovered that it was the wrong drug. I called the pharmacy and was told to come back. I brought the container with me. The manager, Ram, and I went to speak with the pharmacist, Wajdi. He said that he had filled the prescription.

I informed him that he gave me the wrong drug. I was in need of taking the right one BUT now had to wait four hours because the drugs can not be taken together. I was already in need and now had to suffer for four more hours. The pharmacist, Wajdi, in front of the manager was completely cavalier and nonchalant about the entire ordeal including the mental anguish it caused me.

He attempted to suggest that I switched the drugs. I went back to my office and got the other prescription and brought it into the manager, Ram. I was appalled, nervous and extremely worried over what took place.

Afterwards I got in touch with the district manager, who was of little help. Evidently Duane Reade does not understand the ramifications of a pharmacist giving out the wrong prescription. This is completely unacceptable even unfathomable behavior and before I file a $25 million dollar lawsuit against Duane Reade, I would appreciate any help, guidance or assitance that you can give me.

Legal action sounds good to us.
