Lisa of Ewing, NJ November 9, 2009 Buyer beware - I obtained Pet insurance for my rescue dog (Jack). It was a gift for a month and included in the adoption. Jack had a infection from the shelter and indeed PetCare happily paid the $100 or so bill, so I continued with the QuickCare “Intro†policy. About a year or so later Jack experienced a Left leg Cruciate Ligament Tear and required a TPLO repair at the cost of over $4500!! Due to having the Intro policy at the time, I was reimbursed $500.00 for a "First time Illness". Not a lot, but at the cost of the surgery, a little help! Nov of 2008 I upgraded Jack's policy to the "QuickCare Optimum" when I adopted my second rescue (Stella) and also covered her at the same time. I understand the cost of owning 2 active animals and felt much better knowing I had higher coverage for both should anything happen. Oct 2009 Jack unfortunately tore his right leg Cruciate Ligament needing surgery to repair the other leg. This time PetCare Insurance will NOT reimburse me the $1500 I thought I was covered with the upgraded "Optimum" policy. After a very long phone conversation with multiple individuals I was told that because they paid $500 under the "Intro" policy and that a Cruciate Ligament tear is considered a "BI-Literal" condition - they do not have to reimburse me a dime!! No matter how I argued that it was not the same leg and I have an upgraded policy, it didn't matter. Never mind that when I called to upgrade the policy last year and discussed with their call center sales rep and after reading the Website materials, I felt secured this entire past year that if anything happened to Jack in regards to his Cruciate Ligament, I would be covered. NOT so…. because I did not read the fine print (terms and conditions), nor did their Sale representative clearly explain this and also this is not clearly described on their website. PetCare Insurance has this stated within the Terms and Conditions, under a small hyperlink after their GREAT chart showing everything they will reimburse you for, and they also show you wonderful testimonials on the same page stating how the company paid all this money to an insured for her 2 dogs both of which had this surgery, one of them even on both legs (right and left)!! I feel extremely cheated after paying as much as I have in premiums over the years and at a time when money is so tight due to the economy. It was difficult but I did keep up the payments on this insurance. I feel truly at a loss on how I can afford this for my wonderful rescue Jack, but paying out $thousands in insurance to not be reimburse a dime – I would have been much better off putting this into savings and having a little cushion in such a time as this. I have a very difficult decision to make which was exactly the decision I was hoping to avoid by having this insurance in the first place. Mary of Chicago (8/31/05):
The cat died on August 11th, they sent me this letter dated August 23rd, and I received it August 31st. The cat was cremated on the 11th. Damages: I lost $181.50 Candace of Sun Valley CA (9/11/03):
PetCare Insurance will not stop billing my Visa.I have called into complain that they have to stop billing with out my permission and they owe me for the past four months that they billed me. I have sent them e-mails to complain but they will not respond. They did confirm my cancellation on 06/03/03 with me on the phone on 09/05/03, but why did they keep billing? In order for me to stop this company from billing my account I have to close my account at the bank and open a new one to stop my current visa card. Report Your Experience
