Littermaid - Customers' Diagnoses |
I contacted Littermaid about my $175 cat box failure. They said they would not replace unit since cat urine found its way to the circuit board and corroded the circuit traces. They claim that this is an "accidental" failure and not related to faulty workmanship. I told them it was a cat box and what am I supposed to do, get training for my cat to not pee against the side. It appears that the cat pee can enter under the lip of the unit and also the battery box. Cat urine is extremely corrosive and Littermaid didn't use any method to protect the circuit board. Also, the timing circuit of the board fails after a determined amount of time. You can almost time it to the week when the units power will simply shut down. I wouldn't be so angry if it weren't for the fact that I tried to work with them on some suggestions that would make the unit more viable and less prone to failure. Shawn of California MO (6/9/03):
The green boards (electric circuit boards) in these units are sloppy and do not work correctly. I have worked on several of these Littermaid mega's and they are simply not made to work for any extended period of time if they do work at all. Vicki of Pawnee OK (2/28/03):
