Frontline

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I ordered $147 worth of products off their website over a month ago and they didn't deliver the products, but took my credit card payment. There is no way to contact this supposed company for they do not answer emails nor do they answer their phones. After ordering online from them and not receiving my products, I started investigating and found that they have complaints all over the web about taking people's money but not giving people what they pay for. I contacted the BBB and filed a complaint and they emailed me and told me that the company went out of business.

I informed my credit card company of this fraud and they called the company and couldn't get through to them either. They are questioning as to whether this was ever a real business to begin with. The credit card company allowed me to dispute the charges and are in the process of removing the charge from my credit card. I wish I had the money to get an attorney to go after this bogus business, but I really don't have the time or the money to pursue them.

I made a purchase and never received anything, confirmation number or product. I contacted them and got a machine. I contacted by email and got an automated response. This appeared as the actual site for Frontline flea and tick med by Merial, but it is not. I have contacted Frontline to confirm they have a Facebook account. On it, you will find many other customers who have had the same result.

My cat is almost 19 years old, and has kidney issues. I asked the vet if I could use Frontline Plus liquid for fleas, and she said yes, it wouldn't hurt her. For 5 days, she has been having body spasms, and has trouble walking. I searched the internet and found that this is commonly caused by many of types of flea control, particularly in elderly cats with health issues! I am so mad upset that the vet said it was fine to use on her, and that she never heard of any problems with this! Please let others know how dangerous this stuff is!

Despite having a bad experience with Frontline last summer, I tried it again this year.

My dog began receiving monthly treatments from Frontline, purchased from my vet, in March. My 100% indoor cats should have been flea-free, but by August, all five cats and the dog were scratching. I continued treating the dog with Frontline, added the cats with monthly treatments. By the end of September, when the dog has been on monthly treatments for seven months and the cats two months, the fleas are worse than ever.

I didn't bother calling Frontline as I got the same brush-off everyone else mentions. I've switched to Advantage II and am hoping to see a turnaround. The labels are a pack of lies--no product that claims to kill fleas, larvae and eggs should result in a treated animal being infested with fleas after regular treatment.

I am so angry with the company!

Between my aunt, my uncle and myself, we purchased Frontline for 17 cats in total. Did not work the least bit!

I am very alarmed that there are not more complaints about the Frontline flea spray. I suspect that there is a way for the company to block any negative information given in the media. Does anyone know what the company is capable of censoring? Where are all of the notes about problems people are having with this product?

We spent approximately 180.00 on flea medicine that does not work. We have receipts and we want our money back.

Frontline refused to give me a refund despite being told that I would receive a refund after a 3 month flea cycle. Every time I called frontline they gave me a different excuse as to why they couldn't refund the product.

Started using Frontline Plus on my 3 indoor cats 6/12/10. The label states that it kills fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae for up to 6 weeks. It also states that it prevents development of all flea stages for up to 6 weeks. Noticed lots of flea eggs and feces on a glass top table they like to lay on soon after the first application of Frontline Plus. One of my cats was spending an inordinate amount of time in the basement during this first treatment period. On 7/11 I swept some flea eggs and flea dirt from the table into a petri dish to see if the eggs hatched. Like a fool, I administered a second topical dose at the recommended four week period on 7/12/10.

I called the company (Merial) on 7/26 to ask if they had a problem with one of their lots because it didn't seem to be working. They (Trisha) said there was no problem. I also told her that the egg sample hatched into larvae and the label said it kills flea eggs. I got some lame just give it time excuse. I also asked about side effects and was told there were no behavioral effects (which i have since learned is not true, there are behavioral side effects). All in all I have collected and hatched 4 broods of eggs. Called about getting my money back 8/24 (Satisfaction Guaranteed also on the label) and all they were interested in was the adverse effects (needs to be reported to EPA). She said they weren't medically trained and someone would call back within 24 hours to get more details on the adverse effects and to discuss getting my money back. I never received a call. I switched to another product and within 12 hours I found 27 dead fleas (that's only what I found) and there are no longer flea eggs and dirt on their favorite table. People spend millions on this product and I am sick of false advertising.

I didn't even bother calling this time because of my first experience almost five years ago. I was using Frontline on my dogs and ended up with a flea infestation. Their response was that I had probably applied it incorrectly—no replacement or resolution. They were pretty snotty. I vowed not to use it again. But last year, my vet talked me into trying it again and guess what? I have another flea infestation. I've seen other complaints that are similar, so no one will ever talk me into returning to that again. $120.00 for K9 Advantix and $50 for flea shampoo and products to treat the house.

My name is Margareta **. I was the proud owner of a beautiful Golden Retriever named Kirstein and a beautiful Doberman Pincher named Naya. Kirstein was a therapy dog. (I feel was killed by chemical reaction.) I applied Frontline Flea and Tick product after giving baths.

Let me share a little about Kirstein, the miraculous dog. We went to the child crisis center regularly, and one day our normal bi-monthly visit. When we enter we usually came into a room with children sitting in a circle, and the dog or dogs, I had two now, one usually makes a circle around the sitting children and anyone (child) that wants one-on-one time with the dog lets us know and we accommodate by a line and personal time with the dog amounting to as much time as needed. My having two therapy dogs, it was a very successful program for letting the children know unconditional love that these dogs share.

This particular time when we visited the center, our Kirstein entered the room and went immediately to the corner where there was a private area set up. (It consisted of a small colorful tent that a child could go to when they wanted to be alone.) This girl had such a horrible time she had been there for three days crying all the time. Kirstein went right to the corner, laid down and inched her way into the tent very slowly; just her head was in the tent. I called to her to come back. However, the counselors pleaded with me to let her go. They explained the story to me and asked to let her stay there while we have her sister Brianna to work with the other children.

We finished our work with the other children and sat down as the children went on with their other programs leaving the room silent. All you could hear was this poor little girl just sobbing holding onto Kirstein. It was her first break through back to reality. She had such a tough time she held on Kirstein's neck. I wondered how Kirstein was able to keep wagging her tail and breathe. This talent is what we lost to chemicals. Of course, we never know what happened to these children, or are able to continue contact with them, except for this situation. Kirstein was the only one to make a breakthrough with this girl and we went back every day (about 6 days) until they said we could go back to our regular schedule. When I refer to we, I mean Kirstein, Brianna and myself. Working with the staff of the children crisis center is a great thing. We have suffered a great loss with both of our girls. Now to have only one (Brianna) is bitter sweet and wonderful all at once. It had been 6 months and I will tell you this is the first time I have been able to tell this story.

They had a long painful death, I feel. Both the Doberman and the Golden developed sores all over their body that looked like ulcerated blistering. Now these are both long hair and short hair dogs. Their kidneys were starting to fail. My vet sells Frontline and doesn't know what caused this. However, she was so much a part of these dogs all their lives. She cannot for sure confirm that this is what killed them, only states that it looks like the result of a chemical reaction. I have not been back since as I strongly feel it was the cause of their demise. Kirstein lost 45 pounds before her death in approximately 14 to 17 days, and I could not stand to see her suffer any longer and requested her to be put to sleep.

The Doberman lasted 17-19 days with the same suffering. I could not let her go any longer and requested euthanasia. When I brought up the facts to my vet, she stated that there's no expiration date on these products. I will never know. I only know they were as healthy as could be three weeks before their death and that is when I gave baths and used this product. The saddest thing is that they don't and never had fleas or ticks. So why did I use this medication? I thought I was doing the right thing for them. I don't know if this will help you, however, this is what happened to us here in Mesa, Arizona.

Frontline is poison. I've stopped using it on my Zoe (Rhodesian Ridgeback) two years ago. It made her sick for three to four days after application, and weight is not the issue. The product is. I examine her once or twice a day for ticks by hand. She thinks she's getting a rubdown. It takes 24 hours before a tick releases its poison if it has any.
