Negative Option: When No Means Yes

VistaPrint's business cards are fine but from what we hear, VistaPrint has a nasty habit of herding their customers into MWI's fleecing arena. The company says it's just not so.

Jennifer of Hamden, CT September 22, 2009

I ordered invitations in 4/09. That went well and I was pleased with the process. As I was checking out I clicked on the 10 rebate box, but seeing the request for information and "enrollment fee" for the rewards program, I closed it. Apparently merely clicking on the box enters you into the program.

I was charged for 4 months at 14.95 a month. When I called the phone # on the charge on my credit card bill (as I didn't recognize the charge) they said they were a "customer service center hired by the company" (not the company itself) and were not authorized to remove charges. I contacted VistaPrint via live chat on email. The company representative seemed more than accomadating. She agreed that I was "mistakenly" enrolled. She said she would deactivate the account and reimburse me for all the charges.

When my next credit card bill came, only one month was reimbursed. It took another call to the number on the credit card (which somehow was the right #) to figure it out. And eventually, I have been reimbursed for the entire amount. However this is quite a scam and still leaves me with finance charges from my credit card company(who has been even more unmanagable...but thats more for a different post.)

Cybele of Moorpark, CA September 22, 2009

Upon planning our son's 3rd birtday, I googled "dinosaur invitations" and came up with Vista Print. Little did I know, once I placed the order for the very adorable invitaions, Vistaprint kept my CC# on file. Not only on file, but continued to charge our card..

Joyce of Bonner Springs, KS September 21, 2009

who advertizes on your site, enrolls people in a "club" without telling you, or putting the charge on you account, without providing an enrollment packet. No where on their site can you find out information about the clur or disenroll. loss is 14.95 per month until you can get it stopped.

Shawn of Fort Mill, SC September 10, 2009

I ordered business cards from vistaprint.com and they have been charging me 14.95 for the past 7 months for a service I never requested. They gave my credit card information to Business Max. When I called them, they said that I clicked on a popup, and that Vista Print authorized that charge. This is not true since I have a popup blocker.

Jen of madison, WI September 10, 2009

I've ordered a few things from VistaPrint.com over the last couple of years, and yes, that whole free 10 for the survey where you authorize them to charge you 14.95/mo for whatever extended services IS sneaky - but it ALSO says what it does - in NOT SO FINE print. They should probably take it off their site, but YOU should ALSO bother to READ what you agree to - INCLUDING TERMS OF USE rather than just blindly clicking 'YES' or 'I ACCEPT'.

Carrie of Scottsdale, AZ September 10, 2009

Vista Print charged my account for a rewards program for over a year before I caught it and they did refund the fee's which I appreciated. However, due to this action I lost trust in how they do business and have not used them since. Should I use them it would in a phone call and clarify what charges will be charged.

craig of milford, MI September 9, 2009

I ordered twicw from Vistaprint, then two weeks after I received my order. I got two 14.95 charges on my credit card, I called and complained and they said they would refund it, they didnt, they charged me 14.95 again, total rip off! overdrew on my checking

Victor of Maumee, OH September 4, 2009

I notified them via email about 2 4.99 charges to my CC. Eventually 1 charge was refunded. Since then the charge has appeared 2 more times and it is impossible to get a response.

R of Edmonds, WA September 3, 2009

I have received my orders on time, but was surprised when I received a notice that the credit card I only use for internet purchases was overdrawn. Seems I had "allegedly" signed up for something called Vista Prints rewards at a rate of 14.95 PER MONTH.

James of Mission Viejo, CA September 3, 2009

I have nothing but good to say about VistaPrint's customer service. I had an issue with a multiple-item order, of my own making. Denise spent the time on the phone with me to make sure everything was correct to my satisfaction and was of great help. She was pleasant, professional and most courteous.
