Negative Option: When No Means Yes

VistaPrint's business cards are fine but from what we hear, VistaPrint has a nasty habit of herding their customers into MWI's fleecing arena. The company says it's just not so.

Thomas of Newhall, CA October 21, 2009

When you get to the part where you order there are about 10 to 15 ads you need to go through to get to the end of check out. For me, I was never able to even get to check out because I eventually got a blank screen and had to start all over again. I would like to do business with them but it's way too much of a hassle. Could not find contact number. Wasted time and effort

MOUHé of Citou, France October 20, 2009

Never had any problem with my orders up to now. I only ordered visit cards for almost free. I perfectly understood the charges as they were properly explained and if you press the right button you get what you want. I will surely order more from them when I need it .

Cameron of Portland, OR October 19, 2009

My partner ordered calendars on line with Vistaprint.com. When I reconciled the following month's statement, I noticed two unauthorized charges from mvq*Vpclubus, each for 14.95, spread out over 30 days. I called my bank to reverse charges. The bank said I should call the phone number listed and request credit. There was no number provided on my statement, which surprised the bank employee handling my call. So, she provided me the number listed with the bank charge.

When I called the number, It seemed I was delivered a too familiar script designed to satisfy me, no questions asked. This seems to be a gray-market internet practice that is becoming more prevalent. When ordering from Vistaprint, you may be charged the additional charges spread out over the following months. If you discover the charge, you cannot call the debiting company since you are not provided a phone number with the charge. If you have the time to call your bank, and they provide you a number, then you're on your way to receiving your credits.

When you call the number and ask for a credit, they will send you to their supervisor. After a short wait, the supervisor will gladly credit the charge, no questions asked. Be sure to ask for credit for each individual charge. So, as I see it, if you're diligent enough to reconcile your accounts and have the time to contact your bank, and the ability to pursue the credit, then the scammers know better than to challenge you for fear of exposing their practice. I was assured my bank account will be credited 29.90.

I just ordered business cards from Vistaprint and then received an email from them about a trial website. This website was offered, and declined by me, when I ordered my cards because there is a charge after the trial offer expires. I forwarded that email, with the following response, to Vistaprint's Director of Customer Benefits, Lori H. (This has not come back as undeliverable so I am assuming it is a valid email address). "Hello Ms. H., I find this email very disturbing and will be following up with notification to the BBB. I did not request a trial offer for a website, DID NOT authorize any continued billing for the period after the trial ends, and am now requesting you CANCEL all trial offers and obligations I have with your company with the exception of an order for 250 business cards."

I too have had the Vistaprint baiting. I love the products but BEWARE when you check out. They tagged magazines that I did not ask for. I call now to verify. They have terrible customer service. Off shore CSR's who are well trained to cut you off in your complaints.

Nick of Easton, PA October 17, 2009

placed an online order for business cards, brochures, etc. and suddenly started receiving Golf magazine which I did not order and can not find out how to cancel this. The email address given to me does not exist, the phone number is automated and won't cancel anything and I better not find out my credit card is being charged for the unlawful subscription.

I am always receiving promotional coupons for free shipping.I tried 2 place a order that took several hours due 2 there setup. Tried 2 order 3 items. The prices kept changing,@ I would have to reload the original tab with the promotion maybe 5 times to get that price in checkout. Only to b sterred to the shipping page which is not free. The lowest option for shipping is around 12.00. The shipping plus the merchandise deleted the savings I originally started with. Would love to get products if their was not so much, Bait and Switch. You r correct there is no phone number or e/chat to contact.

I have been taken by Vista print! Thay have been stealing money from my bank account without my knowledge since Septembe 09, 2009. Even though it is 14.95 a month I want it all back! I have bank documentation! Thank you for your time,

Camelia of winchester, MA October 14, 2009

I have placed business card order with vista print and chancel the order right a way as the order quantity was wrong, I reorder the same type of business cards only with the quantity number changed. The cards quality as expected good but an offal customer service they have, they have charged me twice and received only one order.

I try to contact them several times and there is no answer from them. I finally received after two weeks of trouble an email from them that they are sorry for what happen and they will give me credit as of money reimbursement. I am very frustrated and would like my money back.

I had been a frequent customer of Vistaprint. After I ordered two products from Vistaprint in June 2009 I clicked through check-out but had about 20 pop-up offers. I declined ALL of them and was very annoyed at the check-out delay & effort. One pop-up said I was going to receive magazines --NO WAY to decline offer and could cancel subscription by calling a number. Of course I did that. The next month I received a credit card charge of 14.95 from Passport to Fun and did so for the next 3 months until I told my credit card company. I have wondered if this company got my credit card number from Vistaprint. Now I read that other Vistaprint customers have had the same awful experience. I'm FINISHED with VISTAPRINT!
