USSearch.com

Curtis of Portland, OR September 17, 2009

I paid for a 24 pass with USSearch.com and was correctly billed 6.90. The date and time of the order was 2009-02-11 21:35:34.0. USSearch.com then added their Search % Save Membership 2009-02-11 21:36:40.0, one minute and four seconds later. I NEVER ordered this product and NEVER used this product. The monthly charge for this product is 24.95 I neglected to closely check my credit card statements until today when I discovered that I have been charged for 8 months of service that I have NEVER used.

When I called USSearch's customer service, they told me to send an email to cservice@ussearch.com and that my subscription would be cancelled. I was also told that I would not get a refund for the product that I didn't order and didn't use. The cost to me so far has been 199.60. I know I didn't order this service because the billing address that USSearch.com has for me is a place I have never lived.

What a complete waste of money (and they are loaded with spyware). For 40, you get a map and neighbors near the person you are researching. That's it. A known felony does not even show up and their excuse is that they cannot get all state records. So, go to whitepages, do a reverse address search and save yourself 40.

COLLEEN of hummelstown, PA June 30, 2009

On March 27,2009 I got online to try to find an old friend and ordered the "one time search" from USSearch.com. An email with my order confirmation and tracking # was received almost instantly and then a second email was received telling me how to access the information they gathered on the person in question. I accessed the information with no problem and saw a 1.95 charge on my credit card a few days later (3/30/09) as I expected.

In June I saw a 14.00 charge from USSearch.com and after reviewing prior statements see that in addition to the 1.95, I was also charged 14.00 in March and each month since (total of 4 months). I contacted the organization and was told that I could only be refunded 3 of the 4 months of 14.00 charges and that I should have received an email clarifying that if I didn't want to have continued membership, I should have contacted the organization within 7 days of initial order. I reiterated the detail provided in the two emails I received from the organization, both on 3/27/09, and the fact that they both clearly stated that I purchased a "one time search". Neither had any reference to my having purchased a membership or the need to contact the company. She restated there was nothing more she could do for me, except to refund 42.00. I asked for a manager and after being transferred 4 times in the next 10 minutes, never reached a manager, but ended up back at customer service with a new rep named Chris.

Chris was very polite and specified after looking up my original (one time search) order # that at the end of placing my order there is a box where the user must select "yes" or "no" when asked if they want to upgrade and purchase a membership called "search and save" membership. I once again stated that I did not order a membership, but purchased a one time search, which was CLEARLY reflected on the emails I received from the company in March. Chris tried to transfer me to a manager with no luck and finally (after I had been on the phone with the organization for 30 minutes) specified that he would go ahead and refund the 56.00 in fees.

It's very interesting that the two customer service staff members each had very different stories about how/why I was charged the 14.00 each month. In addition, Chris initially clarified that the orginal CSR was being generous, that in such a situation, the company policy was to only refund 50% of any charges. This was reiterated sevearl times in an attempt to get me to accept a partial refund. How many people have they done this to?

I paid them 40 for a search but never received any info. I went to the site and manually retrieved my search results and they provided no information. I found more in a public record search than they did and it was free.

I'm out forty bucks and I have no information upon which to make a major decision. This company has been a liability not an asset.

I have e-mailed this company and called them. They have incorrect information listed for me and they will not correct it. To try and opt out requires information that I no longer have and cannot locate. Because they have people linked to my name that I do not know I am getting harassing calls. Please tell me how I can be removed I don't want the information corrected I want out. I never authorized them to build a dosea on me. Who did? Thank you

They have people linked to my name. Because these people are deadbeats I am the one being contacted.

Rebekah of Leander, TX April 27, 2008

Rebekah of Leander TX (04/27/08)
I am going to have to submit to a background check to keep my employment with my current job. This job allows me to stay home with my child so I am not wanting to change employment. I need to keep this job to avoid having to find childcare again. I do have a criminal record BUT I have not been convicted of any crime.

I sought out a service that would give me accurate information on a case that I agreed to deferred adjudication for. USSEARCH was ranked pretty high on what seemed to be a legit consumer reports website. I paid 25 dollars to search the state and the results that are given are deceiving. This is the format they use: Sentence Sentence Date Offense Date Description Adjudication Withheld Sentence and sentence date implies that I was convicted.

How could there have been a sentence if there was no conviction? It says I was sentenced to one year. Not so. I was given one year probation and after that it was to be dismissed. My probation officer even said at our last meeting that it was to be dismissed because I successfully completed all that was required for deferred adjudication.

Furthermore, it offers to sell more information with the phrase Get the full story behind this conviction... So they are outright calling it a conviction. Also, they did not provide what level it was, felony or misdemeanor. The information that was provided is spotty. It looks like they use the same form for all reports on criminal record which makes the info very misleading.

There is potential damage here. This is my reputation here! There is a disclaimer Information contained herein is derived solely from public records, which may not be 100 percent accurate or complete. but after this information is dispensed, the damage has already been done.

I believe the court looked at my arrest report and decided that the charges would not be worth convicting me over, but the government agency that charged me would have been upset if the case were dismissed all together. So if the court decided that damage to my reputation should be minimized, it's a shame that USSEARCH's information makes me look like I was convicted. I sacrificed time and money to make sure my probation was successfully completed so I could still be gainfully employed to provide for my family, and to no avail. The information that potential employers and my potential enemies can get a hold of is giving information that is not accurate. This is undeserved damage to my reputation.
