Michael of Cherry Hill NJ (07/06/08) I have purchased several Items and am happy, However twice I have been burned. I won the bid and when I went to the secure payment page and entered my cc # and hit submit a final outrageous shipping fee was charged.
The most recent was on 6/28/2008. I bought 3 sd2GB memory cards for my camera at $2.00 a piece and was charged 39.97 for shipping and handling. I did not know the final charge until I submitted my cc info. I tried cancelling it but I was not allowed and the product was shipped. my credit card was charged 45.97.this has got to be ilegal. this has occured one other time. Please help.
Steven of Point Richmond CA (07/04/08) I purchased a cell phone from you ubid and it will not charge. Now I cannot find a way to return it. I have tried e-mails & phone calls and I get no satisfaction. Is this site a scam to get rid of junk?
I am out $70.00 with no recourse.
Johndel of Valencia CA (07/02/08) Ordered/placed an MP3 as advertised. They shipped a different item. Asked for a refund but took sometime plus they did not refund my full money. They charged the shipping cost back to them in which they were at fault. They screwing a lot of people and nobody dares to stop them. If there will be a class lawsuit...count me in. I have all the transcripts with me.
Ron of Buena Park CA (06/25/08) I recently won a bid for a brand new Dell Latitude XT Table Notebook at $750, retailing over $3000 according to ubid. The price was too good to be truth. After 2 weeks of waiting, I realized my notebook were never shipped. I therefore called ubid for an explanation. Ubid replied by e-mail saying that the laptop were found damaged in the warehouse and no replacement unit were available. They offered a refund to my credit card. However, I told them I simply want my notebook instead of refund. It was a brand unit and it comes with 3 years of manufacture warranty by Dell.
I asked ubid to repair or replaced simply because it was brand new and under the warranty. Ubid refused simply because it was not an option. I feel strongly that I was a victim of fraud. The ubid have refused to honor the price that I won because it was under their cost, maybe. As of today, there are still 13 brand new units for sell with starting bid of $ 1299. Why can't ubid just send me one of unit available...? If this is not a scam or fraud, then what's it? I have all the e-mails replied by Ubid and related information saved. If anyone is interesting of fighting this organized fraud, I will be more than happy to provide any information needed it.
I have follow their rules and played their game. I ended up with a lof of frustration, street and simply upset. Time were wasted for nothing....
Marlene of Chicago IL (06/20/08) I bid on two headphone MP3 player sets and won the bid for 4 dollars Each. Shipping charge for each item was 14.95. I received a bill for 40 dollars. Both items were shipped together in one envelope via USPS 10oz First-Class Parcel rate which from AGIS the approved UBID seller 60567 to my address at 60613 maximum priority rate would be 4.80 plus 75 cents for delivery confirmation. These overinflated shipping prices allowed by UBID are outrageous and ridiculous. Something should be done about their practice. This seller made approximately 24 dollars in shipping overcharge.
None- just want the public to be aware of UBID's unfair policy.
G.w. of St. Petersburg FL (05/17/08) i was a member, wished to lace a $270 bid on an hp s3027c pavillion desktop--mistyped $370, tried to correct error, then got a screen saying bid declined 'due to improper e-mail address. went thru this 3 times--finally thought i was 'safe', as they repeatedly kept denying bid, did not respond to 'bid-error correction'--went to sleep. next day $370 gone.
as a former Fed, this, and other ubid events,Are 'Wire-Fraud'. read on--they offer Chinese watches. before i bought one, i mailed as to 'country-of-origin' and was told they had Swiss movements, assembled in China--absolute lie, and again 'Wire-Fraud'.
to the best of my data, most of these computers sold via ubid for +/- $260-- after refusing to let me instantly correct bid error, saying 'bid refused' i'm 'ripped' for $100.
David of Lake Elsinore CA (05/14/08) Purchased a replacment battery for laptop, was stated Brand- NEW Manufacturer Gateway for customer, wasn't just under 30 days the customer complained the battery wasn't able to run the laptop. Sure enough the battery was dead, unable to accept a charge. I contacted Ubid, they said manufacture warranty was only 15 days. This was not on any paper work, invoice or even on the purchase order. Yet every battery on their web site was 6 months. Not only costing me $67.00. I have to purchase another battery now. No exchange, refund, only a short to bad email.
This makes me look bad to my customers when they sell junk to unload, then won't back up the product. Sell from warehouse, then say 3rd party vendor
Harvey of North Haven CT (04/07/08) I have a habit of buying things, Whether on e-bay, or u-bid, or just about anyplace I could find where I think I'm getting a good price. This incident just happened last week. I bid on and won a laptop for my wife and an LCD Tv for me. The laptop was great, while the TV stunk. I got an RMA # and then returned it . Then I got a little jealous of my wife's laptop. I went on U-Bid and found a great laptop for 279.00 but only 4 minutes left on the bid. I panicked and just clicked on buy it now . How could I let that great deal get away. This was done on Sat. night at midnight. I decided to get some sleep and look at the item and the details on Sunday. It turns out that it was an item sold by a third party, not U-bid. It also had a 59.95 shipping fee, when the laptop I purchesed last week was only 39.95. After further reading thas laptop I just agreed to buy had a three(3) day guaranty where the other one had a 6 month guaranty. No problem, all I would have to do was call and cancel, my order due to misrepresntation.
But no-one from customer service works on Sunday. I then tried e-mailing, and did get through, but just to a person that said he would forward my info to a cust. service rep on Monday. I ended up writing about 5 or 6 e-mails because I was quite upset. I woke up on Monday and immediately called the office and spoke to a customer service rep. She started out nice but ended up nasty. I should have read the fine print. I said I ordered it in a hurry and thought since I was buying from U-Bid everything would be ok. She informed me that i Purchased it form a third party supplier and he can put whatever warranty he wants, and he could also charge whatever he wants for shiiping.
Much to my dismay, I asked the representative if U-Bid screens these third party vendors and had any rules . she said yes. When I asked her why they would allow such a small return window and such large shipping fees she said I should have read better. I didn't lose my patience yet but remained calm and asked her to explain to me why I just printed out my shipping statusand it said that it was still at the supplier's warehouse and the seller's ID was U-Bid. If the item is still at the warehouse why couldn't I cancel it. Even for a nominal charge I would. She insisted that the seller will not cancel. The item would ship out as originally planned then once I recieve it, I should call U-Bid for an RMA#. I would have to pay to ship it back, then have to pay a 15% restocking fee as well.
Now this item that I don't even want is going to cost me well over $150.00 ahfter the $279.00. And that is if they even take it back becuse no matter how fast I move . There is no way to recieve it then transship it back to whereever in 3 days is virtually impossible, despite the fact that I am handicapped and in a wheelchair0. U-Bid should not be doing business by claiming they are a member of the Better Business Bureau and has been in business for ten years. Stay clear of U-Bid . com
Kenneth of Gilroy CA (04/07/08) I had bid on, and won, 6 Diamond heart pendants. I only recieved 5 of the 6. It wasn't until after I won that I realized I was being charged shipping for each one ($93 total for shipping) and yet they all arrived in a USPS envelope with a $2.00 postage sticker. Thats $91.00 for handling which they didn't even get right as I wasn't shipped all 6!!!
I was charged for Items I didn't recieve! I was gregiously overcharged for shipping.
Joseph of Las Vegas NV (02/20/08) I bought a diamond ring and returned it for false advertising. It has been 2 weeks since they received the item and never credited my credit card for the amount of $2779.00. Now I have to pay the interest of this purchase.
Jeneane of Brunswick GA (01/03/08) I bid on a digital camera and won and the thing does not work! You can't take a picture, it doesn't do anything!
It was a Christmas present for my granddaughter! Naturally she didnt get the one thing she wanted!
Dan of Roulette PA (01/03/08) I won a bid for 4 units 3.5 tft screen refurbished color televisions for $32 dollars each. It appeared to be a nice deal. However when shipping charges were presented to me the following day, they billed shipping as if they were 4 individual packages at $26.50 per package. In reality, they shipped a single 8lb package UPS ground for $111.00
They hid $100 dollars in extra, unnecessary and probably fraudulent shipping charges behind confusing, unclear language which wasn't presented to me at the time I placed the bid.
Nguyen of San Jose CA (12/04/07) I was/am bidding for many laptop computers at different times on UBID, and I notice that there are few people from different places trying to bid each time against me. Their names are very familiar to me. I think they are from the same network trying to bid against me to raise the price of the item (possibly for UBID). I asked myself how could these people keep bidding item after item? What is the coincidence?
During the last few minutes bidding for an item, when I hit the key CONTINUE to execute the bid, the software is not excecuting and show blank in the price box, as if I was outbidded by someone else. Without knowing, I ended up bidding against myself and had raised the price up a few times. After three times, I was able to excecute the bid. It seems like cheating to raise the price.
Daniel of Hampton VA (05/03/07)
I bought a 50 inch Sony TV which arrived and worked fine for 9 months. The TV is now a 100 pound boat anchor because that is all its good for after it died last week. I bought a 2 year extended warranty, which evidently isn't worth the paper it's written on. I have called 5 times now to try to get a repairman out to fix my warranted TV. Nothing. They had the audacity to tell me they are having a problem locating a service outlet in my area.
I got on Sony's website, got their 800 number and called them. The lady informed me that there were 3 Sony repair shops in my local area. I called UBID back again for the sixth time, and told them about how I found 3 repair shops in my area while they could find none. The person then informed me that none of these shops were on their list of authorized repair shops.
The only damage was to my wallet. I bought an extended warranty for $280, but have got nowhere with their claims department. They offer an extended warranty which they underwrite, then claim they can't find an authorized repair shop. I found 3 within 5 minutes. What, do they expect these shops to fix my TV for free out of their pocket? What did my $280 go to?
Linda of Wilmington NC (02/24/07)
I bought a Compaq laptop for $299.00 +39.00 shipping on UBid.com. It was advertised as factory refurbished. It arrived one week later and when I plugged it in it seemed to work fine for about 45 minutes and then the battery charge was used up and that is when I realized the A/C power pack plug was not working. The icon in the tray had remained showing "battery" for that time. Once the laptop shut off after the battery was depleted it no longer comes on.
I immediately emailed UBID on their complaint form and checked the return policy which said I had 15 days to report problem (this was exactly 7 days from payment date) and 30 days to return item. I went to Best Buy and bought a new A/C power pack figuring it was just the power pack but the new one wouldn't work either. I have been writing to UBID for over a week trying to get an RMA number which they state in their policy you need to return an item. I don't know what to do with this totally non-functioning piece of junk they sent me. I assume if I just send it back I'll end up loosing the money I paid for it.
I am senior citizen on a fixed income and was thrilled to find a laptop that I could afford. I am, so far, out the money and the computer. I am very distraught over this. I wish I had seen this site before I bid on anything on UBid.com.
Shayne of Bethesda OH (02/15/07)
I won an auction on uBid. My order was supposed to ship in 2 days. I waited 11 days, and then e-mailed uBid and they asked me to give them an additional 5 days for processing. I then received another email stating that my order had been cancelled due to an oversight in inventory. Then they offered me $5.00 towards my next purchase.
They stated My Credit Card had not been charged, but I saw they had taken the amount the day after the auction ended. I wouldn't buy a life preserver from them if I was drowning.
Robert of Orange Park FL (01/22/07) Bid on a hdtv 32 inch on or about 12/21/06, won bid for 527.00. I called numerous times on the product and the only answers that they could give me was that they were on back order and would need to get up with the vendor/buyer. I then received an e-mail that they have another brand hdtv 32 inch, I let them know that i would accept the other product. I then called once again on that product and was told the same as above were on back order or product came in damaged and would need to get up with the vendor/buyer. I then called on the 12/19/06 and was told the same as above and that they would research it and get back with me.
Also told me i could cancel my order if i wanted to, i said no, research and get back with me about this problem. i also so stated to her been over 30 days replace the product with a 42 inch for the inconvenience you have caused me. She stated she could not do that and will do the research on this problem. Ubid also gave me a 50.00 certificate for my next order when i stated to them I had bought one of the tvs for my twin boys for their birthday..
Vernon of Merrillville IN (01/18/07) On 1/16/07 I made a bid on a gps system. My bid for $99.00 was sucessful. But to my suprise the shipping charge was $199.00. My credit card was billed Fo $200.00 more than I bid And customer service was not suprised and said that there was nothing they would do to to rectify this scam.
Keith of Hoyt KS (12/21/06) Their stated auction close time for lot number 601783531 was extended a full 24 hours. This is no doubt this was done simply to push up the price. I was not provided the item I rightfully purchased.
Jen of Fort Wayne IN (11/18/06) I purchased a PS2 game for my son's birthday on uBid. I made the purchase Oct. 21, 2006. I got an email on Oct. 31 that it had shipped. I NEVER received my son's game for his birthday (which was Nov. 13). I contacted uBid several times and never got a timely response. I never got an email from them or anything. It was the WORST online shopping experience ever.
My son was so disappointed when he did not get the birthday present he really wanted. I felt so bad for him and it is hard to explain BAD BUSINESS to kids. Now the other site I could have purchased the PS2 game from has sold out. I am still looking for the game for my son.
Daniel of Belton TX (10/26/06) I bid some old coins that looked like something of value online. it was about $10 for the amount of bidding. I received the items 2 weeks after it was delivered. I work for the military and i had to do some field job at that time. when i opened the envelope, i was so disappointed with the so called antique coins. it looked like one of those coins you get at disneyland when you press a penny. The real astounding part too is they charged me so much on shipping which was $60.77 but it says on the stamp $3.77 only.
I called UBID and they said that the vendor cannot accept the return cause the 15 days grace period was over. I explained my situation but to no avail. They said that they cant do anything with it. I checked my receipt if there is such thing as 15 day return policy and there was none.
The $70.77 doesn't seem so much of an amount if you look at it, but for someone like me who works for the military, that is a big deal. that money could buy me 1 week's worth of food. I am very disappointed and felt that i was victimized by a scam.
Enzo of Canton, OH (04/12/06) I bid on a laptop, Sony Vaio. For some reasons, when I made a higher bid to try to secure the laptop in the last three minutes of the biding process, I kept receiving web pages saying to bid again. I kept bidding, unknown to me, against myself and I jacked up the price to about $150.00 more. I sent e-mails,explaining the problem, but to no avail. When I got hold of customer care, they were RUDE and seemed to not care.
Edward of Peachtree City, GA, writes (6/17/01):
I bid on a "new" Digital Camera, and I received a "reconditioned/refurbished" product. Wrote to Ubid customer care and advised that I needed to get hold of vendor myself. I emailed "Community Vendor" twice, but no response. I feel cheated and decieved with little to do. I wonder how many other people they have done this too, and are getting away with it?
Alan of Camano Island, WA, writes (6/11/01):
Bid on computer and won. When received it had a different name than advertised and did not look at all like the photo on the Bid site. You cannot call ubid so after 10 emails they said I could send it back for a 15% restocking fee and called it buyer's remorse. I decided to keep it and went to set it up when I discovered the RAM was 127MB not 256 as advertised and the hard drive was only 2 Gigs not 20 as advertised.
I once again have called, all you can get is auto responses so I sent more e-mails and to date no response from them. I have bought several items from them in the past but they have zero customer service and it seems zero ethics.
I have spent hours trying to resolve this and since the computer was for our home office it has created problems that have cost us an undetermined amount of time and money as well as much heartburn.
Robert of Springville, CA (6/9/01):
On May 19, 2001 I bought a JVC home stereo system from Ubid. It is now June 9, 2001 and I still have not received it. I have made numerous e-mail and phone calls concerning this. Ubid has done nothing to help me. I was kept on hold for almost a half hour, finally an operator said no supervisor would answer the phone and there was no use staying on the line. Today is our son's college graduation. This was to be his gift. I called again this morning upset that we do not have our son's present. Ubid is closed all weekend, you can not even leave a message.
No graduation gift from Ubid for son's college graduation. Days lost waiting for item to be shipped. Lost time waiting endlessly on hold for someone to talk to. No one ever returned my phone calls.
John of Columbus, Ohio (4/16/01):
I won a bid on Ubid for a JVC RX6000 500 Watt Dolby Digital and DTS reciever. This bid was won on 2/7/2001. It has never shipped since than and continues to be listed as "At Supplier's Warehouse". After numerous e-mails from me to correct the situation they canceled my order without my authority to do so. I have saved all my e-mails from ubid's CSR.
They mentioned numerous times that they were looking into the matter but no results were sent to me. They made a promise to a consumer that they have defualted on. I would like to recieve what was due to me.

Ordered a Compaq 5838 PC. Received a Compaq 7478 PC. They replied that they did not have any 7848's. However, there are currently auction running for 7848 pc's. Their only offer was to give me a $50 credit. Already got rid of my old pc, so I have no backup even if they offer me a refund. Then there is time setting up the new pc.
Lennox of Roselle, NJ:
On June 2,00 I placed a bid on a Toshiba HDTV for $1700 and won. Delivery time was supposed to be 10-17 days. On the 12th day I placed a call to Ubid to check on the order and was told that the item was at the vendor's warehouse and would be shipped soon. Two days later I called back and was given the vendors telephone number.
I called the vendor and was told that the item was on back order an he could not say when it would be in. So i had actually bid on an item that was not available for sale. I called Ubid and was told that the 17 days delevery period was not over and until then all they could do was make an inquiry. Today, June 26, I received an email from Ubid saying that the vendor is unable to ship the tv that was advertised, that i bid $1700 on and won, but that he was willing to send me a different Toshiba HDTV if I was willing to accept it.
I immediately logged on to the Toshiba site only to find out that the substitute is not an HDTV set. I refused the offer. It's hard to believe that these people are allowed to have someone bid on an item that's not avaiable.
After I won the bid I made my 36" tv available for sale and received part of the payment with the promise that it can be picked up in about 17 days. So as a matter of principle i had to turn over my tv to the purchaser over the weekend. Now there is no tv in my living room and the kids gang-up in my bedroom to watch tv and use their playstation.

I bid and won on 2 Motorola Talkabout Plus at $40 each. This happened on 5/10/00. I selected for them to be shipped via FedEx for next day delivery. According to Ubid they were shipped out on 5/11/00. I never received the package.
I called Ubid who said they would trace it. I then called Fedex who also traced it. Fedex called me back and told me they never picked up a shipment with the tracking number Ubid gave me. I called Ubid who told me that an internal trace takes 7 to 10 business days.
She was very rude and said that they could not speed up the process; in the meantime they already charged me for the product including overnight shipping. When I asked about a refund on shipping she said it was not their policy. I found the UBID customer service reps very rude and meanwhile my son's birthday present never arrived as promised.
Ari of Glendale, CA:
I accidentally bid on an item at Ubid.com. They sent the product out to me and charged my credit card AFTER I told them that I wanted to cancel the product order. They had sent me emails stating that I could return the item with a 15% fee. I was willing. but they did not accept the returnable item. I am forced to buy a product worth $300 which if they had helped me out in the beginning, would have been avoided. PLUS they wasted one month of my time.
Lena of Greeley, COO:
I bought a refurbished CTX Computers EZBook 700E series laptop computer last September 1999. I bought an extended warranty (one year) through Ubid at the same time I bought the computer (extended warranty company is Aon Innovative Solutions). I have found out it was probably refurbished by a company called Champion.
When I received the computer, I got a Windows 98 manual with registration number on it but no CD-ROM media; one screw was missing on the bottom, and the monitor looked stair-cased (bitmapped), and the shift, control, and up and down arrows on the keyboard did not work. I figured I could live with it the way it was except the monitor and the keyboard problems. I troubleshot it for driver problems and downloaded the correct driver for the monitor, which cleared up that problem. I continued to have keyboard problems, which were intermittent, and sometimes it worked in Safe Mode so I figured it was probably a software problem I could fix myself.
I emailed CTX and though I got an answer for the correct monitor driver, I didn't get a proper driver name for the keyboard. I tried researching and came up with no answers. In the meantime the problem was getting worse. Fewer and fewer keys on the keyboard were working until the keyboard completely stopped working. I had to hook up an external keyboard to have a usable laptop, which defeats the idea of a portable computer.
In addition, the plastic flaps that cover the ports on the back and the side have broken off; the hinges themselves broke. I have since read on this website other cases where the cable to the keyboard was bad as well as hinges!
I called Ubid for the extended warranty support. The extended warranty company, Aon Innovative Solutions, refuses to honor the extended warranty that I paid for. They are confused since I told them I had to hook up an external keyboard in order to use it. Apparently, external cables and peripherals are not covered by warranty. I spoke to a supervisor and he reiterated company policy after I tried once again to explain that the laptop keyboard failed. I was told I had to pay for the repair myself because they do not cover cables and that the flaws were in my computer from the beginning.
I was upset and frustrated that the extended warranty would not cover a flaw that came with my computer when I bought it. A person named Deep, the last person I spoke with, told me that I should not expect extended warranty to cover flaws that came with my computer. I tried to explain why it took me so long to find out it was a hardware problem rather than software, but he continued to insist that I should not expect warranty to pay for flaws in my computer! The damages I seek are for any compensation for the fact that I was inconvenienced by having to carry around an external keyboard twice the size of my laptop and therefore brought it to work less, and had to borrow other people's computers at work in order to get work done. The entire ordeal also turned me off of CTX computers and the poor quality of customer support offered by Ubid and Aon.
Eddy of Concord, CA:
Web is show a picture of an external drive but the product they shipped is an internal drive. There is no caption or warning under the picture stating this is not the exact product being sold. The picture is totally missleading. There are also others advertised the same way. How hard could it be to place a warning under the picture? Thousand of consumers could be affected. Individually it small but if you look at all the consumers it is huge.
