Edwin of Southaven, MS November 8, 2009 On 9/10/09,I purchased one lot of three tiny crosses at 2.00 each for a total of 6.00. I was charged 64.25 shipping & handling, plus a transaction fee of 2.11. Total cost for the 6 purchase was 72.36. When I complained about the excessive shipping charges I was given the standard reply about how expensive it is to ship items, even though the actual mailing cost was under 2.00. Even though this was a lot purchase of three items, they were not sold seperately, I was charged shipping as if they were three seperate items. They could give the stuff away and still make a very hansome profit on the outrageous shipping charges. The return policy is they will refund the purchase price, but not shipping charges. uBid.com is a scam and a rip off! I have closed my account and will never buy anything from uBid again! I was grossly over charged for my purchase and was deprived of funds that could have been better used elsewhere. I am retired and living on a fixed income, so every penny is budgeted. This overcharge caused me to run short that month. Patrick of Long Island City, NY October 28, 2009 Fool me once... And anybody would have to be stupid to bid on anything from uBid. (For me, NEVER again). I had bought a watch from them. The date dial and on of the buttons on the watch do not work properly. The box that the watch came in was scuffed up. And the shipping package did not come with a packing slip. I tried to contact them but there was no information that came with the watch. I had to go on line to send them an email. No response. I had called the 1-800 or 1-888 number and left multiple messages. Again. No response. Worst yet, I can't get Capital One to reverse the charges. I have explained to them that I did try to contact uBid multiple times to return the item. But if they don't call me back there is nothing I can do. And I am not going to throw money after bad to try to get a second opinion on the watch by going to a jeweler and pay them to tell me that the watch doesn't work. Needless to say, I am also cancelling my card with Capital One because I feel that they do not protect their customers. They don't want to offend the perpetrating merchant that continue to pay them a fee everytime a transaction is made on the Capital One card. Jim of Jacksonville, FL September 25, 2009 I bid on a two watches and won the bid, upon receiving neither one of these worked! Not only that you could tell these two watches have been shipped before. They where not in original packaging. I also bid and won a American Bald Eagle, upon receiving it was broken in three pieces. The eagle appeared to have been glued before it was shipped to me. I will NEVER purchase from Ubid.com! Linda of Aiken, SC August 27, 2009 Last year I went on Ubid's page... looking for items to buy and sale making a small profit by saling to peo-ple at the Flea market. After reading this not including hoe much I paid into this business. I wasn't always here in S.Carolina I recently moved here! I left calforina march 15, 09. I gave my son one of many watches I still have. Fail apart!!! The ring one of many I still have here. Before I left I gave to my son for his enagement to his Girlfriend lost it's diamond's and color. Erika of Camarillo, CA August 12, 2009 This is the third item I've bid on and it was a bit misleading. Ubid.com advertised a 16-piece tie set with starting bid of 1 each. There were a few bids for 1.00, so I placed a bid for 3.00. What the site does is then multiply the 3.00 x 16. Mind you, you have to buy this as a 16-piece set, so I would expect you are bidding on the entire lot. When I called, I was shocked at the tone of voice of the customer service rep. I explained I thought I was bidding on the entire 16-piece set and she said, "oh, I think I know what you are talking about--the ties, is it?" And I said yes (I think obviously they've had this problem before). She had a very insulting tone and told me it's very obvious right there on the page what I was bidding on (another way of saying I must be pretty dumb) and I said no, I think if you are selling something as a set and it shows a picture of a boxed set of 16 ties that most people would think they were bidding on the set. You don't multiply my bid 16 times. I don't go into a store and see a 16-piece plate set and think I am going to buy each individual plate out of the box, am I?
Marion of Evans, GA August 12, 2009 I have ordered a lot of Jewelry from UBID and now I am finding out that it is no good. Not only did the one I e-mailed them about lose it's gold. Another one that I tried did the same thing. They claim that they use only quality companies. This is not quality at all. This would be the kind you get out of a toy machine. I want a refund on all the Gold items I ordered. Gold that is a joke. I also have another item coming from you all: SD Beautiful 16.5" 2mm 18K Gold gf Ladies Necklace 902810840 1 of 1 15.49 This item probably will do the same thing. I have sent them e-mails and they will not answer my questions. Then I called them and they gave me the number to the company and I got no call back from them. UBID say's they have nothing to do with it. After me telling UBID this they company still has their idems a up for sell on UBID's site. This idem in their aid claims it is worth 285.00 C11483275 (3) 69.27. Maybe it is worth .05. Judy of San Jose, CA July 17, 2009 I bid on a computer that I could afford for my daughter(i'm a single parent on a fixed income). My daughter is starting college next month and she needed a note book computer, so I was searching the internet and i really don't know much about computers, so i blindly trusted what I read. The ad on the auction said satilite ready out the box. When we finally got the computer on july 14,2009 there was no book or manuel in the box, it was scratched on the part where you open the computer, the side that holds the memory card was broken. I turned it on to see how it would work and the computer would shut off. So we plug the cord in the wall and it still was shutting off. So immediately I called ubid the same day and gave them as much information as I could, so they told me to call the numbers on the enclosed flyer and I did. The next day I called ubid again and was givven an email address. I emailed them and the email came back it could not be delivered. I called again the following day and reported to ubid that the email address given to me did not work. A report supposedly taken and ubid email the company on my behalf. I called ubid again today-and all i was told is I have to give the company 48 hours to respond,I took the computer into a shop to have it checked out and I found out the computer is old and most of the parts that would need to be replaced possily may be hard to get and it would cost me about 400 plus 175 for labor in order for them to get the computer working correctly, and the repair man said they knew that the computer was old and not woking properly. So as I got back home and was talking on the phone to ubid company and explaining to them what was still going on, ubid said I'd have to wait for the company to respond-an email came thru to me from bestdealcomputer and they asked me to email them and explain to them everything I just explained to you and I did. So I got an email saying that I should not have taken it into the repair shop because parts had been remove and the repair man removed no parts other than open it up and point out everything that you can see with your eyes that's wrong and he cleaned it off and inserted a new memory card and it eas still trying to shut off, so the repair man told me to contact the comopany again and I did. This company bestdealcomputers says they will send me the exact same computer for an exchange. I just want my money back. please can your company help me because I'm not getting the help I need thru UBID! Jon of Cotati, CA July 2, 2009 My experience is with an auction site called Ubid.com and their parent company, Always at Market. I bought approx. 30 men's watches from them in Dec.,2008. They began to fail immediately. At first I was treated well because I bought so many watches and continued to buy watches. But as the failure rate climbed, I stopped buying. That was it. Watches continued to fail and I was told that they could be serviced but instead of receiving the good service I had gotten used to,(refund or exchange),I was told I could send the units in for service where they would be sent back to China and I wouldn't see them for 3-4 months. These watches may look "different and sexy" on the auction site but beware! The automatic movements are cheap Chinese crap!! (No racism intended) Despite their feeble attempts at a disclaimer on the "retail pricing", what you are getting are "2,000 watches" that aren't worth 25 bucks. Michael Williams was my best buddy, now neither he nor anyone else will return my calls. They auction several different "brands" but have you ever heard of any of them? And if you look closely, there is only ONE MANUFACTURER! The "different brands" thing is a gimmick. All the different brands are made by one cheapass company in China. Despite their attempts to create an "aura of mystique" around each company, it's all the same crap and the "mystique" is bull____. Watch out for other suckers like myself who got stuck with this junk and are trying to unload this crap on ebay, using the completely ficticious "list prices." "You may not regret it today or tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life." I am out over 1,000. Don't let it happen to you. Always at Market should be investigated by the Texas Authorities. Patrick of Jersey City, NJ June 19, 2009 I had bought a watch from them and the quality is definitely not as advertised. The button to change the date feel flimsy and one of the button does not always change the date a full notch when you want to advance it to the next day. I tried looking up on their site for a return policy or a contact but there is no such thing as an easy access to Ubid. The only mean of contact is to call their customer service number. I had called 4 times and not once did I get a live person. I finally left two messages and it has been a week now, nobody has called me back. Be very careful when you want to bid on anything or buy anything from them. Susan of Hull, GA May 10, 2009 I ordered two Arundo donax 'peppermint stick' and was sent something that looks like a bush. It would cost more of my hard-earned money and precious time to even try to get my money back. This is the second time I've ordered something from ubid and unlike ebay there is no one to contact with a problem. The first item was a blutooth with no volumn. I guess I'll just have to call it bought experience and lable myself a fool if I ever order from them again. Why doesn't someone stop them? |
