Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I was looking up budget planning and was charged $9.99 off my cell phone and I want my money back now, please!

I also received text messages from this website. I received 3 in 11 minutes! I searched online and found these complaints. I immediately called my carrier, Verizon, and they blocked 56483 and made note not to accept any charges for these text messages. I also filed a complaint online against the company with the FTC and the FCC. Use the FCC's 1088 form in case you want to do the same.

I received a text from 56483. I had no idea what or who it was so I did not open it. Then, I received two more texts from 56483. I opened one--it said that the information was requested by me and to reply with a "Y" to get news alerts. I never requested the information and I never signed up to receive alerts. I am on "do not call registry." I tried calling 888-833-0755 thrice but the call would not go through. I emailed this company to stop sending me texts for information I did not ask for. I received an auto reply email from them. I am forwarding this email, copying your homepage and sending it to the Federal Trade Commission.

I signed up by mistake. I read the previous message services and I was in the same pickle. I called them at 1-888-833-0755 and they were more than willing to refund and she was super nice and understanding. Read more: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/online/thenewsucanuse.html#ixzz16ylkg7I5. I got refunded on the spot.

I never subscribed to anything but was charged $9.99 on my cell phone. This is absurd and someone needs to do something to stop this from happening to us.

I noticed being overcharged on my cell phone bill. I use easy pay where they withdraw from a bank account, therefore I don't know specific charges unless I check my monthly paper statements which are generally a few weeks behind. I check my bank accounts several times a month. I noticed my phone was about ten bucks higher than usual. I went back over my statements and found "Other Service Provider Charges" included on the last sheet of my monthly statement.

I backtracked three months and discovered this had been going on for several months. I called my cell phone company to complain about this charge that I had not subscribed to and they told me that it was probably the result of a third party involvement. I recall one time entering my phone number in a pop-up screen to get results to a mapping request, which I thought was quite unusual but didn't consider it anything other than something like planting a cookie on my computer. How unfortunate for that naive assumption.

I asked my provider rep to remove the charges, explaining that I did not authorize this nor was I going to pay it. I didn't get a runaround from him, he gave me the number to thenewsucanuse. I called them immediately, and with a threat of my own invention about reporting them to my states AG. An immediate offer to return all of my money for three months, which was accurate, in two days. I received a check two days later.

This month I see the charge was again on my bill. I called my provider, T-mobile, again complaining and told them I was not going to pay this again, remove me from easy pay, and if they did not want to refund this last payment I would also report them to my State AG and cancel my contract with them immediately, which I would have. Anyway, to make it short, they canceled this last charge. I also called thenewsucanuse and used terms and words not flattering to the ears. All in all, I resolved it and was promised by both companies that this would never happen again.

I keep getting text messages from them that say I have to text "stop" back or they will start to charge me $9.99 a month. This is disgusting and unfair.

I signed up for Skype. This box came up and told me to put my cell phone number in it, **. Now they keep texting me to reply at $9.99. They keep texting me 20 cents a text that I don't have. And I can't talk to anyone to get my phone off their whatever service that I did not order. Please help.

I have no idea who or what this is and they charged my cell phone for $9.99. I would like a refund. I called the number 888-833-0755 given on this website by another person with the same problem. I managed to cancel the subscription, but I still need to get my refund. I am out of work and this extra charge has caused unnecessary hardship and stress.

This company billed my telephone company $9.99 for services not requested without my knowledge until I "just happened" to realize my telephone bill for that month was too high. I called my telephone provider who found the billing abuse came from an Internet source (not recognized as spam). The information on my bill said 56483 ***. However, on attempting to use Google search it found no such website. I re-entered and Google search still could not find it.

I have been charged on my cell phone for subscribing to this "whatever". I never subscribed to anything. This charge just appeared on my bill. I see others have complained of the same thing. Please stop this fraud on innocent people.

Termination and Cancellation of Services, I'm in the same pickle. I called them at 1-888-833-0755 and they were more than willing to refund and she was super nice and understanding. I got my refund in 2 days, I am out of the pickle now.

I also received this charge of $9.99 on my cell bill and called the 888-833-0755 number to find out what for. And they were nice enough to mail out a refund in one to two days.

Info to stop, this deducted $9.99 off my phone! I have no idea what this is. I did not subscribe to anything. It ripped me off! And there is no phone number to call to complain or anything.

I visited the site "thenewsucanuse" and all I got was this site for complaints! I want my money back! I want to know who is doing this to me! Please help me get my money back and put an end to this scam!

As a result to this, I have $1 balance now on my phone, and can't buy another phone card till Thursday. I need to be able to comunicate to my kids which are visiting their grandparents in Florida. I'm so angry that someone did this to me! Please locate the people responsible for this action. there was no name of a person or number of any kind to call to see who did this.

The message said it was from "unlimited access", now I'm totally stressed. This is my only phone and I need to be able to talk with my kids after tomorrow. I will not be able to communicate to them till Thursday evening when I get paid. Please help me.

I went to site to search a news story. Never subscribed. They charged me for subscription just to pull the site up $9.99 + tax.

What happened to me seems to be what is happening to every person here making a complaint against thenewsucanuse.com. I neither authorized, nor ordered the $9.99 charge against my T-Mobile sidekick bill, which likewise was credited back. But T-Mobile told me that I had to send a text to that address: thenewsucanuse.com with the word (stop) from my sidekick. That address would not accept my text, so here I am! I want someone to put a stop to that fake company along with another one named Hot-Hot-News.com--that did the exact same thing!

I received my bill from AT&T and found a communication charge from TheNewsUCanUse.com. This service was neither ordered nor requested, but somehow appeared on the billing with the indication that this is a monthly charge of $9.99. I called AT&T Wireless and they have credited my account for the charges. AT&T was also very gracious about removing the charge. The charge will be reversed and no economic damage resulted other than the time I spent on the phone with AT&T trying to get the charges reversed. The cost to AT&T (and other carriers) must be phenomenal in customer service time, irate customers that blame the wireless carrier, and potential loss of business.

I was using my cell phone to get information on movie tickets from Fandango. The next thing I hear is some salesman saying that I had just purchased their plan, and would be charging me $9.99 per month through my cell phone bill. They even sent me a password to use. I tried getting Fandango's attention to this matter, but they put me on hold for long periods of time. I finally called customer service for T-Mobile, and they took care of this problem immediately. I hope this helps someone in the future.

I have no idea who or what this is and I received a text from them and they charged my cell phone $9.99. I would like a refund.

I was trying to locate Starbucks when this scam came up and asked me my phone number to get the location of Starbucks, and their phone numbers. Then the charge came up on my phone for $9 a month for service that I did not ask for.

TheNewsUCanUse.com charged a $9.99 monthly subscription fee to my cell phone bill for a "map service." This is a fraud. I did not subscribe to any such thing, not even by accident. I called them and they said they would mail a refund check. I can't wait to see if that ever comes. I as able to have AT&T reverse the charges for the two months they charged. They suggested a purchase lock on the line to prevent future fraud. This will prohibit my use of the account for legitimate purposes.

This is the second time I have had charges to my cell phone that I never authorized. TheNewsUcanUse.com just went ahead and charged my cell phone $9.99 + $.80 in tax for a subscription to their plan. I have to pay the full amount plus another month's charge for this company and then AT&T will adjust my bill. It should be adjusted immediately and this charge should never happened. I am sure some people who never look over their bills just go ahead and pay this charge that was never approved. This is inappropriate to the consumer and should be dealt with ASAP. I hope to hear from you about this incident. I cannot afford any additional charges to my cell phone. I am a retired teacher from Texas and just barely make ends meet. I have to work part-time to make ends meet.
