QuikQuarter.com

Patricia of Akron OH writes (3/4/03):
I listed a travel trailer on QuikQuarter.com and someone responded to the ad. They were out of the Country so he had someone in the US that owed him money, send it to me. The Cashiers Check was for $12,200 and I sold the trailer for $8,000. The other money was to be sent via Western Union to their shipper in Nigeria. This guy seemed legit, but I guess he wasn't.

I am out $4,200 because the Cashiers Check came back fraud. The bank is holding me responsible solely. They did not put a hold on the check and they have no way of checking to make sure it is a valid Cashiers Check. I have reported this to FBI and am reporting it to as many places as I can.

Buyer beware! Classified ads, whether online or in the newspaper, are almost totally unregulated. It's a good rule of thumb to never transact any international business unless you know the other party. There is no legal protection worth speaking of.
