EZ Combs

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I have lost count of the number of times I purchased EZ Combs, but judging from the number of instructional inserts I have acquired that I did not throw out with the broken product, I'd say at least ten times. On page one it states "do not be afraid to stretch them as far as you need across your hair." Most broke on the first try. Those that I got to wear a time or two, I loved the look. Which is why I kept buying more, thinking the quality would eventually meet the instructions. Of course I do not have the receipts, which fade in a matter of days anyway. But that statement signifies one or both of two things.

One, the product is expected to last only thirty days, per their "guarantee"; and/or two, per their directive on use, the thirty days stipulation directly invalidates their instructions. I intend to, without original packaging and receipts, send the whole broken lot that I did keep along with the inserts back and expect them to be replaced or change that wording to something more along the lines of, "The elastic is very thin, delicate and unreliable and if not utilized with extreme caution, the product will break before you get a chance to insert them into your hair."

We received two combs as a gift for use at graduation. The first time they were tried on both of them broke. EZ Combs only guarantee them for 30 days and if you have an account with them. How much use would you get out of combs like this in 30 days? If they know they last, they should guarantee them that length of time and support a reasonable replacement policy.

I bought a set of 2 on sale for $5 at Walgreens. One of the strings broke a week later. I took it with my receipt and no package and Walgreens refunded my money. The 5 bucks probably did not pay for my gas, but I let Walgreens know that in my opinion, this is a bad product. I also advised the manager of all the complaints I found on this website about the product. I think that the best complaint you can give a retailer is to return it to them for a refund, the more they have to refund to us, the less likely they are going to order it again. Also, for all those people that bought the combs via their web site, all you need to do after trying to solve the matter yourself is call your credit card company, have them issue a credit to your card. They will open a dispute and charge back the company. Credit card companies are specially interested if you report that you think you are the victim of fraud.

I purchased ez combs for my daughter. She has thin hair. She used it 2 times, and the elastic bands broke. I think that if you pay 10.00 plus tax, that it should last longer than 2 times. I feel that I was ripped off, and all I want is my money back.

I bought a package of EZ Combs, and went to use it as directed (it even says, "Don't worry about stretching it too far, it's made out of super strong, unbreakable threads!!" beads went flying everywhere. The entire thing broke apart. The other one (this package was brand new by the way) had bands that were so loose, it couldn't even hold my hair, it was like it wasn't even elastic at all (maybe it was for super thick/long haired people? I have hair down to my middle back).

I have gotten hair ties at the dollar store sturdier than this. Very disappointed. I wasted my money. It was not worth the price it is advertised for. The beads could have injured someone (especially in the eye) at the force with which they flew out in all directions.

i bought the EZ Combs and thought they would be a neat way to do something different with my hair . and i took them out of the package to try them and they broke and an fell apart all the beads went flying everywhere im not to happy because i feel like my money was waisted

I ordered E-Z Combs for my granddaughter for Christmas. Now I have been receiving $8 checks from ???? as a customer of E-Z Comb. The first check I cashed, thinking I had overpaid. THe second check I threw away, this last check I still have, but will not cash. I read the fine print and learned that I was actually joining something I had no intention of joining. I think this is a very bad practice. We are retired, on a fixed income and cannot afford $129xx for whatever this is suppose to be. I hold E-Z Combs responsible and hope that you can do somthing to make all of this go away. I know I am not the only one scammed.

I purchased 2 sets in Nov 08. I received 1 set. I received a check from EZ Comb for around $8 in May 09. I figured they did their audit and realized I only received one set. I cashed the check.

Today I received a membership to CompleteHome in a fat envelope with a plastic card, my name and member number. I almost threw it away and then I decided to read it. If I did not cancel the membership in 30 days - I would be billed $129.99 for the annual fee.

I called -- found out that I was made a member because I cashed a check from EZ Comb. I made it clear that I wanted to cancel several times. I did get a cancellation number and was told that I will not be billed. Another marketing scam! This is really a nasty practice especially in today's economy.

I just bought a package of EZ Combs from a local retailer. The back of the package clearly says free online styling video. I logged onto Telebrands.com and followed the links to the EZ Combs website. There was no video and anything you clicked brought you to an order form. In order to get the free video, you had to pay $6.99 S&H plus $10, plus another $6.99 for shipping. Total cost $26.98. How is that free? I called the company to say I couldn't find the free online video. They told me that I would have to order the product online. I restated that I had bought it from a retailer. They told me to complain to the retailer. I told them to me a free online video meant that I could log on and watch it on my computer. They argued with me on that also. I asked to talk to a supervisor but they refused. Since then, I have contacted the retailer that I plan on returning the product and will speak to their buyer to see if I can get the product pulled from their store. They are a nationwide chain. I will also contact the BBB and the Attorney General in my state.

I ordered three EZ combs over the Web for my wife when we saw a TV advertisement. I did this mid-February 09. The webpage was terrible as it kept trying to get me to order extra combs or other items. And as many have stated, the shipping charges jumped to $7 after I finally got to checkout. I waited and my combs never arrived. I'm writing today to say what everyone else has said, but on top of that, I now get a couple of unsolicited offers that are in the form of checks to cash from companies EZ Combs has sold my address and credit information to.

I purchased a set of EZ Combs at Walmart for just under $10 for my 10-year old daughter who has seen them advertised on TV and really wanted a set. After removing an EZ Comb for the package, I attempted to put it in her hair, but one of the tiny threads that holds the decorative beads to the comb snapped off with the stretching and the whole strand of beads came apart. While looking at it to see if I could have it repaired, I noticed another loose strand and then another. The whole thing was coming undone with a simple stretching of the comb (which you have to do to out it in the hair).

I purchased EZ Combs over the phone but I did not request for the extra combs--the "designer" combs. They sent them to me and charged my credit card. I returned the designer combs, as requested, but I still have not received my refund as of today.

I purchased EZ Combs online on January 13/09 and have never received them. I have called the 800 number on my credit card summary. The first time (2/09) I called, the girl said they were sent out already. I explained that I had not received them and she said she would put in a new order. One month later, still nothing. So I called another time and asked for the combs or my money back. Oh, we will put in a new order for you. This is June. I have called them 3 times and still don't have my money back or the EZ Combs. This company should not be allowed to get by with doing people like this. I lost my money to EZ Combs and I can't afford to lose that kind of money. They don't tell you about the huge shipping charge. They are a total rip-off to the people who order from them!

I bought some EZ Combs from Walgreens for about $10. It seemed like a cute and beneficial accessory. As soon as I started putting the comb in my hair, I noticed that the paint on the comb was coming off. I worried a little bit about the durability of the combs because the stretchy strings were simply tied onto the combs. I have natural African American hair, so I knew that I had to be careful about stretching the comb out too much in my thick hair.

I wore the EZ comb from Wednesday to Friday and took it out. Then on Saturday, I wanted to put it in for a different style and pop! The beads popped off one of the strings! I still have one EZ Comb intact, but I'm afraid to use it.

I placed an order for one EZ Comb on May 27, 2009. It did not tell me until after it charged my credit card that the shipping was $20.97 for my $10 item. I called that night to cancel my order and left a message with no return call. I called the following day and all three times I called I was told to call back later because they were updating their system. When I finally spoke to someone on June 1st, they first could not find my order even though they had already charged my card, then I was told to fax a copy of my bank statement as proof, which I did. I followed up on the 2nd and no one knew what I was talking about. I requested it to be cancelled again and was told to call back tomorrow. It has taken me a week and several phone calls to cancel my order but they still have not refunded my money.

This company's website is tricking consumers, they are offering apparently to be some kind of discount, but the truth of matter is they "Over Charging" consumer with shipping/handling, the product itself is ONLY $10.00, but they charged $20.97 for delivering the product, it is just combs, not some heavy or weight connected products, plus the website doesn't allow you to confirm or cancel the order before the actual confirmation button is pressed, so they leave us no choice once we hit no, thanks.

The phone number of Customer Service is not free and always busy or no one answered the phone, I feel this company is dishonest and needed to improve their business conduct, it gives consumers a lot of headache and unnecessary charges and time, they need to be informed and correct their way of doing business.

I purchased EZ Combs at Walgreens in Blue Island Il.for $ 9.99.

They wont stay in my hair! That and they bend so easily I can see that even if I got them to stay they would most likely break!

Complete rip-off!

I purchased two EZ Combs yeterday. I placed one in my older daughter's thick hair this morning and the thin cord of beads broke and beads went flying everywhere! I placed the other comb in my younger daughter's hair which is soft and thin and the combs fell out! Two different hair types, two different problems. Come on! Get a product that works and is sturdy! Horrible product! Do not buy this product!

I have had a similar experience as everyone else. I have not tried it out yet, but I was charged about $89 for 2 orders. Somehow I ended up ordering the designer collection($47.97 + free shipping for those items only). Then my original order, which hasn't arrived(yet) (2 orders $10 each set +$6.99 s+h each set), plus the 2 free black combs and dvd ($6.99 s+h). For the prices that are being charged, you would think the product would be of good quality.

The shipping price that was paid for my order is way too much, I could have bought a pair of shoes for that!!! The whole process was extremely misleading, and unprofessional. I will tell anyone that this product is a rip-off scam. How can shipping cost over $20 when the product is shipped in little plastic zipper bags, in a tiny box, and it weighs close to nothing. I have shipped bigger packages that have cost less.

I placed an order on-line with EZ Combs on 1/21/09 for their basic $10 comb set and a free bonus comb, with an advertised shipping price of $6.99.

The first problem I had was the double shipping charge of $13.98 (exceeding the item price) which did not appear until the order was complete. I immediately called to cancel the order, and they gave me a $5 credit.

After several weeks, I had not received the order, so I called on 2/16/09 to cancel, and I was promised that the combs had been shipped and would arrive that week. But this did not happen.

On 3/2/09 I called again and was again told the combs would arrive that week, and to call back if I did not want them. For every phone call, I was on hold for 10 to 20 minutes, waiting for someone to speak with.

Finally on 3/16/09 I received a broken box, poorly packaged, with damaged combs inside. I called again, but they would not credit the full amount I paid. Since the shipping was delayed and the product was damaged, I wanted a refund for the outrageous shipping charge.

I received my purchase late and damaged. The merchant was unwilling to provide a full refund.

I saw the EZ combs ad on TV and went to the website. They advertised 3 combs and DVD for $10.00 plus $6.99 shipping. After I entered my VISA info, the next page told me my order came to $16.99 and I qualified for some great deals that would come up on the next page. Clicking to continue, the deal was for another set of three for $10 and FREE SHIPPING. So I thought I'd give a set to my daughter, and ordered it. Now the total comes up $20.000 and a shipping annd handling charge of $20.97! No free shipping at all and the order is completed, no chance to confirm and approve the order.

Then I get an email saying my order qualifies for a FREE SHIPPING rebate and click to claim. When I clicked on that, what comes up is a free shipping club they want you to join, the first 30 days free and then they will bill you monthly. AND they want your VISA info again. I got out of there pronto and hope I won't be charged, because I certainly did not join their deceptive advertising scam. Please shut this company down!

My beads to my one ezcomb string broke while I had it in my hair, and my co-worker was picking up little beads out of my hair. Also, the combs bend way to easy if you have really thick hair. They should have a thicker comb and/or a latch to keep it in place if you have thick hair. When I got home that day, the string was tangled and string and beads a mess.

I ordered one set of EZ Combs over the phone in which I saw on T.V. From the first word, the recording was unclear. The ad on T.V. made it look as though you received three combs per set for $10.00 plus $7.00 S/H. The recording made it sound like you only got two combs per set with $7.00 S/H. The recording kept prompting me to enter my order for more than one set in order to get more than two combs.

I simply ignored all prompts and entered only the prompt ordering the recording to send me just 2 combs for $10.00 plus the $7.00 S/H. The recording did not give me a total price for my order after giving it my card number and rambled on and on trying to sell me everything under the sun plus the combs. The only reason I stayed on the phone was because I had already enterd my Visa card information and was waiting for the total sum of money that would be deducted from my checking account to be given me. Finally, the recording stopped trying to sell me everything in the world and I thought finally I had come to the end of it and would get my total cost and some type of confirmation number, etc.

Well, I got neither. The recording simply thanked me for my order and I was disconnected from the recording. This took place on March 8, 2009. I went ahead and deducted $20.00 from my checking account balance. I have since tried to get through the T.V. 800 number and the phone number for the customer service get a recording stating that number is not a valid number. So, far no money has been taken from my account for the combs, but I keep checking it daily as they have my Visa card information.

On December 27, 2008 I ordered EZ combs for the price of 9.99 plus shipping.

Immediately thereafter I cancelled it because my daughter said that she had already purchased it.

One month later, Jan 27th they charged my visa card with 25.97 and for 51.92 without authorization.

I called the number given to me by my credit card company 800-777-4034 and talked to a 'representative' of Telebrands. The prompts finally led to me EZ combs and I spoke to a person who had no inkling about the charges. I called six times and finally found someone who did find the amounts charged. I explained that I refused the shipment of two packages. He said that he would put through a credit.

Twice thereafter I had to call.
On Feb 17th they credited me 9.99 (25.97 minus shipping charges) I called them axplaining that I did not order this and that I should not be charged shipping charges.
To this date I have not received the refund for the 51.92.

Honestly I don't know what to do and if anybody can assist me in getting my justifiable refund, I would appreciate it.

I am out money that I can not afford.
I am a senior and live on a fixed, limited income.
They have 'customer service' which is nothing but a scam artist group employed by Telebrand.

Loss of money, anxious calls to my credit card company and the Telebrand company hav caused me much inconveniences and anxieties.

I purchased EZ Combs at Walgreens in Prescott Valley, AZ.for $ 9.99. I took them home & tried to use them to create the hair fashions that were shown on the EZ Combs website. I owned the EZ Combs for 15 minutes when the flimsy elastic snapped & the tiny beads catapulted onto the floor & dispersed everywhere. The product got tangled up very, very easily & was so difficult to unwind. The EZ Combs idea is a good one. However, the product itself is constructed extremely poorly.

This product can be very dangerous when it breaks (It comes apart without much effort) because the tiny beads can easily be swallowed by small children & pets also. If one of the beads gets under-foot, a person can slip on it & get really hurt!

I just ordered 3 EZ Combs and the check out page said the price was $10 plus 6.95 s/h. Then when the final receipt popped up, it said s/h was $13.95. Not only is this fraudulent practices, but it is ridiculous to try to charge more for shipping and handling than the product costs. This company should be stopped. This should be illigal.

The fact is they are tacking on $7 to pocket at each comsumer's expense. False representation. Flat out lie.

I purchased four of these combs today.
I had only had them for about two hrs when the strechy elastic holding the beads on broke. The quality was not what I had expected especially when I has just paid $20. They also get tangled easily and are almost impossible to get untangled.

I also spent hrs trying to create the hairstyles that they said you could do. THEY DO NOT LOOK LIKE THE VIDEO. They also claim that it is a snap to do. What a load of hogwash! They are not easy to use.

Improve the quality of your product so that with simple use that the strechy elastic wont snap the minute you use it. I am not a happy consumer
