Consumer Complaints & Reviews

We bought 100 credits on 6/3/11 and had 7 credits left equaling a total of 107 credits. On 1/13/12, we received an email that we only had 4 credits left. I asked for the names of all background checks requested as we didn't believe we had used that many. They came back with, "I highly suggest you check with them regarding what they sent as well if you feel there is an error. There really should be no error on our end as each form you send is simply tallied in your account." We had this problem last time we renewed when they told us we didn't have credits left when we did. I told them I had counted on our end and again asked that they send me a list of names. They resent me all the report they had sent us. I went through each one and there were 94 credits used, which means there should be 13 left.

As a side note, among the reports they resent, they included multiple doubles, checks sent outside of the date range we were talking about, credit checks and even one background check that I'm assuming was confidential but wasn't one we had requested. They then told me that there were no excess credits when we renewed and that they take half a credit for wrong SSN which makes up for the extra credits. I sent them our online chat correspondence from prior to buying the 100 that told how many credits we had left and also I asked them to send me the names of SSNs we got wrong as I only recalled one instance of that happening. They responded that they "do not have time to go back over individual names and keep going back and forth with this."

It is easy enough to count the emails to come up with a number. They clearly do not keep track of orders placed and have twice tried to tell us we didn't have credits when we did. I don't know whether this is from poor record keeping or from trying to rip customers off. The fact that they sent us a background check that was not ours tells me they are not able to keep these records confidential either. Right off the bat, they were completely rude to us just because we wanted to verify the number as it didn't match with our records.

I purchased two items from their website and have received nothing after several dead calls and no response emails. They are a scam, and I would implore all those who read this not to even enter the scam site, let alone spend a penny that you'll never receive anything for. Scam, scam, scam. How is this site still up?

Above internet search company advertises that they can locate federal convictions. I paid $9.99 for a search by name and date of birth of a person I know was in federal prison because I located his appeal in Pacer. The best I could get from the above company was that no record could be found. They did provide me with a free Department of Prisons web-site which I used and I found the inmates release date although the above company claimed there was no information there either. This is just another of the ever growing number of internet public record sites that are complete frauds.

My family and I have a family friend that we have known only for a few months, they seemed like a decent person. We went camping with this person for about two weeks this last summer, during the camping trip this person was flighty coming and going from campsite to campsite. After a couple of days this person came out of the blue and stated that they had to be in Canada where their children were and their children could not come to the U.S for some reason. We decided to stay and this person left.

On the way home my oldest son noticed that the two Gameboy D.S systems that he had in the back seat were gone! We had the doors locked in our vehicle the entire camping trip. My family was immediately sure that this person had taken the gameboy systems because they were the only person that had used our keys to retrieve something from our vehicle. When we arrived home we contacted the people that our so-called family friend lives with and we were informed that things have been dissapearing from their farm.

Alarm Bells went off and to make a long story short we went online looking for a reputable company to assist us in finding out the backround of this person. We had all of the information we needed for this person including a certain number you need for each individual, addresses, and birth date. We employed the services of EFINDOUTTHETRUTH.

waited a long weekend and this is what was emailed to me from this company: Subject Name: ***** **** Date of Birth: xxxxxxxx Response: Clear. No Criminal Records Found. CRIMINAL AND SEX OFFENDER RECORDS- US NATIONWIDE / OFAC

This is all of the information we received, no additional information at all. For the $49.99 I believe that we should have received more information than just a one line sentence stating "no records found"! I'm not one to complain often, but I do feel slightly ripped off.

They promise things they can't or won't deliver and when they get your money they hide behind their no refund policy and refuse to answer e-mails. I first paid $10 for a report that was totally useless because the information I needed was quite old and I told them this from the start.

Like an idiot I let them talk me into doing a 50 year "county wide search" costing $237. Because the $10 search was totally useless, they offered to roll that charge into the new search, which they did not do. They were supposed to send a trained PI to manually search county microfiche records. I waited a month and sent them an e-mail. after a week or so they sent me a so-called report that consisted of a single line saying no records found. When I asked them for more details they totally ignored me.

I have no proof whatsoever they did what they said they would do. No names, dates, places, records, or anything that would give me some assurance they did the work. When I asked for further details they refused to answer my e-mails. Judging from other complaints it would seem I am not the only one:

Ordered a background check on a business that was a prospective client on approx. May 14, 2004. This company is publicly traded and was advised we would be performing such due diligence. EFindOutTheTruth.com represented that it provided such a service, and the deluxe business search was $39.95.

I was aware of numerous prior business addresses and business names, and of claims and judgements of the prospective client from public records and filings with the SEC. Only one address was returned on the search and no other information in about 10 different categories. I protested the service and requested a refund. I was told the search was valid. I responded again through several emails that the service was bogus and demonstrated that the information that they supplied was lacking by reference to other public information available, and that I wanted to discuss a refund in accordance with their stated policy for customer satisfaction and refunds.

I received no further reply. I advised them that if they continued to ignore my requests for resolution I would contest the charges to my credit card, which I did. After providing all the information to my credit card company, including the email correspondence, the charges were reversed about 2 weeks ago. Today I received an email from Efindoutthetruth.com threatening to contact the prospective client that the search I requested was done fraudulently unless I paid them immediately. I do not know what to do about this threat of blackmail and there needs to be action taken against these people.
