eBay

Back in prehistoric times, bosses worried that workers were using the office Internet connection to look at pornography. After that it was Amazon.com. Now it's eBay and the other auction sites.

Walk through any office around 8:30 a.m. and everyone's logged on and ready for another day. Only thing is, instead of reading the CEO's latest rantings, they're buying antique waffle irons on eBay and selling some left-over parts from that old Studebaker out in the back yard.

The whole thing works more or less on the honor system, which is pretty much how speed limits work. Our suspicion has been that if you held up a radar gun, you'd find a lot of people speeding -- and a lot of others (or maybe the same ones) not coming through with the merch.

Here are a few of the more recent complaints we've received:

Sandy of Freehold NJ (10/09/08)
I was recently susspended from ebay, before i was suspended i had 2 items that were won but not paid for and i proceded to open up an unpaid item report for both of them to get back my final value fees that ebay had taken, well once ebay suspended me they didnt give me back any of that money nor did they answer any of my emails regarding the subject. That was my money they took from me and didnt care once they suspended me and another thing is that i got a generated email of my monthly fees and it said i had a credit of 50 something dollars, well if they suspended me then how could they give me a credit.

I sent another email to try and get the credit and my final value fees back and again they didnt even respond to me. This is absolutly ridiculus and that is stealing, that money is not theirs and they are so STRICT with their rules and policys, but the consumer is out of luck. That is a horrible way to run a big company.

They have taken money from me and with these times and the economy the way it is, i could use it to put food on the table. It doesnt matter if it was 2 or 100 it is the point.

The first time I ordered through Ebay, I got the product as ordered and at the price, but about a week later I got a call comfirming reservations on Air France. Someone had gotten my info from my credit card and ordered Air France tickets. When I call the credit card there were several other itens charged that I did not order (even from Ebay).

The credit card made the reverse credit to my card and at no cost to me, but there was time and worry until I got my statement.

I don't even know where to start with this. I was suspended a year ago on ebay for seller/buyer issues, after 3 months of getting nothing but automated responses from ebay, I got it resolved. Now because of the fact that their policy now states that buyers are the ONLY ones to leave negative feedback and there are NO steps they have to take before they do so, I am no suspended. And of course ebay does not have any way of communication thru the suspension group other than email. This is absolutly rediculous, and not professional in any way shape or form. Paypal at least gives you the option to call in.

I think this is very poor buisness conduct, and now have the fear of waiting yet another 3 months of getting this reinstated..and for what. And to top it off, while my account is suspended, no one,and I mean no one can send me money on items won, I cannot pay them, and to top off, because this is a feedback issue, they cannot leave any feedback whatsoever. And vice versa. I am demanding that ebay reinstate my acct. I don't care how high and far I have to go for this. I would like a response from at least the complaint dept as soon as possible.

i bought an item from ebay in good faith, used my credit card, it was scheduled to arrive via usps three weeks ago, but it never came, sent e-mails to try and contact the seller, but he never answered any of them,

i tried to contact ebay about this, but they have not been any help either ,pleaes tell what course of action can take in this matter. i am afraid that my credit card number may be used in identity theft, please help me!

Amy of Waynesboro, PA September 26, 2008

Amy of Waynesboro PA (09/26/08)
I was suspended from eBay. No big deal if I violated a policy, but they won't disclose which auction was in violation. Even if I get the suspension lifted my reputation is ruined. I don't know if the loss of income is worse or just not knowing what I did wrong. I have asked for all documentation regarding my account and cited the Freedom of Information act. Keep getting canned emails. There is no way to appeal a suspension if they do not inform me of the violation. I too have been victim of listings taking hours to appear on eBay.

I count on eBay to make ends meet. I recently invested about 500 in items to sell on ebay. That is substantial for me. I lost that money and who knows how much in potential income. All my current listings were removed and that was all the money I had. I had to borrow money to get gas to get to work.
