eBay - Merchandise Not Received |

Jo of Bloomington IL (1/4/05):
I purchased a Polaris Ranger 6x6. This was a buy-now item. I purchased the item for $3,100. I received numerious e-mails from the seller, Edward T and Square Trade, that assured me that the was a member in good standing and had a $10,000 account with Square Trade in case there was a problem. Square told me to send the money by Western Union to London England. They also said they would keep the information about the money transfer from him until I notified them that I had received the item. I never received the item. eBay tells me I purchased the item outside of eBay and they are not responsible for my loss. They say that someone stole Edward T's account. They knew about it and took care of him, but not any of the buyers. I want my money back. I don't care what they say. I bought the item thru eBay and Square Trade. This is just another way they get out of holding their end of the deal. They only protect the seller, not the buyer. Dale of Pekin IL (11/16/04):
I found out what the problem was. Ebay refuses to give law enforcement contact information about Ebayers even if they commit a crime. The FBI may be able to get the information but the Pekin PD could not. This means I am out the money. How many others are there like me? Ebay tells me, too bad -- you should have bought our insurance. What? So they are harboring crooks and unless you pay more money you will be taken and that is a shame. This Ebayer continues to operate and Ebay refuses to suspend his “Powerseller account”. Liliane of San Antonio TX (11/15/04):
I immediately contacted the seller - no response. I filed with Ebay and their so-called HELP and mediators. Have yet to hear from them. In the meantime I sent the computer to a technician to give me an assessment of this laptop. This computer had stripped and missing screws on the back panel that should typically be accessed only by computer technicians. The computer would cost more to repair than it is worth. I believe he intentionally misrepresented the product with the intent to commit a fraudulent transaction. We will never trust or shop Ebay again and will warn others through word of mouth as well. I live in Texas and we can return a product within 3 days regardless of contracts. So what's a consumer to do in this situation? My son was devastated. This was his first summer job work experience and he was very proud that he did not spend his paychecks and diligently saved for this first big purchase. The seller had great ratings and credibility according to Ebay. My son was going to use this for his college classes. $700.00 is a lot of money to lose; especially for a teenager. I would like to show him the consumer does have some rights and recourse and that we should fight for what is right and punish those that are corrupt and do wrong! Brad of Ft. Campbell KY (10/18/04):
Richard of Palmdale CA (7/29/04):
Connie of Tampa FL (4/7/04):
Well, I was upset. It has been excuse after excuse -- she tells me she has 30 days to ship. I filed a complaint with ebay, they contacted her and she tells them that she doesn't want to use the Square Trade and ebay closes the case. Now I am out $211. I paid for something I can not seem to get. Steven of Vista CA (4/3/04):
Purchased a computer video card, paid $113.00 through PayPal. Seller disappeared, PayPal giving crook too much time to run, before they do anything, eBay refuses to do anything till 30 days passes. Money out of my disability check. PayPal may come through and get my money back, but am very upset they wait and give the extra time to a crook. By 4-98-04 if the Seller does not resolve issue, PayPal will 'try' to get my money back. Art of Port Monmouth NJ (3/7/04):
Ebay and Paypal protection services are a scam and the goverment and better business services should force them to stop their claims. Antonio of Brooklyn, NY, writes (4/21/01):
Question: Should my bank Chase be responsible for the loss or the the bank where the funds were payable through since the check was not written out for third party clearance. On serveral occasions we have tried to contact to see if we could file a claim and we got total rejection saying can do nothing they have no information but on the back of the check is the account number with the address of the bank. Did Chase write a certified check for $1,551 to a total stranger? No, Antonio did, so how does he think Chase is at fault? Antonio is basically out of luck through his own negligence. Bradley of Lexington KY (1/13/02):
The processor was supposed to be a christmas gift for me, financed by my grandmother. I feel like an idiot because my family is asking if I have recieved the processor and I keep telling them it hasn't arrived. I really don't want to tell them because I want to avoid the "I told you so" attitude from them, I'm sorry that I ever trusted Ebay. Marilyn of Rockaway, NJ, writes:
I did not hear from him until I filed a claim through ebays Square Trade program on March 6, asking for a refund. He responded by again saying that he would ship when he gets back, but never mentioned when that would be. It is now Apri 10, 2001, and I have not heard from him. It's been two months and I think that I am entitled to a refund. I went through the process of filing a fraud claim via ebay and was informed that I had to wait 30 days before filing an insurance claim. On the 29 day ebay informed me that since I hadn't filed the insurance claim within 30 days I was not intitled to any insurance and they were closing the case. It stated in a few places on ebay that I had up to 90 days to file for an insurance claim. It seems that I not only got ripped off by Mr. Shekmer but also Ebay. I might also add that Mr.Shekmer has gotten three more negative feedbacks on ebay making it a total of 5. |
