Shawna of Anaheim, CA April 22, 2009 Investigator M. Billings called members of my family looking for me and threating that I was going to be involved in a law suit if I did not return her phone call right away. Please note, she did not know that the people she called were actually my family but she left my personal information on their answering machines. When I called her back she said that I owed Providian Bank 4790.09 and if I didn't pay I was going to court. But if I was willing to take a settlement and make a payment using my checking account or credit card then I could avoid legal action. I was then transfered to T. Detoth who would not provide me any information as to why I owed this money but that I could get that after I made some sort of payment. I felt this was a scam but they tried to convince me otherwise all the while threating legal action against me if I didn't pay. Well, guess what it is a scam and they are violating the Fair Debt Collection Act by harrasing me over a debt that is over 10 years old. When I called them back to dispute this they wouldn't speak with me. I have also reported them to the Fair Trades Comm and The BBA in Georgia. David of San Diego, CA April 15, 2009
I had several back and forth responses during this complaint and they agreed to pay for shipping to exchange these shoes but I had to pay for a 40 printer ribbon in order to have ink to print the UPS label and I had to pay the 7 for the package tape. Although Patricia C. Rice appologized, she refused to really accept fault for the company and even admitted that they sell defective shoes (I still have the e-mail that she sent me on this) and said that they are usually inspected first to avoid this issue. There is nothing on this website that disclaims this and I had no clue that I was buying defective shoes that were not good enough to be in the store. She refused to mail me the replacement shoes until she received back my pair of shoes even though they had my credit card information on file and could have charged me if I didn't (but why would I want a pair of deffective shoes). She also made a horrible attempt to make me happy by giving me a 10 off coupon off of any purchase of 25 or more. I was insulted with this coupon as I had already spent almost 50 on expenses to return these shoes and I had wasted several hours of time playing a cat and mouse game with this company. I also would never purchase anything from this company again so the coupon is useless to me. A few days passed and I was able to get the supplies and found a UPS store to ship this package of shoes back to the company. Almost 2 weeks later, I received a package from this company again. I opened the package, happy that I could finally stop taking off my shoes several times a day at work. When I opened the shoe box, I was FURIOUS to find that either they sent me the exact same pair of defective shoes or a pair that had the EXACT same defficiencies. The left shoe was once again fine and the right shoe once again had a badly scratched up toe and had two strips of leather that were missing from the exact same part of the heel.
This company is incompetant and the consumer masses need to know this. Additionally, this company is sending defective products to consumers without the consumer knowledge and I have proof of this. Then this company make it very difficult to return and get replacement shoes just in order to ship the same pair of defective shoes back to the customer. I want this to be as public as possible because companies like this should NOT be in business. Brenda of Hopkins, SC March 31, 2009 This company called my residence asking for a tenant, which he did not list my numbers, they told him that this was a debt since 1990, and that with interest 2,000.00. I Just think this invaded his privacy and they should not have called my house, because this is his private business. Report Your Experience
