AOL Offers to Settle Federal Charges
Class Action Suit Filed

Olga of Antioch CA (7/12/02):
I ordered a Middle School Advantage 2003 at the sale price of $29.95 for one and they charged me $39.95 for one plust tax and S/H, the total came to $50.77.

David of San Antonio TX (9/16/02):
On 8/20/2002 I ordered the High School Advantage 2003 from AOL Shop Direct thru my computer utilizing my credit card for payment. I received Middle School Advantage 2003. I made contact with AOL Shop Direct and communicated with Maxim. I was told that I would have received the item I ordered and there would be a coupon which would allow me to get the Middle School Advantage for free. When I did receive the item I had ordered there was no coupon for anything free.

I contacted the vendor again and was told I could return the item. I asked if they would pay for the shipping and he said they only paid when an item was incomplete, the wrong item, or the item was damaged. I feel that I should not have to pay anything at all for their mistake. I did not appreciate their misleading me and their lack of customer service.

They charged my credit card $50.59 and want me to pay return postage.
