I wondered if anyone has had a complaint about eating the Nutrisystem items. I started eating them and my face broke out very bad. It seemed strange that it would do that but I let my mom try some and believe it or not, her face also broke out. We are now both on antibiotics.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I signed up for Nutrisystem after hearing about some others' success on the program. Within the first month, I lost only about 4 lbs. which I was totally fine with. After that, my girlfriend decided she would sign up as well so we could do it together. Well, we stayed on it for about 4 months without going off plan and we also worked out on a daily basis. We only lost a small amount of weight but that's not my problem.
After 4 months of this program, it just so happened to be time for our yearly physical. Now before Nutrisystem, I had been in the hospital for chest pains, which turned out to be just a panic attack. But they did a lot of blood work just in case and everything was perfectly normal. All my levels of vitamins and everything else was exactly where it should be.
So, like I said now after being on Nutrisystem, it was my yearly physical time, as well as my girlfriend. We got our blood work done and found out that we both have a vitamin D deficiency, but we both have high blood pressure and she is also extremely low in iron! My blood levels were completely normal before this program and so were hers. And now we are low in vitamins with high blood pressure. This program may help people lose weight but it also helps people become unhealthy. So, you give to get. It's not a healthy program and I would never suggest it to anyone.

I was very interested in joining Nutrisystem. I called and spoke with a representative named Larry. He gave me the information about joining, and due to the cost, I told him that I would like to discuss it with my husband before I made my final commitment. He said no problem and if he may call me tomorrow and follow up. I said yes and gave him my number I could be reached at.
Larry never got back with me! I was so excited about joining, but when he did not return my call, I made my final decision right then. I was not impressed with the customer support! He obviously did not make a good impression for me!

I ordered Nutrisystem end of November 2011. I decided I wanted to either start after the holidays or cancel the order. After talking with a gentleman at Nutrisystem, they allow a one-time delay of auto delivery so I chose to take this opportunity. The gentleman said try the product and if you don't like it, cancel and you can send the rest of the food back. I tried Nutrisystem for 2 weeks and don't like the food. It contains too much sugar and it really is all processed food. I called on Jan. 20th to cancel my order and the lady I spoke with said they will charge me $50 for the difference in auto-delivery price and that I could send back the rest of the food.
I wanted to review their cancellation policy. After reviewing, I called Nutrisystem back on Jan 24, canceled my order and then was told I could not send back my food. I tried to speak to my previous representatives but was not allowed to. The customer services representatives were inconsistent in their messages. If I wouldn't have been able to send back the food, I would have canceled previously. I feel cheated and very dissatisfied with this company.

After receiving my initial order, I was displeased. The frozen entrees were fine but the old Nutrisystem entrees are awful. I called to cancel and was switched to the Cancellation Department. I was on the phone for almost ten minutes and repeatedly told the very rude representative that I was unhappy with the food. He was told to cancel my next order ten different times but would not accept my cancellation.
Finally, he told me I would have to pay $69.00 because it was an automatic order, which I told him I would not do. Not only did he not cancel the order but Nutrisystem tried repeatedly to charge my credit card and called me to the point of harassment. When I finally took one of those calls, I again told the woman, with whom I spoke, that I had cancelled the service and my credit card company was under instructions not to honor any charges. Subsequent emails have stated that they would give me a reduced rate on my next order, and at the same time, they just keep trying to charge. I just received another email stating that my next order is to be shipped on 01/25, but that my credit card has been declined.

I ordered Nutrisystem, but after my order, I saw that it was wrong, so I called in to change my order. The customer service representative said he canceled my order. Yet, the order went through, and my debit card was charged $259.99 and the order was shipped. Also, then after having to cancel the order a second time, another $87.49 charge went through my debit card. I again tried to clear this up with Nutrisystem. Their policy clearly states on their website "at Nutrisystem, we expect you to be fully satisfied, or we'll give you your money back, period". They have refused to refund my money (I sent back their shipment as "refused, return to sender"), and I now had to go into my bank and file a fraud charge on my debits. My letter to Nutrisystem, which they have ignored, says:
I cannot describe my disappointment, frustration and absolute dismay at your company. I am a hardworking, single mother. I do not have internet, at my home as I can't afford it, so I can only access internet at work. Your company's actions have placed me into a financial crisis, based upon your unethical and illegal removal of funds from my bank account, and failure to cancel my order, the first time that I requested it be canceled.
On 1/13/2012, at 12:55 PM, I placed my online order for the Women's Success Plan. My total, paid via my debit master card was $259.99. However, when I reviewed my account, I noticed that all the breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack choices I thought I had chosen (which I spend over 20 minutes making those choices), somehow was not ordered. The favorites package was ordered. At around 1:17 PM (11 minutes and 38 seconds after placing my order), I called ** and spoke to Joseph, a Nutrisystem representative. I explained my situation to him, and asked if there was a way to make the changes, so that I could get the food I wanted, and what I had spent all that time online choosing.
Joseph was extremely rude to me, and told me it was too late. I was very appalled by his demeanor, and absolute lack of professionalism. I said that I didn't want food that I didn't order. Joseph again said he couldn't help me. I was at work and had to answer office phones, so I told Joseph I wanted to cancel my order. Joseph confirmed with me that he canceled my order, and since my order hadn't shipped yet, the $259.99 had merely been placed on hold, so it would take a couple of days for the $259.99 to be released back to my account. I asked Joseph if he could send me an email, or letter, confirming this information, and he told me they don't do that. He can't send me anything. It is cancelled.
On 1/17/2012, Tuesday, when I got to work (Monday, 1/16/2012 was a Holiday and my office was closed), I saw that an email had been sent on 1/16/12, 8:15 AM, that my order had been shipped! I called again and spoke to another representative (I cant recall her name). I was extremely frustrated and upset, because I also saw that $259.99 had been deducted from my checking account for this order. This representative was very professional and kind. However, the damage had been done for me, and I was very upset. She cancelled my order and emailed me a cancellation confirmation. She told me when the FedEx and UPS orders come in, to refuse them, and they would be shipped back.
She told me it would be approximately 2 weeks to process the cancellation, and refund my $259.99 into my checking account, and was very apologetic that I had such poor customer service on 1/13/12, and that the other representative did not do what he was supposed to do by cancelling my order. Although having to wait 2 weeks for my refund of $259.99 was going to be financially difficult for me, as I now have to go grocery shopping for food (I wont have Nutrisystem food to eat), I tightened my belt to try and make ends meet.
On 1/18/12 at my lunch from work, I went shopping for groceries, and my debit card was declined for $92. When I got back to work, I pulled up my bank account information, and saw that Nutrisystem had an additional unauthorized debit being taken from my account, in the amount of $87.49! I have no idea what I am being charged for, and have never authorized any other charges (except the initial $259.99, which will be refunded to me once my order is returned)! I am beyond furious, and appalled at your company.
I now am going to have to leave work early, unpaid, to go to my bank, and see what I can do to stop this from being removed from my account. I cant believe the problems I am having with Nutrisystem. I am beyond disappointed. This has caused me so much distress and financial problems. $259.99 and $87.49 may not seem like a lot of money to some people, but to me it is the difference of putting food on my table each evening, and whether or not my electric bill is paid. I would like a supervisor's response to me, and have this matter handled immediately.

Nope, this isn't a complaint. I just wanted to let people know that this system does work! I've been on NS for over 4 months and have lost 74 pounds. I'm half way to goal.
This program has taught me to eat sensibly and to portion control. I eat 6-7 small meals daily and I'm never hungry. If you go onto the website, they post a list called "Recommended Grocery Foods". This is where the obvious is listed - dairy, veggies and fruits - even fats and extras. This should be a huge indication that you need to add these foods into the program. Duh!
Most of the meat-laden foods, I don't like. But that's my taste buds. I've chosen to flex my meals. That means that I cook my own food. I just use NS's guidelines of how much to eat and what to eat. The NS pre-packaged foods are for people who want/need the convenience, that's all. There is no magic potion in the foods to help you lose weight. I needed that crutch in the beginning of my program. Now, I understand things much clearer and no longer need that assistance, although, I do keep the grab and go stuff handy. You just never know when you need it.
Your first month on NS will be a trial and error time. You will find the foods you love and re-order those. Make sure you are able to customize your order. This will allow you to order the foods you love. But even if you find something you absolutely dislike, there are tips and tricks on how to add veggies, fat free sour cream, etc. into those foods to make them more palatable. Most of the people who are complaining about the food haven't picked up the phone and spoke with a counselor or even gone onto the website and ask questions. If they would have, they would have realized the many variables to this program.
If it wasn't for NS, I probably would be dead from a heart attack. I was well over 300 pounds when I started the program. I'm now off of all blood pressure medicines. Follow this program 100% and you will succeed. And no, I don't work for NS. I'm a very happy client and will be for a lifetime.

The food isn't too bad. However, when you're starving, you'll eat just about anything. It was helpful when I could pick my meals because then I could choose the lesser of the evils. Also, I've had my meals less than 1 year and all of the dinners have gone bad. I wouldn't recommend it or go back on it.

As a birthday present, I asked for gift cards from my sister and husband to Nutrisystem. What a disappointment. Nothing but processed foods, and after just one of their snacks, I broke out some rashes and hives. I called them up, and because I did not want to hassle with shipping the order back, I was charged an additional $50.28 after losing my investment of $238.00.
I called Nutrisystem and was told that unless I shipped everything back, I would incur an additional cost. I could not see myself shipping back nearly 2 pounds of food. Seems like I did not have much of a choice. My reason for not consuming the food was strictly due to an allergic reaction. I should have been fully reimbursed.

Read the terms and conditions carefully! If you sign up for automatic delivery, and then decide after the first shipment the food tastes horrible (which it does) they will charge you $54 to cancel since you promised to accept a second order from them. This is such a scam. These guys are all about the money and not about the person who is trying to lose weight. Stay clear of this program!

I volunteer at a food pantry. We are always getting Nutrisystem food donated to us. It's now getting to the point where we can't even give the stuff away! If you want to lose weight and get healthy, here's what you do. I think you will find this way more convenient than what you've already been through. Go to SparkPeople's site and join. It's always 100% free. There are tons of tools for you to use at your leisure. And SparkPeople will set you up a calorie budget. You can choose convenience foods from your local supermarket like weight watchers or lean cuisine. Personal trainers, coaches, and nutritionists are always ready to answer your questions on message boards. The support is amazing! I have tried Nutrisystem foods and all I can say is gross! To avoid further charges on your credit card by NS, simply call the bank that issued you the card and report it lost. They'll send you a new card with a new number. And when Nutrisystem tries to charge your card a cancellation fee or for more shipments, the charge won't go through and they are out of luck.

When I signed up, I was told that I can make a 100% refund if I am not satisfied. I received my first shipment and some items are missing, and most of the items they've sent were not my choice. I attempted to contact them 3 times, by email and by phone but nothing was ever done. So, I decided to cancel it, and I ended up paying another $53 to get out of the plan, which was never brought up when I placed the order.

In reply to Dave of Chicago, IL. Dave, it's nice to know that Nutrisystem has their own people to counter post here, but you need to get your facts straight. Nutrisystem offers a trial, which if you feel that it's not working in their specified time, you have the option of returning the item to them and then they will not bill you for the item. Well, this is not what happens. What happens is NS either charges your credit card, debit's your debit card and then denies that they ever received the item back. There are 1000's of people that have posted and complained about this. NS uses a third party to handle their claims and they say they'll take care of it, but never do. Now in my humble opinion, this is theft and Nutrisystem is guilty of theft! So go back to your 9-5 and continue to post lies about how good they are and I'll continue to post the reality, that they are thieves and should be prosecuted for theft.

I had been a member for 4 months. Then, when my mother got sick, I canceled the food. Last month, I decided to try again. The food I did try I threw away. So, I decided to return the rest. I did not try most of the food and only received $174 of the $299.99 that I paid. Granted I did have to pay for the one week of frozen I received, but that certainly didn't cost over $100. They are a rip off. Buyer, beware!

On May 05, 2011, we signed up for a ONE MONTH deal with Nutrisystem. We were told by a sales person that they were having a special for any new customers. The "special" was that we would get the one month for half off which came out to be approximately $165.00 with tax included. I had made it clear to the sales person that we were only wanting to try the product for one month and if we liked it, I would call back and purchase a second month with them. So the transaction was confirmed and the delivery came in.
After a month, we received a second box with the same exact products we purchased the month before. I had called Nutrisystem and asked why they sent us a second box when we did not order it. The lady told me that we signed up with an "auto delivery", which means that we would be receiving their shipments every month until we canceled. I made it clear to the lady that we did not sign up with any "auto delivery" and that I just wanted to try out Nutrisystem for a month ONLY. She told me that she would be able to cancel the order but they would charge us a $59.96 cancellation fee along with the fees to ship the product back.
I was not about to pay for a mistake that they made. Like I told the sales person, if I was given this information prior to ordering, I would not have agreed to purchase even one month. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor then got on the phone and I told him what the situation was. He told me that there was nothing he could do and that "they get a million calls like these" in a day. That just means they rip millions of people off a day. When I told him to pull up the recording from the very first sales person that we placed our order with, he kept changing the subject. He then told me that he would speak to his supervisor and see what he can do for me and then give me a call back.
I never received a call back and my aunt got her statement in the mail, and they had charged her $299.00 plus shipping which came out to be $333.20. I had called them repeatedly and spoke to a few supervisors and everyone kept telling me the same thing. Finally, we called the bank and disputed the charge. Our bank then told us to contact consumer affairs and see what they could do. We are still fighting this charge.

I signed up for in February; nowhere during the sign up process was I told that this was an auto shipment that I would have to pay to cancel. Each month, I have to delay my order because they will not cancel it. My husband lost his job and this is a luxury that we cannot (and do not WANT) afford. I called to delay and the "counselor" I was forced to speak with treated me like a child. After being scolded for 5 minutes, I hung up and called back to speak with a supervisor. I was told how sorry they are that my husband lost his job, but I would have to pay to cancel this. I am now forced to call every month to delay the order as I cannot afford to pay the cancellation fee.

I ordered one month of Nutrisystem for my daughter on her birthday. The following month, I called and delayed my order until the following month so I would not receive any for the month of June. It was confirmed by the representative that anything was all set. I came home two days later, and there in the hot sun and a 90-degree weather, sat a box of food -- no ice packs. The box was all wet from the food melting. I called Nutrisystem right away and also found out they deducted $279.00 from my bank account. I explained to the representative, and she said, "We will have someone pick it up in the next five days." I told her that I live in a condo, and the box was full of food, with the drive all sticky. So she said, "Well, if they don't pick it up in five days, throw it away." Well, that night, they poured out and the box fell apart the condo. Assa called me -- and about the mess, they took it and put it in the dumpster. I have called Nutrisystem many of times, and all that they say is they're working on it. I need help. Thank you.

When I joined, I was told via phone that at any time I could cancel with a full refund that will be applied immediately upon receipt of returned food package. When I called to have my autoship cancelled, this was again confirmed and they cancelled the order from within. The UPS driver stopped, but read the package was marked for return and I have the receipt showing it reached Nutrisystem the next day. After many unanswered emails and phone calls where I was actually hung up on, I've now been told that the Nutrisystem policy is to refund within 15 days of a returned item. When that date passed, I again called and was reminded that as of that date, it would be another 10 days before I would get a refund. My return was dated by UPS as 5/10/11.
Today is 5/27/11 and I just received the following email: "Your account has been credited, please be advised that a credit has been issued to you by Nutrisystem for your return of order # ***. This credit will be transmitted to our credit processor at midnight tonight. Please allow 10 to 14 business days for your financial institution to receive the credit information and to post it to your credit card or Bill Me Later account. Credits may not appear on your statement for one to two billing cycles". I still do not have my refund. Companies can always deduct from your account immediately on purchase, but when refunding, they will use any excuse to keep your money as long as possible. I hate when reps on the phone lie. My order was for $297! This is grocery money. Since they had their food and my money, I've had to go to great ends to get by for the last three weeks without my refund. The reps do not seem to care and quote company policy. I will never ever do business with them again.

On four separate occasions, I found objects in my plate of food that I ordered from Nutrisystem. The objects include a piece of thick blue plastic, a brown rubber band, a twig, and a thin piece of blue plastic. On at least three occasions, I actually phoned Nutrisystem to alert them of the problem. And I know they made detailed notes of my complaint. My complaints were not taken seriously; their response was to simply send me a replacement item of food. They continue to tell me that this rarely happens and that they have millions of customers who have not experienced this problem. However, in a span of 1 year, this has happened to me at least 4 times that I can recall.
After the most recent incident, they did ask me for detailed information regarding the object found in my food and serial numbers. Nutrisystem claims that their food is inspected by the US Department of Agriculture. But only about 10 percent of the packaged food items that I receive have an expiration date on the package. In order to find out the expiration date, customers have to call customer service and give them a special code off of the box. I believe that Nutrisystem has been negligent in their food safety standards and that they knowingly send out food that has poor quality. Over the span of 1 year, I have placed about 5 orders with Nutrisystem and I found objects in my food on at least 4 occasions. This has to be happening to someone else and I believe this problem deserves attention.

I called to inquire about the NutriSystem plan and food. After getting my contact information, I received several marketing phone calls and emails. One morning, I received a call that they were offering a plan for half price, for the first time. I was told that I would receive 28 days of food and if I did not like it and canceled within 7 days there would be no cost to me at all. If I did not cancel, I would automatically receive a second shipment at full price. The food arrived, there were mistakes of what I ordered.
The food tasted terrible and tore up my stomach. I called on the fourth day but they would not talk to you on the weekends. I called the following Monday, which was still before my 7 day deadline and canceled my order. The first person said that I would have to pay $18 for their shipping fee and whatever it costs me to ship it back. I asked to speak to a supervisor since the first person gave in the wrong information and my account was showing a $52 charge back fee. She said that she would correct it and that the only amount I would have to pay is what I would pay to ship the remaining 3 weeks worth of food back. It costs me $22.17 to return the food. The 2 days later, my bank account was charged $52. When I called NutriSystem, they said that until they get the food back they will not refund that charge. They also said that they will not refund the full amount because of the $18 shipping fee which they will keep. This company has a very bad food, customer service and fees. They should not be allowed to steal from consumers.

I returned a product after following directions and have yet to receive a refund. The product was returned in November 2010. Not only was I billed for the product, I had to pay for the shipping return. No one was able to help me at customer service. I have my shipping receipt. This company needs to be sued by a group of people for their unethical practices and terrible food.

I would like to give a warning to others about NutriSystem. I signed up for NutriSystem three months ago and found out that their practice is to be bait and switch. First of all, it's not clear that you have to buy fruits and vegetables in addition to their food. Secondly, after canceling my order for the second month, they are charging my credit card $60.00 for the cancellation. Instead of $289.99 for 28 days of food, they are charging me $349.99 for 28 days of food. This practice is purposely confusing and deceptive. I would not recommend this company to any of my friends based on this experience. Pass the word of warning to others who consider them before falling into their trap.

I ordered Nutrisystem for my wife and I and have been dissatisfied since day 1. I tried to cancel, and they want to charge the original discount, and shipping back to me, $80+ for each of us, over $160 to just quit receiving their bad products. This is wrong, I don't care if it's on their website, I don't recall them telling me this.

Ordered, didn't like it the food was awful. I even found a staple in a packet. When I told them about it, they just ignored me. They also don't tell you that you have to buy your fruits and vegetables in addition to their food.
I called for the number to send the rest back and got the runaround for over 6 wks. By then, they kept the food and informed me that I still had to pay for it, even though they had it back because they didn't get it in the time allowed. They were the ones that kept sending me from one person to another. I like to never have got that awful stuff sent back and still had to pay almost $300 for nothing.

I signed up for Nutrisystem two months ago. I figured I would give it a shot but when my first shipment arrived, I knew I had made a mistake. The shelf stable food is disgusting. Most of it is made with mystery meat, overcooked vegetables, and way too much sauce on everything. I could only imagine what kind of chemicals are in the food. My favorite was the chicken salad, on the package it states "artificially lightened". Whats does that mean? They took the worst parts of the chicken and bleached them so they looked like white meat?
The frozen foods were okay but they don't let you customize what you are getting, so they give more of the cheap stuff. The chicken and turkey meals are gross because you can tell that they take the leftovers from the meatpacking plant and mush them together to make pieces of "chicken". I even found a piece of wood in the green beans which I choked on. When I called them to let them know, they gave me a $10 coupon off my next shipment. Are you kidding me? I could have gotten splinters in my throat from that. If you want to lose weight, just start eating healthy fresh food. It is way better than the chemical-laden food.

This is to all the ** who complain about Nutrisystems' return policy. It clearly gives you the option when you sign up to either select a 1 month plan or a multi- month plan (2 months or more). If you sign up for the multi-month plan, you get discounts. If you do not agree to the terms and cancel before 2 months, they charge you the difference between the regular rate and the discounted rate.
So how is Nutrisystem ripping off customers? You guys really need to learn how to read. I was on the program for a year and lost 60 lbs. The program worked well. I never had to call customer service. They have a new menu and the food is great. They have new frozen items now also.
A few people complain that they couldn't eat the food. It's healthy diet food, not the fatty, salty, greasy ** that you're used to eating. Once you transition to a healthy lifestyle, you learn that the food is not bad at all. Why do you think Nutrisystem has been around for 30+ years and has millions of customers? If you're thinking about signing up, check out the website and sign up on their website and browse their forms.

Try before you buy. A tip for those who are considering the Nutrisystem Plan: Go to your local Big Lots Store. They sell Nutrisystem foods. The boxed dinners sell for $3, and the lunch cups sell for $1, period. If you are considering the Nutrisystem membership plan, this is the way to go. Try the meals at a minimal cost to see if you like them. For those of us who have used the plan, this really puts you in control. You can purchase only the meals that you like, avoid shipping costs, etc. And if your state does not charge sales tax on food items, you pay only the price of the item. In other words, this is the most cost effective way to go! If your local Big Lots Store doesn't stock the Nutrisystem meals, ask them if they can get them for you. I have used the plan off and on for the past two years, and have lost over 30 lbs. The plan does work, by the way, if you are willing to follow it! Happy weight loss!

I received a promotional offer from Nutrisystem in the mail for "1 week free," prompting me to check out their website. On the normal website, the price listed for a 4-week program was $239, but I couldn't find a way to enter the promotion code for the free week. Looking closer at the offer, it gave a Web address that took me straight to the promotional offer for "1 week free." The pricing on this separate page was $299.
When I used their online customer service's chat function to try to understand the discrepancy, the representative first agree that the current price was $239, then began to adamantly declare the price was $299. I could even choose my promotion for "1 week free" or their "rollback price" of $239--the current price. Confusing and deceptive--I wouldn't trust a company that tries to pull the wool over their customers' eyes like this on the front end to do the right thing in helping me achieve my weight loss goals. Buyers, beware!

In January of 2011, I signed my husband and I up for Nutrisystem. The ad claimed that we would get a week free and if we chose a certain plan, we would receive a deal. I never realized that you had to order 2 months of the food to receive the deal. I received an email today that my auto-ship would be sent on Feb 7 and if I needed to change anything, that I would need to call prior to Feb 6. I called to cancel both my husband's and mine. I haven't lost any weight and my husband lost 5 pounds but that's it. When I called to cancel they told me that there would be a charge. One charge for the shipping and handling of the this month's order and for the 10% discount on the first month's orders. I had absolutely no idea. They said it was in the terms and conditions and that when I ordered I had to have read it.
Well I never read it and the website does not give any indications of this. The woman said that upon ordering I had to have read the terms and conditions and marked a box. I would have remembered that because I would never obligate myself to something for 2 months that I was not sure of. Just to check things out, I pretended to be someone else and I filled out an order form, without submitting and sure enough there was no box to check terms and conditions. Their website and claims are very misleading and I find it very hard to believe that what they are doing is legal. The average American who is not aware of how this company works can get the wool pulled over their eyes. It happened to me and I am sure it is happening to others.

I am not complaining! I have lost 45 pounds on this diet and it is easy! The food is okay. What do people expect the food to taste like when they are on a diet? Food cooked without a lot of fat isn't going to taste like food that makes you fat! This diet works and the people complaining about it are not serious about weight loss! Without a doubt, I can say that this diet works with very little hassle! How serious are you about losing weight? I feel good about myself after losing 45 pounds. Nutrisystem rocks!

All of the food is absolutely horrible - breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pasta turns to mush when microwaved. The so called desserts taste like cheap vending machine food. Products are loaded with sodium and are extremely high in fat and calories. I was very surprised to learn how unhealthy this food is. The only healthy part of the plan was the veggies and fruit I had to buy to supplement their food.
Between the price of the Nutrisystem food and the cost of the food I had to buy to supplement their food, I spent a small fortune. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this food to anyone - not even those starving in third world countries. I was responsible for paying a "cancellation of auto delivery" fee for the two accounts I activated for an additional cost of $104 on top of the $540 initial outlay.
An expensive lesson; I realize I am responsible for this life lesson. No need for an attorney to contact me. I just want this duly noted for others. A warning, if you will.

I purchased Nutrisystem. I bit into a White Chocolate Chuck Cookie and broke my tooth. My cap came right off, I almost swallowed it.

I returned, after 5 days, the Nutrisystem products. It weighed 22 pounds with 55 products. I got a refund for $6.95 cents. Really?
I called in, and the representative said that I had to have my paperwork detailing each item. Luckily, I found that and called back. The representative said that they will refund me again. Really? Why did I have to go through all of this to make an honest return? Where is the honesty of Nutrisystem?
I feel that this is an unethical scam. If I did not have my paperwork and proof of shipping, then basically, they would have pretended to not have gotten the goods as they did. I wonder how many other people have had this happen to them. Surely, if they got that package at all, which they surely did, they wouldn't have given me the measly $6.95 for it and then they would have the weight on it and known that it was worth more than $6.95.
Stay away people. Nutrisystem's large call center and warehouse pretend to be disorganized, yet they had no problem when they first shipped and billed me $275.

I signed in to Nutrisystem to get info for a friend, but he didn't care for the program. Now because I signed in using my email, I am being hounded by them with emails for the past 3 months. I have hit the "unsubscribed" button on each email but that doesn't do anything. I went to their site and emailed them. I now have been emailed back 4 times that they have removed me, but this is a lie. We need a "do not email" system like the "do not call" system for these harassing emails. If they can't do a simple thing like this, I can't imagine how they can do anything else of value.

I wrote the review dated August 5th, 2010. I was pleased to receive a phone call a few weeks ago from a company representative that had read my complaint on this website. He apologized for my experience trying to cancel, and said that he was refunding the 54 dollar fee. I just looked today and the credit posted to my bank account. I appreciate that someone took the time to read my complaint and resolve the issue.

I tried this system. You need to buy their food, plus lots of other food as well. I couldn't eat the food because it has too much sugar, as I have type two diabetes. I can't eat the diabetic plan because it contains aspertane, which gives me migraines. This was not explained to me before I started, they just wanted to get me to buy into their program. I had to receive the two shipments, then they would not give me a full refund for the second shipment. This whole program is nothing but a scam.
My bank account went in the red. It took them over a week to credit my account, when it only took them one day to take the money out! They shorted me $59.95, even when I explained to them that it was a medical reason, and then I had 3 overdrafts of $37.50 each because of the shortage!

Nutrisystem gave me Pantry Moths! These moths are nearly impossible to get rid of! I ordered the basic menu from Nutrisystem online. It arrived in a single large box. I put all of the food in one small pantry with a solid wooden door. Shortly thereafter, I found small flying moths. I didn't know what they were but I knew they had come with the Nutrisystem food. I removed everything, cleaned everything off, cleaned the pantry and put the food back. I have the same complaints as other people about the food, it all tastes the same and is awful. When the small moths continued, I threw out the remainder of the food, cleaned the pantry and replaced it with grocery store food. Then I noticed the white worms on my ceiling! I looked them up on the internet, Pantry Moths! I have thrown out all of the grocery store food that they infected! When their representative called to check up on my progress, I complained to no avail! Don't buy this product.

I have previously been on Nutrisystem without problems, even though the food is not great. I ordered it again and the Nutrisystem advanced plan was sent now. I started and stomach pain started. I thought maybe my system was just getting use to the change/diet. The pain persisted and then I decided to go off the plan to see if that could be the problem. I went off for 2 days without stomach problems and then back on the plan. The first day I went back on the plan, I had such a pain in my stomach. I thought I would have to go to the hospital.
Once the food finally purged out of me I was able to function. Please do not try it as it isn't worth it. By the way it took three weeks and I had only lost three pounds and I had been very active/walking/working. Of course I have lost about $500.00 as they sent the auto delivery before I figured out what the problem was.

After reading your site, I decided to write also. I had the worst experience with Nutrisystem also. I joined with QVC to get Nutrisystem. The food was horrible! The worst. I called them to tell them that I had diabetes, that I could not eat all these sweets they were sending, and that I was allergic to soy. They kept sending me all kinds of soy nuts and soy products. I called constantly and no response back and or there was nothing they could do. I had so many foods I couldn't eat and I wanted to send them back. They finally said they would issue a credit when I returned it. I did but never had a refund to this date and a few years have passed. The customer service was terrible. No one cared about my health or what food I was getting. They kept sending it all the time. I was hungry because I couldn't eat what they sent most of the times. One person is right, food was spicy and salty, each one that was sent.
After I stopped it, they did charge me too and gave me a hard time. They lie and the food is not fresh. On TV, I think they get food from a restaurant because it does not look like TV at all! Months later after I wrote 5 letters, I finally had a call from the main office. I called back for two weeks everyday and this person never returned my call. I guess he called once and said we want to make up to you, what happened and please contact me. How convenient, he never returned any of my calls! One customer service representative told me that I could not get other choices even though I had diabetes. It's what it is. I was so misinformed and so is everyone else in this world.
Try small portions, fix them, and freeze them yourself with your good food choices. It is so much easier to do and cost so much more. Everyone is paying less than $300.00 a month. Make the portions yourself and freeze! I have no use for this company. They should start getting fined and people should get a group lawsuit against them for horrible food. This food was not fresh! I think I am going to start a good company, charge half the price, and cook fantastic meals for people! Home cooked meals, not cardboard crap!

My 83-year-old mother signed up for Nutrisystem. She told me the food was horrible and was mainly pasta and soups. She cancelled immediately and had no problem doing so. As bad as the food was, her main complaint was that it came with no directions about how to incorporate the bars into the food plan. She told me the representative she spoke to told her to go online and look it up.
I came to visit her two weeks later and figured I'd eat the food while I was in town. Yes, what I ate tasted pretty terrible, but my main complaint is that all the cereals and many of the bars were not sealed in their packaging well and were stale. Had it been one package, I'd have overlooked it. But I've tried half a dozen breakfasts and four or five nutrition bars. Only one was fresh.

Marie ****** should be ashamed to be spokesperson for Nutrisystem. The only decent foods you eat on this program are the vegetables and fruits that you must buy yourself. Not only are the Nutrisystem food items appallingly inadequate, they are over the top in sodium and generally taste horrible. Oh yes, try to cancel! It isn't easy nor inexpensive.

I have been on this system for 6 weeks now. I have lost over 15 pounds. The food is tasty, albeit small portion, granted not all the food is good. I was able to choose the better food for my second order and I am very happy. I agree that the tuna and hamburger, as well as the hot dog, is bad. And the black bean soup didn't cook up well. I don't feel that the product is too salty. Results are worth it. True - convenience is primary in this diet. However, I don't see it that different from Weight Watchers (spent 4 years on that program). It does teach you how little food is needed. And our portion sizes are too big in America. Frankly, it hasn't been any more costly than if I went to the grocery store. And the food I buy my family is lasting a lot longer - now that I am not eating it!

Actually, I did lose 30 pounds on the program. It took two months as I lost close to 5 lbs. per week. The food was not that great and I experienced a great deal of gas. Too much stuff with beans. Also, they charged my credit card with a second month so I had no choice but to take it again. As I said, I did lose weight but the food was not so good. I just tolerated it because I really wanted to lose the weight.

I find this to be abusive, excessive, and a penalty they decide to impose for cancelling their disgusting product. The food is mainly pasta and rice and
minute amounts of meat. I consider their ads misleading and detrimental to the general public. This is not a good company. Pass the word of warning to others who are considering falling into their trap.

After ordering the Nutra System Diet, I was very surprised to see that the food was not fresh form the kitchen as advertised. The food was pre-packaged and obviously been sitting in a warehouse for months. Nevertheless, I contacted Nutra System to find out information on how to return my order; they informed me that I would be refunded with my money but will be charged the shipping fee of $18.95 that was originally free. When I inquired why I would be charged, they claimed that because the food is being returned, I would be responsible for the fee. I never agreed to those terms, and furthermore it was not explained to me that I would be charged a shipping fee.
After two weeks of being ignored and pushed around by customer service, they explained that the fee will not be waived and I am responsible. They advised me to ship the remainder of food to them for a refund less the shipping fee, but suggested that I use FedEx or UPS. I went to FedEx and was charged $45.00 to ship the item back. I was very displeased as what they advertised is very misleading. It should also be explained in detail to consumers exactly what the terms and conditions are. I have lost almost $70.00 on food I cannot eat, just because I want to maintain a healthier lifestyle. It is not fair for this company to profit and mislead consumers when they knowingly distribute food that is not healthy for consumption.
I have lost $70.00 due the fact that the terms and conditions of their return policy was vaguely explained to me.

Unlike many of the complaints on here, I do not have a problem with the food. I do not like to cook, so NutriSystem was perfect for me, and the food was decent. I lost 16 pounds in a month, and the few times I went to a restaurant, I found that I was eating much smaller portions.
My problem was that toward the end of the first month, my husband received unexpected military orders overseas, and I was of course moving with him. We have two months to pack, sell our house, find a new house, and move half way around the world. Although I liked NutriSystem, the last thing I want is to have more things to pack. I called to cancel, and was told that there would be a $54 fee charged to my credit card. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who explained that it was the charge for free shipping ($33), plus the 10% discount that I was originally given on my first month of food.
He told me that they offer a one-month non-recurring plan, and that I should have chosen that option when I initially signed up with the company. I explained my situation, and I mentioned that I liked NutriSystem and would probably order food again after I got settled in my new home. He still said that there was nothing he could do about the $54 charge, and that I could dispute it with my credit card company if I chose to.
I feel that this is a horrible slap in the face from a customer service standpoint. I don't want to move my family out of the country, and would like nothing more than to stay in my home and continue losing weight on NutriSystem. For him to say that I should have chosen the one-month plan was an insult. How could I have known that the military would be sending us overseas? Now I have no choice but to pay this money. I will never use NutriSystem again and cannot recommend them to anyone else.

I have used Nutrisystem twice. I find the food tastes like cardboard. I actually got some food that had live worms crawling around in it. Eat real food and you'll lose weight just as fast or faster. They made no refund for the wormy food.

I ordered Nutrisystem on their, supposed, 4-week free plan, which just means that they, supposedly, give you one week free for four months. I paid $240.00 for my first month. I didn't start the diet right away, because I had a lot going on at the time and decided to wait until I returned from my vacation. I started the diet seven days ago and have not been thrilled with the amount of carbs that the meals have (I am diabetic and ordered of the diabetic menu, but decided I could work around it with the food that I have to provide on my own to go along with the food they sent me. Actually, I was kind of surprised how good most of their meals were, but, as I said, they were high in carbs.
The other evening, when I got home from work at 1:00 a.m. (I work swing shift), I opened up the Nutrisystem snack that I still had left to eat (Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies) and was surprised to see that the package was full of mostly crumbs. I thought that maybe they fell apart in shipping and started to eat the cookies. As I was holding one of the mini-cookies and reading, I noticed something crawling on my fingers - the bag and cookies were full of very small sugar ants. Needless to say, I about threw-up and upon further inspection, saw a multitude of ants crawling through out what was left of these cookies.
I totally lost my appetite, as would anyone, and because it was so late, there was really nothing I could do about it that night. I inspected the outside of the package and I didn't really see any holes or tears, except for the place where I had torn open the package. The next day, I called their customer service person, who I could hardly understand because of his heavy accent and he really didn't seem surprised or even concerned. He said that they would be happy to send me another package of cookies and to open up all the rest of the snacks to see if there were ants in any other packages and they would also replace those.
I told him that I didn't have any intention of eating any more of their food, as once you have found ants in a package of food, you don't exactly feel safe about eating any more of that particular product. He told me that he would alert their quality control people and that he would "personally" make sure I didn't receive any other packages with ants in them. I asked him how he could possibly inspect all the food that was sent to me and he didn't have an answer. I asked him if they had ever received complaints of ants in the food and he said that there has been some "problems" with complaints about ants in the food, but that I didn't need to worry about receiving anymore food with ants in it. I told him that his answers to the problem were unacceptable and he asked me what I wanted Nutrisystem to do.
First I told him that I wanted my next order, scheduled to be shipped out on the 20th of July to be canceled. Also, I told him that I wanted to send back the food that I had not eaten (three weeks worth)and be credited for that food. He informed me that if I canceled my next order, that I would be charged additional money because I received a deal on my orders with the understanding that I would have to get four months of food in order to receive the money off. I asked him what happened to my four weeks of free food and he told me you only get one week free a month and have to order four months of food. I was also told that they would not credit me for any food that I still had left because it was not sent back in their 10-day trial period.
I was dumbfounded, as you would think the company would be willing to cancel your remaining orders under the circumstances and credit you for the food that hasn't been touched. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for about ten minutes. The same man came back on the phone and told me that no supervisors were available, but assured me that a supervisor would call me the next day at 08:00 a.m. MST. I told him that, under the circumstances, I was astonished that a supervisor was not willing to get on the phone with me. I told him that I called the company first because I wanted to do the right thing and give them a chance to handle a very bad situation with their food. I told him that I was willing to try and work out something with a supervisor, but if I didn't hear from someone that I would take other action.
Today, as of 10:45 P.M., I have yet to hear from anyone at Nutrisystem. I have kept the bag of cookies sealed in a zip lock storage back and just thinking about eating, or even opening up anymore of their food makes me sick to my stomach. Do I have any recourse as a consumer? Should the company be allowed to keep shipping consumers food when they are aware of a problem they have with ants in the food? To me, this is on the scale of selling food that has been tainted with salmonella (sorry, not sure of the spelling). Yet, I was told over and over again, by the customer service person that sometimes it happens - no big deal! I told him that in all of the years (I am 53 years old) that I have shopped for food at grocery stores, on-line, etc., I have never opened a package of food and found ants crawling through the food.
Physically, I don't think that my health will be damaged by eating a few ants. Emotionally, the experience was very traumatic and unnerving. I was horrified by the sight and the knowledge that I had already eaten two of the cookies. Just the thought of what happened makes me nauseated. I find myself now examining every piece of food I put in my mouth. Also, the phone call I made to the company and their lack of response or concern was very disturbing and frustrating. Economically, I am out the money I spent on food that I wouldn't even consider eating or even opening, and whatever they are going to charge for canceling any other food shipments.

I order a "personalized" order through QVC#40245767 but shipped from Nutrisystem. A large number of the items I ordered were substituted with items not at all satisfactory to me. I paid extra for the privilege of ordering exactly the items I wanted. It would cost a lot to return such a heavy package. I paid for "personalized". What a rook! I have to lug a heavy package to P.O. and pay $13.47 in postage plus contact credit card company. They send whatever they want to. They need to discontinue this deceptive practice.

I had severe adverse stomach reflux reaction from Nutri-System foods. I ended up in hospital for overnight stay because I thought I was having a heart attack. I never had severe discomfort before. I go to local distributor, but food comes from headquarters address above.

I ordered the combination packaged and frozen auto order plan. My first "frozen" order arrived so unfrozen, the ice cream was sloshing in the containers. I burned up 15 Verizon minutes on hold and another 10 getting a replacement order. I should have just stopped it right then. This food is either barely tolerable or virtually inedible. It's loaded with carbohydrates and sodium, but tasteless, plan on eating a lot of pasta. These are small portions loaded with calories, carbohydrates and fats. I found myself taking a few bites and throwing the rest away.
If you want easy, plus calorie, portion and taste control, you can build a much better tasting program on your own by visiting the diet food sections of the supermarket! I was doing better on my own. The desserts are no bargain, just tiny, tasteless portions of junk food. I would not recommend this to anyone. It's very expensive, $400+ for one-month supply of inedible food. I'm sending the rest with my husband on his camping trip this week. Perfect. He has no taste buds, he'll eat anything. Just a $400+ hit to my bank account.

Greetings, I am writing this on behalf of my mother who is an elderly illiterate person. She ordered the NutriSystem program from a commercial with the understanding that the 1st 4 weeks are free. My mother ordered this because she is desperate to lose some weight so that she can be put back on a lung transplant list. She lives a very reclusive life due to her fragile medical condition. When she got the food, she could not read the directions that explained how to prepare it and was unable to prepare most of it because her mobility is extremely limited. My brother cares for her at her home but was unwilling to prepare the food for my mom. He claimed the instructions were confusing to read and understand.
My mother contacted NutriSystem and canceled the program and returned the second supply unopened. She is being billed for the one month supply. She insists according to the commercial by Marie **** , the first 4 weeks or 1 month is free. I listened to the commercial and it does say this. She is now being billed $300 + interest and late fees that she cannot pay. She lives on a very limited income. She can barely afford groceries. I know she should have been more careful but it is in her desperation to get well and get a lung transplant that has contributed to this.
I have contacted Nutrisystem and they were not helpful. My mother is a good soul never intended to cheat this company. Please tell me how to help my mother reason with this company and convince them to honor the 4 weeks free they claim. If the first month of food is not the 4 weeks free then what is? My mother gave away the food to a neighbor because she could not prepare it for herself. I appreciate any advice and assistance.

On 5/12/2010 I ordered Nutrisystem D. I received the order on 5/18/2010 and started the diet. My sugar was kind of high when I started (200's) and I thought (from the advertisements) that it would help me control diabetes. Instead, it ran it up to well over 300's or more. I spoke to my doctor and he suggested that I discontinue the Nutrisystem. Since then, I have had to call my doctor to increase my insulin from 30 to 40 units in the morning and 15 to 25 in the evening. It is still not under control, but it is down to 150 and below. I feel that Nutrisystem D is unsafe and should be taken off the market.
I feel that the food I was sent was not the right stuff because the calories were high; all the ingredients were too high for someone with diabetes. I tried to return the product (7/01/2010), but was told I had waited too long to return it for a refund (I was told 60 days to return it but was told later that it was only 30 days) and that I should give it away or sell it to someone. I paid $299.99 for this and don't feel I should lose my money. I am on disability and don't have a lot to spare.

The food is gross...tastes awful. I believed their commercials about 'delicious' food. It is disgusting and I already threw some of it away. I've only been on the diet 2 days and am already sick of it. Better to buy Lean Cuisine, etc.

Nutrisystem Advanced food tastes disgusting, is REALLY high in sodium, and set my IBS and GERD off like you wouldn't believe. I tried it for one week, took a break for a week, and tried it again for one day. Same results. It simply contains to much added fiber. There needs to be better disclaimers about the impact it can have.

I am aggravated that they do not disclose all costs associated. I think the shipping to the other areas should be the difference between the contingent states and the non-contingent or don't allow free shipping as a lure in. I believe my personal email and mail is now on a list that will be sold.

The food is disqusting. Like all the other complaints you don't get what you order. I have acid reflux so I couldn't eat all that tomato crap. When I would eat a meal my puppy would jump on my lap because he thought it was his dog food because that is what it smelled like. When I called Nutri System they did nothing. I had tried Jenny Craig and found it quite good. I went with Nutri System because it was cheaper. Big Mistake! I have this big box of food that I can't throw away because I don't waste and can't eat it because it so awful. The snaks and desserts are even worse. Thank You

I order the food. It was giving me extreme headaches and stomach issues (Major) I called to see if I could return the food and went through the whole process of what I needed to do. This has been going on for 3 months. I have called and left messages and so on and I am told "i can't help you" the postal service delivered it to the wrong building! GO FIGURE! I normally don't raise my voice, etc. I try and keep my "Christian" attitude. I lost it with them. I could not understand the people answering the calls. etc. DON'T ORDER Food FRom them! My bloospressure went out the roof and I did not loose one pound! They are scammers!

I used the products for one day, my stomach is bloated, upset, and I feel like someone sprayed foam insulation in my intestines. This program was a starter program for $148.00 from Walmart. I was told I do not get to pick my own food unless I do the Auto Pay every month. I'm not doing the program anymore.

I purchased Nutrisystem in January of 2009 for myself and my mother but did not start the program until the end of March. By July, I had lost 20 pounds, then suddenly in August, I began have severe abdominal pain and noted my blood pressure was elevated and went off the program. Being in the military, I was healthy. In November 2009, I had to have my gall bladder removed and a mass was found in my kidney. After healing from the surgery, I started to eat Nutrisystem again, to use up what I had already purchased and within a week, I was back in the hospital with abdominal pain, passing kidney stones and had a blood pressure of 145/100.

All I can say is do your research before ordering Nutrisystem to make sure it's right for you. You wouldn't sign a contract without reading the fine print, so why would you just jump into something that could affect your health if you didn't research it beforehand?
I ordered NS a little over a week ago and already lost 7 lbs without exercise. The food is not terrible tasting, but I knew not to expect tastes-like-homemade gourmet food that comes conveniently pre-packaged and sometimes freeze-dried, its just common sense. I was also aware of the food that needed to be added such as the fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy, and protein by doing a Nutrisystem Google search to read reviews followed by viewing some YouTube videos.
As far as the level of sodium is concerned, that's where they're unfairly misleading. But NS is right, their products contain the recommended amount of sodium for adults but only their products alone. They have no control, or care, over how much sodium is in the salad dressing that you use, the olives you eat, or the type of protein you choose to consume. The NS entrees I ate in 1 day equaled 1550 mgs of sodium, slightly above the minimum recommendation of, I believe, 1500.
After adding the rest of the foods, it went up to nearly 3000 mgs, 600 more than the maximum of 2400 for the average adult. I've started to cut back on sodium in the other food to keep within the normal range. Overall, I recommend this product for mea young, relatively healthy 27-year-old, whose blood pressure is normal, non-diabetic, no pre-existing health conditions, all my born with parts are still in the proper place, works full time, lives on her own, is single with no children and no time to stay home and cook healthy meals.
I cant speak on the behalf of everyone else, but NS is working for me and helping me to make better food choices. My only warning is to watch the sodium and if you start to feel a little off, speak with your doctor and discontinue use of the product.

I started using Nutrisystem in February 2008 as a way to lose a few pounds before a race that I was getting ready for. I started noticing two weeks after being on Nutrisystem that I was getting a sore throat and thought I was getting a cold. I then started coughing a lot. I went to the doctor to see about getting some antibiotics. The doctor put me on Amoxicillin. I stayed on Nutrisystem for another two weeks but kept getting worse. I started losing my voice and my throat felt like acid was being poured on it. One night I woke up from a sound sleep and was choking to death. My throat closed. I was able to stop the choking and breathe again but went back to the doctor.
They scoped my throat and said I had two lesions on the sides of my throat. They put me on Protonix to stop the acid from coming up and steroids to decrease the throat inflammation. I kept choking at night at the time it was on a nightly basis. I was hospitalized for one night to be observed. After they released me they sent me to a throat specialist in Seattle (I live in Juneau, Alaska) so I had to get a plane to see this specialist. After several visits to Seattle they determine that my stomach valve wasn't working and I needed esophageal surgery, laparoscopic nissen fundoplication. All of these stemmed from the product Nutrisystem. It weakened my stomach valve so that it would never work right again.
Whatever they put in their food (preservatives or whatever) ruined my valve and caused over a year and half of distress on my life, not to mention a surgery which has now altered the way I eat for the rest of my life. There should be a warning on Nutrisystem that it causes undue stress on the digestive systems and can lead to a very serious condition called laryngospasms and ulcers of the throat which have in turn damaged my vocal folds and I now have speech problems. Over a year and half of pain, suffering, near-death choking resulting in esophagus surgery and economic loss in the tens of thousands of dollars. Several flights to Seattle to see specialists, vocal therapy, gastroenterologist, Otolaryngology and diet restrictions. My life will never be the same because of Nutrisystem. I have several friends who have all tried the "new formula" of Nutrisystem and they all started getting similar digestive complaints while using their product and I have told them to get off it ASAP. Nutrisystem needs to be told that their product has something seriously wrong with it.

I tried the Nutrisystem off the QVC website and when it came in, I only ate one meal that was absolutely loaded with sodium and other things not advertised on the TV programs! I had some snacks, not much. My stomach for such a small amount of food blew up like I was 3 months pregnant or something. My heart was palpitating and my body sweating, I got a headache for days, bloating, gas and my gallbladder or something inside me felt like it was hurting bad. I fell asleep a lot to try to make it go away and take tons of extra strength Tylenols.
I am normally really healthy and could not believe that this company is able to sell this legal at all! Money is the root of all evil and this company is purely evil! Do not fall prey to their false claims, misleading messages and their celebrities are obviously overpaid to represent them! It's been now 4 days and I'm trying to feel better to go back to work and eat normally.
At this point, McDonald's is even healthier! We are going to try to send it back. I read how hard that process is. So we're out a lot of money for nothing! Buyers beware, caveat empor! And please, make this company go bankrupt again like it was before. You don't go bankrupt for anything. There's apparently something very wrong! This is the same company that sold fen-pen which seriously killed some people and made others real ill! Think twice. And if you're in a position to help build a class action lawsuit , like a lawyer or anyone with a moral and ethical conscience reading this, please contact me because I would like to be a part of that . This company should be stopped!

Nutrisystem has awesome food, plus I lost 40 pounds while on the 28-day program!

They charge $300 for food but they don't tell you youhave to spend more money on more food to go with the diet. They guaranty the return but you have to pay for it. All they are is a big rip-off.

Nutrisystems added unauthorized automatic charges to my credit card after I cancelled their services. I called and was essentially told "So what? Go ahead and contact the BBB!". I found out a week later why they were so flippant. BBB contacted me and said that Nutrisystems refuses all emails and snail mail from BBB, therefore, complaint case closed. Nice way of doing business, huh? Crooks! In addition, their "Help website" never worked.
In my opinion, their food is horrible. Very salty and more unpalatable than cheap TV dinners. I spent 20 years as a wildland fire fighter and ate C-rations everyday on the fire line. Nutrisystem foods made C-rats seem like gourmet food! I even offered a Nutrisystem "meat entree" to my dog and he refused to eat it! Smart dog! This is a scam promoted by hype and pure and simple trickery! A company that refuses to discuss consumer concerns/complaints. Very ugly bunch! Beware! Loss of money via unauthorized automatic charges ($52) to my credit card.

Company money hungry. Placed debit on my card for $299.95 in error. Admitted I didn't have an order with them but would not refund money. Made me dispute amount with my bank. Guess they can earn interest on my money as long as they have it in their coffers.

I got my shipment on February 1, 2010. Right from the beginning, I noticed that there was a lot of salt in the food, something that I try to avoid. I called a rep (Kevin) and he said it was the normal amount for an adult and my body would adjust. I felt like I was retaining fluid. Then the gas, bloating, and stomach pain started after a few days.
I called to cancel, but was met with criticism by a rep saying that I had agreed to auto shipments and now, I would have to pay $52.99 more because I was cancelling. So I cancelled. The food is not good. The advertising was misleading. Check out the pictures of their food, it shows double the amount. So you think that you are getting a good portion here. So the program and lack of customer service was very discouraging to me. I am out $299.00, plus it was not helpful in my pursuit for weight loss. I felt bloated, gassy, and uncomfortable.

Well, in 1986 I had delivered twins and thereafter had to fit into my business suits and went on Nutrisystem (then, mostly all powder you mixed with water). I lost 50 pounds, exactly what I'd set out to do. A few weeks afterwards, I called 911 as I thought I was having a heart attack or so I presumed. The pain was awful though it was difficult to tell where it was coming from, Hence, I thought it to be a heart attack. It was, in actuality, my gallbladder and I had to have surgery for this thereafter. The surgeon and I discussed at length everything diet wise and it was presumed my couple months of Nutrisystem and freeze dried and/or powder type foods/living. I never did a thing with this and back in those days, there were reports of others also encountering gallbladder problems.
In comes today, some 24 years later. I was just plain wanting to lose weight (call it owning one's own business in today's economy). Anyway again, I decided, well, it worked once, have at it and make it work again. I had read the food had indeed changed, figuring as well that I'd already lost my gallbladder it's got to be better. So I joined through my Costco for a savings. The food has actually well improved and is much easier to prepare, simply micro and that's that about that vs mixing with water, freeze dried consistency and then micro. The food tastes better, much better! My husband and I both went on it (both in our biz together if you will). We have both lost about 15+ pounds in the past 4 weeks but have encountered some health related issues which we've not a doubt are very much related to the diet food. We've looked for anything on the web and, to no avail, actually observing our specific concerns but thought it best to produce the same in writing to you.
My husband, had previously been prone to boils / cysts usually when he would drink beer or eat tomatoes, acidity type, so he doesn't eat/drink those type ofitems due to that problem. Since being on the diet over the course of the past ''almost'' 4 weeks, he's been consistently getting boils, large boils all over his body. We both believe without a doubt, it is due to perhaps the sodium/soy or what have you w/in the diet food as we've not eaten anything else since joining. He will no longer eat the food effective a day ago!
I, Miss Lost her gallbladder in 1986 after losing 50 pounds on nutrisystem and then back on it 24 years later, am really encountering issues health wise as well. So much so I've asked my husband to watch me and that perhaps if things got worse to call 911, which we've not done as yet, but truthfully I have been feeling so badly I've stated just that!
Severe heart palpitations, my breathing is considerably difficult, a very bad tightening of the chest and truthfully it feels like I'm having heart issues. No, to this point and all previous physicals I've been more than A okay, thank goodness, in this regards. The tightness in my chest almost nightly and, of late, (this week) I have noticed considerable swelling in my hands of all things. I've been so frightened I have a few nights been afraid to actually lay down on my pillow but eventually have.
Be that as it may, I (we) are conducting our own experiment and that is this week remaining stated we were going completely off Nutrisystem, or so we said. Yesterday both of us were off completely, eating normally and sensibly. Last night I had no heart palpitations, no tightness of breath/chest, no hand inflamation. Today, I decided I was smarter than that and alone ate the breakfast / and lunches of Nutrisystem. I have tremendous heart burn this afternoon (as I always get after eating the food) and my heart is going a mile a minute! I am confirmed this is no doubt being caused by a reaction, of sorts, to the food. I realize high sodium, I equally realize high soy, higher carbs within the food.
I am more than curious if this has indeed previously been reported by anyone out there and/or I could learn anything additionally related to similarities of reported issues.

Bought the card through Costco and ordered the food on the web. Over a month later, I never received the food. They keep saying it's been mailed out but can't supply me with a tracking number. Costco said, I have to bring the shipment to them in order to get a refund. I've called Nutrisystem many times and keep getting the same answer from them "We have shipped it to your PO Box." I got scammed out of $285. Now I know who is paying for the celebrities' advertisements.

First off, I ordered online and did not want auto delivery and they did it anyways and I sent emails stating I didn't want to and they never got back to me. So then, I called and they said it was a $41 cancellation fee, That's not mentioned online in any convenient place or in their misleading commercials. Then I was told that it was in lieu of the shipping but in the commercial, lovely Marie Osmond says free shipping but that's it. It'ss a switch and bait game and the food sucks, salt-heavy and most of it I wouldn't feed my dog.
Also you can exchange the regular but not the fresh frozen and fresh frozen is misleading. It's overpriced frozen meals, nothing fresh about them. This company throws a ton of money at celebs to promote and they are crooks misleading the public. I have lost respect for those celebs also and anyone who promotes such horrible misleading business practices. I lost over $300 which, if I was not misled, I could have used to actually help lose weight without sacrificing taste.

Nutrisystem claims that I received a package of their food & I did not. Now Bill me Later wants me to pay for it. UPS says through the tracking number it was delivered. I filed a dispute with Bill me Later & they want the amount Nutrisystem is charging for the package that I never got. The UPS could have delivered it to the wrong address in Miles Branch. Mail has been delivered to Lonna court other times by mistake. I will not pay for something I did not get. What do I do? Bill me later wants the money. I have been calling all parties since October & no one helps me. My husband lives here & and he can vouch for me that we did not get this package. Thank you for your help. How much ** can a person take? This has been going on since October.

I ordered one month for my daughter after she received order. On December 28, I called to cancel any future shipments. The individual was nice and told me to call back closer to the shipping date so I would not be charged the free shipping and tax. So I called back today, January 15, and it didn't matter; I will be charged the shipping and tax. This should be in big print when ordering that you must order two months for any perks! I will be charged more money after already paying $299.95 too much.

After two days on the program, I suffered the worst stomach pains I have ever had in my life. The food on the program was a major disappointment. Never again for me!

My physician advised me not to eat any more of the food due to it exacerbating my GERD. I tried to return the food and get a partial refund to no avail. I thought for sure that they would work with me since it was due to a medical condition. They would not. I am out of the money and have food that I can not eat.

Husband been on Nutri System, lost 6 pounds. Now doctor says he has high blood pressure. I'm concerned about the amount of sodium in their products. Looks like he's intaking about 3500 m of sodium. Way too much

How disappointing, frustrating, aggravating it is to deal with NS! I ordered in Canada believing they were also based in Canada - which they're not. They did use a shipping address on Belgrave Road, Mississauga but that is no longer in use (according to NS Cust. Service) My biggest issue is substition of products. I'm fairly picky, with some food allergies so when I order I order the food that meets my req'ts. The 2nd order they subsituted 16 lunch items (8 were noted as subs Cheese Tortellini while the other 8 were just wrongly picked - Chicken Salad, and were foods I didn't order, & have never ever ordered. You'd think when they do subs that they'd pick something you've ordered before.
Well a call to NS (one of many I'm sorry to say) (which gets routed to the US) and apologies and we'll send it out, well, that took 21 days to process and ship, problems at Customs with insufficient info on the form, bounced around for a week...when it arrived they sent 16 of the same wrong product - ugg Chicken Salad! To make matters worse, I'm going on vacation and told them I needed the products now, not in 2 weeks or 3 weeks....then guess what my auto ship was coming up, I could just see a huge problem manifesting with another order of wrong food, still trying to get the previous order sorted and away on vacation....This is not the same company that I used in the '80's. I would never sign up for something because of the celebrity endorsement - it's just money to them, I signed up because of the success and long term success I had experienced previously with Nutrisystem. I would never have signed up if I knew it was not a Canadian operation.

I canceled my order on the 12th according to the instructions. I had until the 16th to make any changes or to cancel. I was told it would be canceled and I would not be charged. I was given a cancelation number after requesting one. On the 15th the monthly amount of $299.00 was taken out of my account. I called and was told they emailed their warehouse and tried to stop the order on the 12th but it was already "in process" and was shipped out on the 13th. (I would like to know how it would have been possible to make any changes up until the 16th?)
I was told by Nigel at Nutri System I have to wait because UPS's policy will not allow them to recall the shipment. I was told to refuse the order and when Nutri System recieves it back they will refund the money. What a terrible way to do business! I tried their product and and lived up to my part of the agreement purchased the 2 months I agreed to sending them $600.00. I have a cupboard full of nasty tasting food that I will never eat and they have charged me for a shipment that was sent after my cancleation. My advice is hopefully you are smarter than me since youare reading this "before" you get messed up with giving this company access to your bank account and realize what a hassle it will be to stop shipments.

I ordered nutrisystem and tried them out for 1 month. Not happy with the cost of food and the program in general. Called to cancel my order before my next shipment shipped. When tried to cancel, I was told I would have to pay a $55.00 penalty for a 10% discount and the free shipping I had received. When asked them to not charge me this fee because I did not know about this charge for canceling, I was sent to the billing department.
I asked her to waive this "penalty" because I had tried their product and did not like it or the progress I had made. I was looking at my original receipt and it said nothing about a cancellation penalty. I asked her to show me where this was stated. After she guided me through 5 or 6 links on the nutrisystem site, I told her never mind. Was I expected to read every page on their site to find this information. She would not budge and I was charged the $55 to get out of their program.

The second time, my wife instrcted Nutrisystem to hold any orders until after Dec.
At the begining of september Nutrisystem once again stuck us with a bill of $320 and threw us into the hole causing a multitude of check return fees. I was so furious I closed the account perminently. They refused to return my money until the package was returned. They refused to pay for the overdraftfees, or even the shipping to return the package. They don't even put a complete address on the box so you can return the package through the mail. Even the post office clerk could not make out the address.
Of course, if they don't get the package no refund, so I was glad I called first. It's a shame because we liked the product, but can't afford to continually get stuck with their fees or unethical behavior. $370 return check fees. $35 shipping fees. Ruined vacation. $321 taken without authorization from my account. 30+ minutes of waisted time sitting on hold

I received my month of food. The food tasted terrible, was very expensive and I didn't lose any weight. I canceled after the first month and was charged $52.28 more because I didn't continue.

Today I cancelled my membership mainly because as a senior citizen not getting the COLA for the next two years I can't afford to stay on. I did explain this to this lady who told me I was the 3rd senior to cancel because of the COLA situation today the 17th of Sept. She did inform me because of my financial situation she was giving me a 50% discount on my 'final' order. I told her I would pay for the October shipment but I financially can't afford it. Even at the $283.29 it was reduced to after my 3rd month and an overall savings of $49.99 going with their auto delivery. I didn't have to delay the shipping schedule but when I joined I said I had to make sure I'd not be debited until the 3rd of each month with my SS was deposited. In watching my online bank website it was a relief to see they did debit me always the day before shipment but it took an average of 6-7 days for the amount to show in the transaction so that was good.
For me I was very apprehensive when I joined in May getting what they sent. I didn't think much of their so called pizza with cheese. The dough was tough, the cheese was rather dry. As for their lunches I imagine anyone could get tired of 'soups'. For the dinners that is another story. I did ask a councilor once if the business was owned by Italians as most of the dinners had pasta, lots of gravy and leaned a bit over board on Italian dishes. Nothing against Italians but a steady diet of it is a bit much no matter what was in the entree.
Then the packaging. I soon learned in choosing each months fare I look at how it was packaged and though I love macaroni and Cheese and Mac and cheese with beef the packaging I refused to order it. Simply put it comes in a paper 'cup' with a paper cover. You are to shake the cup before you lift the cover to shake up the dry stuff. Then fill to the fill line which is invisible literally. I had to run my fingernail up and down the outside of the cup pushing as I went trying to find something resembling a 'dent'. When I found it I pushed on it so I could attempt to see it looking into the ingredients. After adding hot water, putting the paper cover back over the instructions say to let it sit for 8-10 minutes!!! Not a good idea as one can imagine. The heat is not sustained and with the cheese it was more of a soup. I tried turning my glass one cup measure cup upside down over the cup/cover but that didn't keep the heat in. What pasta there was I'd say 90% of it was still dry like someone eating it out of the bag pasta comes in uncooked.
Therefore I made sure my lunches were all packaged in what I call plastic cups with the inner 'tin' lid you pull off with the pull tag. Then put back the plastic cover that was on before the pull tab. This cover has 4 small vent holes. For dinners I always made sure they were in a tray where all you do is pull a bit of it away for venting. Over all lunches and dinners were nice and hot in the containers I chose anywhere from 1 to 1.5 minutes so that is the only neat thing. As for taste like I said if you like spicy food, go for it. The gravys were very thick and most of the protein (or pasta) was swimming in the gravy. Portion was good after one gets used to it.
All I can say is I will not miss it, I won't go back to them. And I did write their headquarters in Horsham Pa about the packaging of those paper cups. I also suggested like others have how about sweetening the (free) pot by sending us frozen stuff from Schwams. Then it appears these celebrities flaunted on their ads.... come on Nutrisystem how about using real people, those who struggle with their weight but win the 'battle of the bulge' instead of weight loss not typical ? Give me a break.
So I am back to the drawing board buying my choices of foods in bulk pre cooking, roasting making them into serving portions and yes concentrating on more veggies and fruits and meats that I actually like. Alway a "PS" and here is the other. Their desserts are great. My weakness to be sure and I can go through all 28 choices in about 2 weeks. So at least now that won't be a concern when I take back my eating choices.

I signed up for nutrisystem because they had so many celeb's backing the product. I agree with most people the meals are distgusting and if you did like something the next time you went to order it the item was not available so you had to replace it with something else. there is something in the ingredients that make my stomatch upset and gas bubbles like the blueberry muffins and some of the lunch meals. when i signed up the deal I was suppose to get was buy 3 months and get the 4th month free. That dident happen i was charged for the 4th monthe 290.00 dllars i had to call and complain to 3 different people on 3 different occasion's they assured me they put the money back in my account which i never saw so i got back on a month later to verify that the money was back in my account which it was it took them a whole month to refund my money. Then I take a closer look and they charged my account again after they refunded me my money and said that i was still signed up for nutrisystem and that i was charged a 5th time for a package from UPS which I never reecievd I explained to them that i did not sign up for it that what i signed up for the the 3 months 4th months free he told me that if i dident say that i wanted to cancell my account they would just keep charging me and sending me the nutrisystem packages. I cancelled today but it will probably take them a whole month if not longer to refund me my money again.

my complaint is about the company in general. they advertise a free week, but your free week is foods you did not order, if i wanted them i would have ordered them. all the free food i got i will not eat. second the commercial says new menue items even ice cream delivered right to your door free, not true for frozen foods there is an extra charge and delivery is 18.00. i concider that false advertsing

When I explained my reaction to the food the woman looked up my menu and said that the foods I had chosen have a lot of Sugar Alcohol in them. She sent me a list of the foods they offer that do not have Maltitol, Sorbitol or Isomalt in them and assured me that all would be well. I considered changing my menu but I decided to cancel my program. I continue to work on calming my digestive system down.

the order for diet food was canceled in may 2009 at the end of july i got a box by ups and nutrisystem had taken the 259.00 from my account the food was denied and sent back they have received it but still havent returned my money the reason i canceled was because i didnt have the money now i am still out the259

Nutrisystem autoshipped an order I did not want, then took 7 days just to "issue" a credit. My bank says no electronic credit has been issued, so Nutrisystem is lying.

I ordered Nutrisystem online after seeing advertisements for their new "Nutrisystem Advanced" program that works with the glycemic index. I thought this would be a great way to lose weight. After receiving the product, I read through all of the literature, and began using the diet EXACTLY as instructed, drank 8 glasses of water each day, and continued on my program of moderate exercise which I had already begun previous to starting Nutrisystem After the 4th day on the diet I began to have unbearable stomach upset, pain, bloating, and then continuous diarrhea. The pain and discomfort caused me to lose sleep, as did the frequent trips to the bathroom. I have dieted many times before, and lost weight successfully, and I have never had this type of experience.

I ordered the nutrisystem program ($399.95 per month). The food was disgusting and not fit for consumption, but I was determined to loss weight. After 2 1/2 days on the program, my stomach started to ache and feel sore. I stopped the program, calling Nutrisystem on 5/20/09 to cancel. I was asked if I had received the frozen food yet and I answered no. I was told that they would also cancel that. On 5/27, I received the frozen food and the delivery man told me he could not return it but as of Midnight, Nutrisystem had not canceled the frozen food.
I called Nutrisystem and explained what had just transpired. I was told that I would receive my full amount and to either keep, or donate the frozen food. I certainly did not want to keep it! So, I donated it. I received a $270 refund after several calls. I again called to inquire about the remaining amount and was told that it would be refunded to me in 3-5 business days. After this period of time, I called, repeating the above. I was then told that their office does not make the determination about refunds....the Operations Office does. I asked for a phone number and was told that they do not accept calls. I again asked for a status of my refund and was put off again. I have lost $130 and feel this is a scam. The food is horrible and the customer service is even worse!

Ordered product on line. Paid with credit card. Summary page showed $304 total cost.
Received email confirmation saying my credit card was charged $354.90. $49.95 shipping charge that I did not agree to. Called back 7:15 am Hawaii time the next morning to cancel order. Sales rep said she would contact warehouse to stop shipping and get back to me.
She did not call me back but I received an email that night saying my order had been shipped. I called back the next day and the rep told me the order was shipped so to just refuse shipment when the UPS truck arrives. I did that.
Days later I received a refund from Nutrisystem but for only $286. I called 6/9/09 and spoke to supervisor Lia, she could not help me. I asked to speak to a manager. She said they were all in a meeting and one would call me back. No one called so the next day I spoke to another supervisor, Neal. He couldn't help but said he would refer my case to his manager Lynne.
He called me back later and said she couldn't do anything because they had to pay for shipping back.
My cell phone records show that I called in to cancel my order at 7:16 am Hawaii time (10:16 am NV time), UPS tracking shows that they did not pick up my package until 2:25 pm NV time, 4 hours after I canceled the order.

Constantly substituing items for items I ordered...these items were invariably the dehydrated foods instead of the packaged microwavable ones, which am sure are more cost effecient for the Company. More than 30 per cent of the items were substituted, even after I told them not to send it if they were going to make subs.

In May 2007 we ordered the Nutri System package for $342. We tried 4 or 5 of the meals within the first 3 days and realized we would not continue due to the poor quality of the food and terrible taste. We followed the directions to return and sent back. We were only refunded $97 because they said we only returned a small portion of the items. This is totally false. Either someone took items out of our return to sell again or use for their personal use, but we certainly did return all the product except "at the most" 5 meals. We contacted NutriSystems and they denied receiving most all of the product. We protested but could not find anyone who would remedy our complaint.

I'm cancelling my account as of now (5/19/09) for the following reasons:
The food is unhealthy containing hydrogenated oils (which are in fact trans fats which they say their food does not contain: false advertising anyone? AND not to mention they're banned in MA!)It also contains high fructose corn syrup (which tells your body to keep eating), dyes (which are banned in Europe due to their cancer causing properties), and enriched flour (instead of whole grains). Ask any doctor and they will tell you as a person trying to get healthy and lose weight, these ingredients should be avoided.
They are now charging me shipping fees to send back the food and a fee of $18.95 to cancel!!!!

I called to cancel a shipment because we did not need it. My husband and I went onto the program together and he lost 20 lbs (his goal) the first month. We received an auto shipment for him that we did not need (because I forgot to have him cancel it in time!) so I had plenty of Nutrisystem food (if you can call it that) to last me. He then called and cancelled his account. (or so we thought).
Four days before my next scheduled auto delivery, I noticed a pending charge on our account that nearly depleted our money; I quickly called NS and got 'Brian". He was nice, until he asked why I was cancelling. I told him the pending billing amt was not right and I didn't want to mess with NS any more. (truthfully I'm able to lose weight with better food on my own, using grocery store foods, and for a fraction of the cost!) He went on about how billing mistakes just don't happen and so I finally told him, the NS food tastes like a%%. At that point he got snotty and informed me it would cost me $52 to cancel! Nowhere in my membership materials or in the ordering section online did it say that if you dont accept two shipments of food, that you would be charged money. I'd been on NS before two years ago, and so I think I know my way around NS a little bit. Oh no he insisted, you have to pay that. I told him I will be disputing the charge.
After getting off the phone with him I kept thinking how that $$ amt was too high for my order charge (I'd had several discounts applied), so I logged into NS under my husband's account and sure enough, they were trying to ship HIM another box even though we had cancelled. SO I picked up the phone and called NS again. This time a woman answered (did not get her name). I told her I was calling because we had a pending charge for an account that should have been closed; she immediately went on the attack! "You just called and talked to BRIAN (i guess they track you using your phone number) and he already told you that you have to pay $52!" WHAT?? I told her no, that's not the issue. I told her that my husband's account showed an auto ship was coming and they'd debited my acct, and we had canceled his shipments last month. Of course she denied this. Then she asked, "Why are you canceling his account?" I told her because he had lost his goal weight already. THIS seems to be a reasonable answer; they don't want to hear that you are unhappy with their incorrect billing or that you feel their food tastes like garbage. She then tried to push me into signing him up for 'maintenance'. I asked her why would we continue our relationship with NS if they are going to charge me $52 because I feel their product is inferior? That was the end of that conversation, she quickly sent me over to a supervisor with a foreign accent (did they send me to India?) who gave me a confirmation number to cancel hubby's account.
I then logged into NS and sent them an email about how I've been a customer repeatedly and had referred many people to them (as evidenced by all the friend discounts I had pending on my account). I asked them to please remove the $52 charge as it was not on their site when I ordered (I LOOKED!) nor was it in my membership materials. I ended the letter by stating that not charging me would show good faith on their part and would let me leave NS as a happy customer who would speak highly of the program to others. When I logged in earlier this morning the charge was removed from my pending section on my bank account. The $304 charge though, that they promised to remove, was still there.
When I logged into my email there was a snotty letter about how the charge was clearly displayed on the web site (do you think I would have ordered, knowing they'd charge me if I was not happy?!?!?!?! Do they think we don't read their site before ordering??) and that the charge would stand. Sure enough, that charge was BACK on my account this morning.
Needless to say, I'm disputing this charge (all their fraudulent charges! For product I have not even gotten nor do I want!) with my card. And I'm going to make sure that every person I know, hears what kind of dishonesty NS perpetuates. I'm also sending anyone who mentions they want to try NS, the online book that another NS member made when she could not afford NS any more. She replicates their plan with foods you can make yourself, and you sure aren't getting hit with all the powdery dried up nasty food or the sodium content from hell!I think Nutrisystem has finally lost their edge. Their customer service is no longer a plus for them.

I'm very disappointed with NutriSyem; the FOOD (if you want to call it that).
I would not feed this to my dog. The food is horrible. Most of what I tried tasted terrible, dry and left a nasty taste in my mouth. I got a headache after eating the stuff. I tried to return and was given two different address to return. I was charged an extra $52.00 and the $18.95 shipping cost because I originally signed up for Auto Delivery and after recieving my order decided to return. There site offered 100% satisfaction or your money back. I don't understand why I'm out $52.00 and shipping cost plus what it cost me to return if I'm returning 99% of what I received (a real bad deal). I suppose if your product is this bad, then cheating your customers is one way to make a profit. Even if I paid $350.00 for my order and then returned it, it shouldnt cost anything except the cost of the items I did not return.

When ordering on-line there is nowhere that explains if they are out of stock of any item that they will substitute in other meals. I am a vegetarian and they substituted meat meals...they also give you a week's free of meals and they choose those for you - you have no input on that either......I received my package and 3/4 of it I couldn't eat. When I called they seem to acknowledge that this happens all the time and only a few people actually return the items...most just keep it and try it anyway......disgusting now I have to wait weeks for a credit on my VISA.
This will not be taken off my Visa for some time I'm sure.......

Very disappointed. Myself, My Staff, and My Husband all joined Nutrisystem. Each one of us could not make it past the fourth day. Whe we opened the boxes most of the food was dehryated. And Shelf products. I must say we were amazed. Then we tried it. It truly was unpalatiable. We could not believe all these celebs were advertising this. The sodium was unbelieveable. In the morning my fingers were swolen like sausages. The eggs dehrydated were something else they swelled in the micro. I had my son take them to school for a science experement. Discusting. The customer service is not at all accodimating either. They will not return my money after I followed there protocol.
OUT $600.00

I ordered Nutrisystem through Costco in March '09 and while I loved and appreciated the lower Costco price, it appears that Nutrisystem has special food selections for the lower cost deals. Sort of their way of making up the money they are losing. Seeing the presentation on QVC, I thought the food looked acceptable. But being a savvy shopper, I ordered through Costco. A five week supply cost $265.00. Which, when averaged out, cost about $7.50 a day. Not bad, I thought. Cheaper than the deal on TV.
Well, then I got my first shipment and about half the food items are powdered! And I found all the powdery foods very unpalatable. I cringe at the thought of the powdered Cheesy Mashed Potatoes. Tasted like sandy mush. YUCK. However, all of the wet food, while bland and a little mushy was OK and if my box had been filled with nothing but the normal NON-POWDERED foods I think I could have stuck with it. But I am convinced that they have deliberately given me a cheap order because of the price I paid.
I am going to be returning it.

I recieved the products from qvc. I had to pay 20$ for shipping after i found out i could of ordered the same thing from nutrisystem without shipping costs. When i first opened the box i was very disapointed because it looked horrible... I thought no wonder marie lost so much weight if you ate that you would.. anyway i started the diet a week later on a mon and by the 7th day i quit because i hated the food so bad it was horrible and i could not eat one more of their meals.
I ate some stroganoff for lunch and i gagged it down because i wanted to loose the weight so bad but it was disgusting.... i sent it back through the mail paid another 20$ to ship it back. called them because i did not recieve my money back. I can not find my reciept that i mailed it back so they wont refund my money... I felt like i was really ripped off and they sent me food that nobody else wanted.

In early February I ordered Nutrisystem but in the online ordering process you cannot request a delivery date or program start date. However they process your payment immediately. I called Nutrisystem within 5 minutes of placing my order to schedule a delivery as I wa sleaving toan and didn't want the food sitting outside my home for 4 days. I was told the package was all ready being shipped and there was nothing I could do. I called again and asked for a supervisor, Brian told me at that time he would stop the delivery and reschedule it for the date I was returning home. Upon returning home, several days passed and there was no delivery.
I called Nutrisystem to hear that they shipped the package and delivered it while I was out of town. But I had no package! I was told at that time, a new shipment would be sent right away and arrive within 4 days. One more week passed and no food. I called again and was now told I had to wait another 10 days while an investigation was completed. At that time, I cancelled my order with the rep on the phone and asked for a refund, I was told I had to then pay for shipping of the product I never received. I also sent an email requesting in writing a cancellation and e refund. Throughout this time I sent 4 emails that were never answered.
The day following the call where I was told I had to wait 10 days, the food was delivered. One hand does not know what the other is doing. I called to request the food be picked up and Brian told me UPS would come within 48 hours to PU the package. It was not picked up a week later. I called again to be told that I never cancelled my order and that another shipment was pending delivery and a new charge to my credit card was pending. This supervisor, Janea, told me I was not telling the truth as no supervisor noted anything in my account. At that time I cancelled with Janea and requested she make a note in the computer as to all the issues. She assured me once the package was picked up, I would receive a full refund. As of yet, no refund and no communication.
My loss has been in wages lost while on the phone with this compay. The average phone call was 40 minutes. I have phone records showing this. It is also a mental struggle to decide to begin a major weight loss program, pay out $300.00 to not receive your food and get such a run around. A month later, no weight loss, no food and greatly frustrated and defeated. Currently I am out $300.00 in food costs and $125.00 in wages.

I had an issue with moving around on their web page and called for help. The gentleman I talked to helped with my problems and actually gave me free stuff because of the problems. Not bad CS.
I have not had one bit of grief from these folks. They have always done what I asked and several years ago, when I had to go off their plan because of financial and business travel reasons, they quickly halted my deliveries without any issues. It took less than five minutes to cancel.
I have re-started the plan now that I am stable and have reduced business travel. I have been on the plan for about four weeks and have lost nearly 15 pounds, heading toward a goal of 50 pounds. Not too shabby... And I have not been hungry at all. I had a little dizziness and gas to start, but that passed after a week or so (no pun intended).
Any time you start to eat a balanced diet with low carbs, after eating crap for years (one person on this site mentioned a "good meal" at McDonalds; which I find to be an oxymoron), your body will rebel. Some folks are so addicted to sugar, caffeine, and fat that they will be physically sick and have severe withdrawal symptoms. This is not the fault of the diet food, it is the fault fo the dieter, who probably hasn't eaten a balanced meal, and certainly not a balanced diet day after day, in years. When you start a balanced diet, whether it be N/S or Atkins or even Jenny Craig, expect loose bowels, gas, being tired, upset stomache, etc. It's your body's way of dealing with proper nutrition. It will all pass within several weeks once your body gets used to a balanced intake and smaller portions.
If you have food allergies, talk to the N/S folks. They can help you. That is why they are there.
The food has been rather tasty, and with a little creativity with added spices and veggies, it is quite good. I love the feeling of getting back into pants I haven't worn in months or years and the weight it is taking off my feet and joints.
Dieting is not easy. It kinda sucks... But NS does make it easier and is pretty much a no-brainer.

These people bully you into getting this stuff. i was on it for 2 months and i liked it. well for the holidays. i didnt want to diet. well i told them i wanted to CANCEL. They didnt want me to cancel, no they had an idea. How about we dont cancel you out we just push it to say April and see if you want to do it then. That way sir you get the low price. Nurtisystem Girl. Well I got on my computer to check my e-mail/Facebook etc. And what do i see an E-mail from Nutrisystem reading YOUR ORDER HAS BEEN SHIPPED.
That was sent 3-13-09 8:30am then I started looking back at my emails from them. and there were 2 more from this week one from Monday 3-9-09 @ 10:06 am reading INFORMATION about next autoship. and then one Thursday 3-12-09 @ 9:05 PM reading YOUR NUTRISYSTEM ORDER. ALL OTHER EMAILS FROM THEM ARE HOW I CAN WIN $40,000, true stories, intro NS Select. NOTHING TO DO WITH MY ORDER.
Well i called Nurtisystem and i told them that i had just checked my email.(yes i do go days without checking it but i check it atleast once a week) and that they shipped an order that I DIDN'T ORDER. Well the this lady just lets me have it. Telling me its my fault for not cancelling it before it shipped and its my problem to deal with. oh yea rude as she could be. She furhter went in to explain how it was all my falut and all i had to do was answer one of the 8 emails they sent me. I tried to tell her that the 3emails that had to do with my order all came within 4 days.
those other 5 emails had nothing to do with my order they were about giveaways and stoies but she kept on speaking over me and then when i told her i wanted to talk to a supervisor she gave me a cancellation number then hung up on me. I feel as though i have been wronged by Nutrisystem and made to feel stupid by it's employee

After months on the phone trying to get things right, the last time was it for me - I was actually losing weight but it wasn't worth the hassle. They double shipped my order and won't refund my money. I have put in a complaint with my credit card company to dispute the charge.

After a week of NutriSystem I experienced multiple problems with my stomach, loose bowels, nausea, etc. Since I am in no way a sickly person, I pretty much determined it was the food. I wrote an e-mail to NutriSystem explaining my delema and asked for a Return Authorization Code which they require for all returns. I placed the order on February 5, (of course they took my money right away), I received the shipment on February 12, and asked to return it on February 18. Today is February 24 and they informed me that was not within 30 days? Are you kidding me? A kindergardener could do this math!!

I phoned nutri system in July 08 and requested information about their weight loss program. I was bullied into purchasing their product. I requested one month. The second order I could customize if I wanted to. Never got the chance it was sent out within two weeks of the first order. I expressed that our lives would be too hectic to start the program at the time. I mentioned that it may be a couple of months before we started because of the renovation. Should I order the food at a later date. I was told that wouldn't be a problem. No problems with return. Untrue.
I later found out there was a 30 return policy. Something the sales guy on the phone did not mention. I expressed clearly to him that I wouldn't be able to get to the food for at least a couple of months. He didn't direct me to the website where I could find this information regarding their return policy. I would have waited to place my order. He also didn't tell me I couldn't be on the program if I was breastfeeding. Which I was. I asked if the foods expired or had expiration dates. I was told NO. Which is not true. I found expiration dates on several items and I received them around and after the expiration date. I requested they replace the expired food because they weren't going to refund my money. The manager agreed to resend me some food without expiration. I have not received anything.
Also there is a dispute for $300. A shipment I cancelled and Purolator can testify to that was delivered by mistake. When trying to return it..it was a disaster because I later found out it was UPS that dropped it off so Purolator could not pick it up. After several calls to UPS and several missed pickups by them it was finally returned but with no refund. I have no product or my desired and requested refund. It was shipped back to them after the 30 days. Completely out of my control. I was also not notified that the food was high in sodium and contained soy. Both of which makes me very ill. Allergy/IBS.
Both my husband and I ordered the food 1200 dollars worth. I was also suppose to be able to pick my food but orders were shipped anyhow. I ate the food while I was breastfeeding. I was not notified of any risks. I didn't receive anything in the shipment that said BEWARE. In regards to the box of food I sent back to them they encouraged me to lie to my credit card company and get the money back that way. To take the dispute up with my credit card company. I told them that that would be dishonest. The credit card company is not responsible.
I am out 1200 and have a pantry filled with food I cannot eat. And, $300 they refuse to refund and no product. They have several complaints against them. They should be prosecuted. They are bullies. I wanted to succeed on the program but they set me up to fail. They just wanted my money. They didn't care the risks to my health or my baby's health. They put my baby in danger because I was breastfeeding. I was so sick from eating the food. Huge emotional stress and burden from guilt of purchase and money wasted and product unable to consume.

I followed up with a letter disputing the charge to BML. This time they denied the dispute because Nutrisystem did not show record of any returned merchandise. I requested verification from Nutrisystem of my receipt and acceptance of additional merchandise and of course they dont do that.
I spoke with an attorney who reccommended that I make an offer to settle the account and have it paid in full. I sent a letter to BML in October 2008 making an offer to pay the account in full (including their accrued late fees and charges) less the amount of the disputed charge. I might add that I continually get phone calls from different collectors for them who are obviously independent contractors because no one knows what anyone else is doing.
I never recieved a response to my offer. But I still got collection calls. In January 09 I recieved one of those calls. I again repeated the course of events on my account. The man I spoke with said he would definitely look into the matter. There was no record of my offer to settle. I faxed him a copy of the letter with all of my supporting documents.
I am still getting calls but no further response to my offer. Today I recieve a notice from a collection agency with the immediate call from them. I have written a complaint to the Federal Trade Commissions Consumer Protection Office.
These people should definitely be investigated for internet fraud, unauthorized charges, and monies transferred interstate by wire. All of this falls under both state and federal jurisdictions. I am now thinking about filing a suit. Anyone for a class action?

I had no idea that most of the product contained soy. Nor did I know that I have an allergy to soy until I started on that product. I got extremely ill from eating the product. I only took two days worth of food in my system. I just signed up for one month and I am happy about that because that was $350 wasted. Now I have a bunch of dehydrated food just sitting here I will never eat. I think that the counselors at Nutrisystem should tell people that most of their food contains soy so that unsuspecting people like me do not get sick. However, I did not know that I had a soy allergy as I just simply don't eat soy as a general rule. I guess the good news to come out of this for me is that now I know about my allergy. But I will never recommend Nutrisystem to anyone and will warn people about my experience.

NutriSystem has a very sophisticated and difficult-to-defeat scam going on with their auto-delivery system. I have had the same experiences as other posters on the site who received orders they did not want, and could not return them or get NutriSystem to stop shipping new ones. I called several times every month -- and emailed -- to get them to cancel my order, and was willing to pay a penalty for them to stop. They always said they would stop the order and then the orders would show up anyway. Once they sent orders when I had notified them that I would be out of the country for several weeks. By the time I returned, they said it was too late to return the food for credit.
The next month, they sent more food even though I had called to suspend delivery, and when I called they said they would take the charges off my credit card bill, but later told me I had to make several follow-up calls with a special return number AFTER I had already shipped the food back at my own expense. At least $1,500 later, they finally stopped shipping, and I still have months' worth of food I cannot use. Trying to ship a return order cost $48, even though I hadn't ordered it. I am shocked that so many celebrities would allow NutriSystem to use their names, given the horribly deceptive and unethical business practices of the company. I would urge anyone considering NutriSystem to walk away and never look back. They are dishonest and deceitful, and should be investigated by the FTC.
I am out thousands of dollars and have months' worth of unused food crowding my home that I will have to throw away. And, the food made my digestive system revolt, making me sick.

My wife was interested in trying the Nutrisystem after she saw too many ads on tv, so she went online trying to find as much info as she can before deciding to join their program. As she was not convinced yet, she left her info to contact her. Meanwhile i was doing searches about the company and their business and i was lucky to check this web site before she made any decision to join their program.
I am so greatful to this web site, they saved me alot of money and headaches. The company mailed my wife so many pictures of costomers who presumably lost weight through their program and so many forms to fill out and some coupons. But with the knowledge we had about their company she didnt join and after two weeks someone from the company called her and try to convince her to join and she made it clear she dont wanna be cause of all the complaints about their policies and food and the whole company and she even adviced the guy to look at the consumer affairs web site to read all kind of complaints people had left about them and his answer was: we changed the whole customer representative departement and we no longer have any problem with any customer.
This happened like six months ago and I can see right now that it was a lie trying to convince my wife to join. My advice to anyone who wants to join their program even after reading this and he is not convinced: dont use your credit card, get a gift card for whatever you gonna pay for the first order this way if you like the program then reload your gift card and buy again and if you dont they cant charge your gift card as there be with no fund on it.

I fully expected to not like every meal, but i did not expect that the food would be nothing like what was presented on television, not even close and that seems like false advertising to me. However, that being said if it tasted ok then i could forgive the misrepresentation of the food but most of it was not good some were ok at best.
I will be throwing out at least 2.5 weeks worth of their food and a large chunk of my money along with it. I get that they couldn't sell nutrisystem on t.v. if they showed what the food really looked like, but to show food that they don't sell (at least in canada anyway), well that is just wrong.
A lot of disappointment as it took me awhile to get up the courage and mind set to start a diet as well as put up the money to get it. For once i was determined to succeed and then to fail because a company sent me basically dog food to eat was extremely deflating.

We've been trying for 6 months to get Nurtisystem to STOP sending product. My wife signed up on line in June, 2008, signing up for a buy one month get one week free offer. She tried to stomach largely inedible food in the name of doing the right thing. In Aug., she called to complain and was told they had signed her up for a 6 month program. She asked to cancel. They refused. She then received 2 orders in Aug. and 3 more months and left it all unopened, having given up on getting satisfaction.
After the Nov. shipment, she called the first of December to demand a return and cancellation. She was told that it would be cancelled, but was not told that another shipment was on the way. That shipment for Dec. arrived the same day as the return authorization for the Nov. delivery. Nutrisystem Customer Service does now acknowledge the Dec, 10 call and the refund. I hashed this out during 54 minutes of long distance that included 48 minutes of wait time. Didn't get satisfaction from rep, who referred me to Curt, the supervisor. He has referred me to the VM of Chris Kinesso (sp?), who is supposed to call Mon., Jan. 9.
I have contacted the credit card company to dispute payment for the Dec. and Jan. charges. My demand is to get an additional 2 months return and credit for the Sept. and Oct. shipments.
An initial commitment for $277. has now become over 1500. as NutriSystem used intimidation and diversionary customer service to ignore complaints and force a contract fulfillment which was not made clear in the initial offer. Now refusing to stop shipment long after the contract was fulfilled brings me to demand that additional product be returned and credited. This is an absolute minimum and very fair penalty for the continual aggravation and blatant disregard for legitimate complaints brought to their attention.

I joined and lost 10 pounds but was ready to diet alone. I tried to cancel but was told they would suspend my account. Two months later I was sent an e-mail that a $300 shipment was being sent and I immediately canceled. However, the shipment slipped under the radar and I had to refuse the order at my house. Here is the kicker. My credit card still showed the purchased shipment for $300 after several weeks and when I called Nutrisystem to get my money back Yolanda told me I have to call to get it off the credit card. Deceitful! Still waiting for full refund.

Anyone who believes that a company can offer you safe, nourishing meals for the price they state on their TV ads, I have a bridge to sell ya! Where does this product come from? Why would you consider eating nauseating food loaded with chemicals and you have no idea who or where it was prepared or under what conditions? A fool is born is every day. Eat healthy, local and whole.

Signed up for ONE MONTH of Nutrisystem, didn't like the food (no need to elaborate--it's just over-processed and I can do better) and had no intention of re-ordering. Lo and behold, I receive e-mail notification that my next order has been shipped. Contacted Nutrisystem and was told that You knew what you were doing when you signed up. A very rude woman informed me that the error was on my part and that there would be a $50.00 re-stocking fee for the returned items.
She then transferred me to another customer service representative who cheerfully asked me if I had reached my goal when I told her that I was calling to cancel my order. When I told her that it was unlikely that I would have reached a 40 pound weight loss goal in one month, she challenged me on my decision to cancel. I explained that I did not like the food. She replied with a very tongue-in-cheek: Well, I hope you get that weight off. She then processed my cancellation, gave me a reference number, and hung up on me as I was about to ask her how long it would take to process my cancellation.
There was some satisfaction in being able to rate their customer service through an automated survey at the end of the call. Before the cancellation experience, I would have told friends to try Nutrisystem for themselves and decide. Now, I would advise them not to waste their time and money on a company with such terrible customer service.
I am now out a $50.00 re-stocking fee, and time will tell how long it takes Nutrisystem to credit my account for the not yet received order.

I tried to return my recalled items today but Nutrisystem said they have a 30 day only return policy. I have food allergies & would like to return all the items I couldn't eat for my money back. I thought the dinners were horrible-they smelled like cat food.
I kept getting diarrhea from the foods & finally gave up. I am out 2 months of $299.00 each month. I should have stuck to Weight Watchers instead of believing their advertising about their great tasting meals!

Nutrisystem is advertising low-sodium and heart-healthy in their commericials. Products do not meet established FDA criteria for these claims and should be pulled.
Illegal products claims

My husband and I got so ill eating their food for around 2 weeks, called company. no satisfacion. Then found about peanut butter recall, got some left. Cant get money back, please tell me what to do.
got deathly ill

I read with interest the other complaints about substitution of something other than what I ordered. I was initially able to find things I liked, and was able to make the diet work. Being away from home made the system attractive. However, 1) the substitutions were terrible, 2) the food I liked was changed and became terrible, and 3) the company was unresponsive to complaints.
I cannot say that I suffered damage. The only thing I lost was something I did not have when I started; I no longer had a diet that was working for me. I am reluctant to blame my inability to diet on someone else.

I feel that the Nutrisystem (N/S) commercials are very misleading. After seeing numerous commercials on T.V., I was considering ordering their product. I am so glad that I read the online reviews first. I cannot believe N/S is able to operate in such a shoddy and unprofessional manner! Thanks to everyone who posted their experiences with N/S! I feel that you have saved me a lot of money and wasted time. Also, considering that I already have Crohn's Disease, you have also saved me from adding to my gastrointestinal problems! Thanks again!

I received my Nutrisystem auto delivery on Thursday 1/15/09. I opened the box to make sure that it was not a repeat of the previous month as it is suppose to be a rotating plan with weekends off. The vegetable beef soup sounded really good. So I decided to have that for lunch. I heated as per instructions dumped in bowl. It had an extremely pungent smell. I looked at the bottom of the container and the date was 1998. I was horrified. I called Nutrisystem & they said that was just a bunch of number well to me est 1998 mean just that it was est in 1998. They wanted to know how many foods said that & they would send them to me. If they weren't made in 1998 why would you try to make the good It is now 2009 - 11 years later its a good thing I didn't eat it.

I ordered Nutrisystem on 1/09 from the nutrisystem online site. At no time did I see anything telling me I had to buy supplemental foods. That was the first deception. Then I start trying to eat the food, believe me, I tried. It not only had little substance in the gravy but was substandard. Nutrisystem billed their food as delicious and the pictures looked great. The reality is they are tiny bits and pieces of vegetables and meat swimming in a disgusting gravy. The muffins were all stale.
Upon discovering how horrible the food was I decided to see if anyone else felt the same way. So I googled nutrisystem horrible.
Ok. Here is my damage. I received free shipping when I ordered. Now I have to pay that back plus the shipping cost to send it back. Upon reading what others have had to say about the so called refund, it appears I might have some problems with that. I am sending mine back tomorrow. I will not know if I will get a refund or what the amount will be. I'll let you know.

I started the nutrisystem program in november of 2007 and signed up to have 3 months and get one week for free. The first month I never received the free week and was not compensated. They often do subsititute and give me things I did not order and the free week which I finally did get after I complained was awful/ No one asked me what products I would like and I did not like any of the ones they send. Their shipping information is not correct since it does not match the information ups has and I never know when I am receiving the packages.
I cnqaceled the plan on 1-12009 and was told I would have my refund back in my checking account by no later than january6, 2009. It is january 6 I do not have the money in my account and my bank will not credit me back the 301 back in my account until they fax it to my bank. They are liers since they told it was done on the morning of the 6th and it was not done and then they denied that I even called them that day to make the request. I have an adverse bank balance as a result of them not putting the money back in my account and they could care less. This company needs to be held accountable for their irresponsible and unprofessional matter of dealing with people.
I have an adverse amount in my bank account and I cannot buy any food, gas go to doctors etc. This stressful econmically and emotionally,

I ordered the Nutrisystem in September 08 - It arrived in October 2008 and after trying a few items and getting violently ill I contacted Nutrisystem, spoke with very friendly Sarah and told her not only did I not want any further shipments but I wanted my money back on the rest of the food I could not stomach - She assured me that some items were not as palatable as others and if I just give it another try she could postphone further shipoments until Jan 09 and if I decided that I truly did not want the food to just call and cancel with no further obligation - I tried 2 more items with the same reaction so I called to cancel -
First I got Impiaz who told me I could not get a refund because my 7 days had passed - I explained that I was given additional time and he said there was nothing he could do - I said I did not want any further shipments and he transferred me to Jay who tried to get me to continue but when I told him I did not want anything else from this company he said I could cancel but there would be a $50 cancellation fee!!!! I asked why I had to pay to cancel something that not only made me sick but didn;t want in the first place and he explained that the autoship required a minimum of 2 orders and since I only paid for one then I had to pay the rip-off $50 cancellation fee even though I did not even want the first shipment!!!

I have never experienced such incompetence with a company. There are constant substitutions of products, and substitutions with items that are completely unacceptable. Orders are shipped monthly, and in 14 months I have only ever received two orders that do not have substitutions. Keep in mind there are always products listed as in limited supply. Yet they substitute items constantly that are not listed as in limited supply. They have substituted with items that they tell people on the website cannot be ordered because they are in limited supply. It just does not make sense. I very much believe they substitute with items that are not selling.
And they do not allow you to have a list of sorts of things you do not ever want to receive. Inevitably you'll get a substitution of something that you find intolerable, and the onus is on you to send the item back for a partial refund. Every time I contact customer via email, it takes a minimum of 5 emails to have a question answered because CS does not comprehend what is actually being asked. Their website is a mess, with wrong information suddenly appearing in your account. For example, my name was suddenly changed, thus compromising my account. No one can tell me why. My credit card was just charged more than $1200 for an order that should have been $247. The next day all charges have been removed and I receive a notice stating that they cannot process my order because they were unable to charge my credit card account.
The end product is good. Don't get me wrong -there are some horrific food items they offer, but if you choose the plan where you can pick what you want, some of the food is really good, and you will see results. I am cancelling my association with the company, however, due to the constant and suspect substitutions of food, the lousy website/IT issues, and the worst customer service on the planet. Let me qualify that -when you call NS the people that answer the phones are more than competent. That is not always an option, though. The people answering email CS are a complete joke. I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to 'fix' constant issues and I'm just not willing to waste anymore time with them.
I am not getting what I am paying for. I spend money to be able to choose particular items, and then what I choose is substituted for with items that I believe are unpopular and not selling well.

I stopped my NutriSystems delivery due to a pregnancy. We sent back an UNOPENED box of food via UPS. Since we sent it via ground, UPS charged us by the box dimensions, not weight. NutriSystems is refusing to give us our full refund because the UPS label said the package we returned only weighed .10 lbs! A box that measures 22x18x15 is goign to weigh more than a tenth of a pound!
UPS explained that the weight means nothing because they billed us by the box size. They also said NutrySystems should understand this because NutriSystems uses UPS to ship their packages! NutriSystems is calling me a liar by saying they are only gong to go by the label that UPS put on the box, and since it says it only weighed .10 lbs, no refund! I told them to open the box but Dee said they throw returned food away so they can't open the box to verify what was in it!
I am going to try a small claim lawsuit because it's the principal of the matter. BUYER BEWARE! NO REFUND AS OF YET (11/3/08)

On my second order, I specifically chose my own foods because there are Nutrisystem foods that I do not like. When I opened my most recent order, imagine my surprise when I various desserts and lunches in my order which I did not order I do not like certain foods, hence do not include them in my orders. I realize that Nutrisystem may be out of stock of certain food items, but at the very least, their customer service representatives should contact the customer directly to choose replacement items.
Approximately $75 worth of food on a $326 order

I was part of nutrisystem and the food was not great but I found it edible. I did get substitutions for meals I picked and there were always shortages. They also offer a 50 clicks you visit the site and click on the dailey dose every day and after 50 days you receive a $10 coupon. You can save them up and use them with other offers. I had 6 of them and went to order my food. Not one of the codes worked. I wrote to them they responded the codes would now work. They did not.
I wrote again and was told there was a glitch and now they would work and got different codes. They did not work. Thsi has gone on for almost 3 months and no one has fixed this problem. They also have a buddy bucks program for referring your friends. Tehy will give you both $30 coupon code. these also do not work. I now think nutrisysem is in the business of false advertising and fraudulant coupon codes to help get business.

I ordered the month long Nutrisystem plan in August, thinking that the food would at least be palatable. Most wasn't. The mashed potatoes that came with the meatloaf were gray. The rice in the pepper steak and rice was a gray blob, and the pepper steak did not exist, it was just a bunch of gravy with some small chucks that could have been meat and/or pepper. The rehydrated eggs were disgusting, even with lots of ketchup that probably negated the carb/calorie content of the eggs. The minestrone was your worst dehydrated cup of soup ever. The only thing that was fair were the sour cream and onion soy chips. I couldn't go in trying to eat this stuff so I stopped.
I called customer service and advised them that the food was disgusting and that I wanted to stop the program. Rather than be concerned, they first tried to talk me into continuing to order anything that I had found edible and just eating that. I had to re-use the word disgusting to convince them that my business was gone. Then, she says that they will charge me for the discount I had received when I placed my order. I had to invoke the 30 day money back guarantee, at which time she transferred me to someone else. The new person whose name I didnt catch was even less sympathetic.
Then I was told that I could send the uneaten food back at my expense and she gave me an RMA number. All anyone had to do was be a little more concerned that it was a really bad experience and offer to take the food back, not make me bring it up and not try to sell me more awful food. It would have been really nice to be able to ship the stuff back at their expense, but oh well. So Im off to the post office to spend probably another $15 to $20 or more because there is so much food I couldnt bring myself to eat.
Well, I don't know exactly how much money I am out yet. I still have to ship the stuff back and see how much my refund will be. I just really wanted there to be another voice in the issue of Nutrisystem and their policies/false promises.

I ordered the program from QVC, as I did three years ago........the plan had been great back then, so thought nothing of going to NutriSystem again for my weightloss needs. The very first dinner entree I opened actually shocked me.........it looked and smelled like vomit (I am a registered nurse, so am very familiar....). I tried to eat it, but the taste was revolting. Committed to sticking with the plan, I kept trying, thinking that I was just getting the odd defective meal. Nope.
After a little more than a week, came down with what I thought was the flu.....nausea, horrible gas and spending a lot of time on the toilet. When the symptoms got worse (including headaches), I stopped eating altogether. Within a few days, I felt much better, but became very ill after returning to the food. I have no other health problems that could have contributed to this situation.
Coworkers had also asked me not to microwave my NutriSystem food on our work unit, as the smell of it was very offensive to them.......the same folks that can be smelling foul things from ill patients and still eat their lunches!
After realizing that the program is not only unappealing, but made me ill, I was very disappointed.....to say the least. My time and money was wasted. Fortunately, because I'd ordered from QVC, I shall be reimbursed in an effective and timely fashion for the shipment. I also told the QVC rep that the NutriSystem advertising was very misleading....... they never mentioned the large amount of food needed to accompany the program, in addition to the appearance of the food in advertising and on the packages being NOTHING like what I found. Buyer beware!!!!! I feel it is unhealthy, to say the least.

I ordered the nutrisystem diet plan and atleast half of the snacks and breakfast pastries were stale and inedible. The meals were gross, tasted terrible, and caused me gas and stomach distress. I called the operator to cancel my auto delivery and was told that I would have to pay a $40 penalty and shipping on my first order. I told her that shipping was free, whether or not you had auto delivery and she told me it was nutrisystem policy during cancelation.
I told her I was having an allergic reaction to the peppers in all the dinners and she tried to find meal solutions that did not have peppers, but she could not find any. Not only am I stuck with 3 weeks of meals I cannot eat (and many of them were not what i ordered in the 1st place), but I am being penalized for being allergic to the ingrediants.
I paid 300 dollars for the original shipment and apporx $60 for the penalties of cancellig the autodelivery.

13 months ago, I was told that if I didnt lose weight. I would become a type 2 diabetic. My ideal weight is around 205...I was topping the scale at about 355lbs. I was FAT. Now before I go on with my story. I have read some things here about the commercials and how they are misleading, or offensive? or annoying. Not for anything..If you let a commercial offend you..you have other things to worry about. As for the misleading part..IF it was misleading..do you actually think the lawyers of a publicly traded company would be allowed to air them??
I looked into many thingsfor the money, NOTHING is cheaper than NutriSystem. And there have been MANY comparisons on the web about this..Nutrisystem is the lowest cost out there. After looking into Jenny and WWI found them annoying and expensive. But for only $293.00 a month, it made sense to meadd in the extra $75-100 I spend of the supplemental foods and im still spending a lot less than I used too. And I dont know what some of you are reading..but it DOESNT COST $40 MORE TO CUSTOMIZE AN ORDER!! Take a REAL good look at the STEP 1 STEP 2 page get it yet?
Well I ordered my food 13 months ago..and ok..Its ISNT the greatest food ever made..BUT for what it isit isnt THAT bad.and im pretty picky when it comes to food. As for the customer service experience? I really never had a problem. From the sales rep I dealt with that helped me order, who was also someone that lost a lot of weight on the program (and who I still check in with from time to time) to the counselors ive spoken withto Mary the head dietitian (she gave me a ton of good info and really gave me a lot of good suggestions)
The few times ive had to deal with the client relations department, they were all ok for the most part..some were really nice..some were just..blah..but thats just how some people are Is NutriSystem for everyone? Of course not..there isnt anything out there that is for EVERYONEbut thanks to the program. I am down 142lbs as of this morning. I feel greatI look great..and I am no longer FAT.

The Nutrisystem commercial is extremely loud. There is one commercial in particular with some blonde and a football that comes through the TV full blast to the point that I need to either mute or change the channel. Who do I need to write to for this type of commercial noise pollution to stop going through the TV?
The noise pollution from Nutrisystems commercial being extremely loud is very stressful

I have been on the program since May, and have actually lost about 20 pounds, and this month I was expecting that my usual order would be charged to my card, which is actually my checking account, either on the last day of August or the first day of September. Imagine my surprise when the charge was posted to my account on the evening of the 26th of August, which was, by their own admission, too early, and caused my account to be overdrawn. They cancelled the order, but have given me nothing but attitude and grief about reversing the charges.
I got on a three way call with the worst CS person ever from Nutrisystem and someone at my finanacial institution, who told that all they had to do was call them with the relevant information, but she absolutely refused, saying the it was company policy NOT to phone in these kinds of refunds, but fax only, and after getting an enormous amount of information, the guy from the bank told us both it would take five minutes after they faxed to reverse the charges.
It has now been over three hours and still the money has not been returned to my account. This is a publicly traded company, and I am astonished that they would treat people so badly. I am overdrawn with my bank, I have no idea what my bank will be charging me for being so deeply overdrawn, and I got to pay them to be rude to me. I think they should overhaul their CS department from top to bottom.

I ordered what I thought was a one time one month's supply of their product through their web site. It's a good thing for us that my son told me to make sure we didn't sign up for automatic orders. Sure enough, we had! I called them to cancel and they charged me $51.00 to cancel the automatic order because they said we had received a discount for their awful food. They said it is stated in their terms and conditions that if you cancel you are charged a percentage of your original order. It ended up costing us $400.00 for [food] that I could not eat.
I am retired and on a fixed income. We feel victimized by this company. I would like to find a way to warn people to be careful when ordering from this company.

Now they are going back on that! They suddenly & without any notification have quietly tacked on $50 shipping charges for their AutoShip Customers in Alaska, Hawaii, & Peurto Rico. They said they 'notified' us, but upon emailing amongst ourselves, we found that the majority of us did NOT recieve ANY kind of notifcation! But instead only discovered the charges on our orders by accident when we went in to adjust our menu's & this would have been charged to our credit cards with no notification! I STILL have not recieved any official "notification" from the Co of this change & it is 3 weeks after the fact! This is just ONE of many problem with the Co.
Customer Service is a JOKE! A few people say they had a good exerience, but on the Bulletin Boards, there are HORROR STORIES from many many customers! Obvious blatant errors caused by a disorganized Co who does NOT CARE about it's customers, but only it's profits! People put their orders 'on hold' while they go on vacation, only to return home to find a wet box sitting out on their porch or that animals have ripped open their box! A box that should not have been shipped because someone ignored the "HOLD" request!
A majority of the time, with autoship orders, who get to SELECT their own menu's, they have very frequently seriously screwed up their order! Someone on a Diabetic diet, being sent a 'Regular' Diet, & vegetarians being sent meals with MEAT! The Little 'reward bears' that we get for every 10 lb's lost that are suppose to come automatically in our next box after we have lost 10 lb's 9 times out of 10 they FORGET, & you have to keep on them, to send what you have coming! And now they are starting to CHARGE $10 for you to get said bear, that was an EARNED FREE reward!
When I tried to complain on the Bulletin boards with others from Alaska about this shipping charge, they YANKED my posts because they didn't want newbys to know how poorly they were running this Company! So they yank my posts so the truth won't get out! "Damage Control"! The horror stories go on & on! Yes, you can lose w8 on this diet, but they make it so stressful to deal with them month after month, with horrendous errors constantly & customer service people not appearing to be very trained! One will say one thing & another says "I don't know anything about that"!
We have 'daily click-in' thing that when you have clicked in 50 days in a row, you get $10 off your order! It is advertised on the site, but you have to fight to get it, & those who don't complain have clicks stolen from them more or less. The Site has many BUGS & they keep saying that "IT is working on it" but they haven't fixed anything YET! It's a JOKE! I have never seen a Company run so poorly! They spend all their money on advertising for new clients, but treat the ones they have really badly!
Almost all the Alaskan, Hawaiian & Peurto rican customers are leaving the program due to this shipping fiasco! Their saying that gas costs are up, so they have to up our rates, despite that we were promised FREE SHIPPING when our CONTRACTS began! Very poor business practices! The diet works, altho their are issues with it, but I give the CO an F! I would not recommend them to anyone! I was forced to quit my Nutrisystem program, due to unexpected & unreasonable costs that I was not 'notified' of.

The power of advertising can be an incredible thing! Anyone wanting to lose weight can easily be taken in by the commercials broadcast by Nutrisystem. The meals look great, it sounds convenient, good value for money and the celebrity endorsements sound genuine. I was having knee surgery back in June and figured that the Nutrisystem plan could be a blessing. Being out of action I didnt want to gain weight and also knew I wasnt going to be very mobile, so cooking and shopping was out of the question. Nutrisystem seemed the ideal solution.
I ordered the product back in the beginning of June and figured the $320 or so was pretty decent value for money. It arrived within about four days and my first surprise was how little food there was considering there was five weeks of supplies. My second shock was that none of the food required any refridgeration, which is always a bad sign! I then read the instructions to find that you actually need to supplement the food with salad, fruit and vegetables. Therefore, my first reason for going on the program was pointless as I now knew I would have to still regularly go shopping for food. The value for money also now seemed to be negated since, as most people will now, salad, fruit and vegetables are not the cheapest items to buy.
As for the actual food itself, I cannot begin to describe my disappointment with every single aspect of this diet. The food is absolutely inedible. The portions are very small. The food is tasteless. I experienced numerous stomach issues. Some items are just ridiculous, such as the burger, or the pizzas. Anyone having done this program will have laughed when they created these culinary masterpieces. I actually found myself buying extra fruit, vegetables and salad, knowing that I was tending to eat all of these items and little of the actual Nutrisystem meal. I would say that my food bill for this month ended up being 50% higher than my usual bill.
I actually only lasted a little over two weeks and threw the remaining food in the trash.
Towards the end of June I went to the UK to visit with family. While there I received an e-mail to say that my auto delivery was being dispatched on July 2nd. Maybe I just didnt read the small print, but certainly did not realize I had ordered more than one month of this product. I contacted Nutrisystem to let them know I did not want the second month. They told me to just send the product back and I would get a refund. I explained I was out of the country and could not be there to even accept the delivery. They then said they would cancel the auto shipment and gave me a confirmation number.
I then realized I had been charged for the second month, so contacted customer service. This is when the fun really started and is still going on to this day, about 7 weeks later. Nutrisystem say the shipment was delivered and I have to pay for it. Every answer to any e-mail is just another attempt to delay you in the hope you will eventually just go away. They pass the buck to UPS constantly. If you call, they pass you onto several people just to tell you they will look into things and begin an investigation. For a company that was at the top of Forbes Magazines fastest growing companies of 2007, they have the most inept customer service I have ever had the unfortunate misery of having to deal with.
It has ended up costing me around $650 for two and a half weeks of inedible, stomach churning food, and I use the term food? very reluctantly. I am now experimenting with various frozen diet food varieties from the likes of South Beach, Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice. Each and every one of these products are well worth the money and are far tastier than any of the meals offered by Nutrisystem. Another benefit is that my plate is always empty after one of these meals. With Nutrisystem my garbage disposal worked over time to get rid of left over food. I could never put the stuff in the trash as the stench would attract animals from miles around.
Having experimented with these meals for three weeks, along with buying health bars for snacks and eating oats for breakfast I have lost 14 pounds. My conclusion about Nutrisystem is clear. If you are thinking of trying this product, forget it! Save your stomach and bowels the discomfort and just flush a few hundred dollars down the toilet. Instead, eat a good breakfast, try some of the frozen diet meals I suggest above and try snack bars such as Balance bars or EAS products. Also, try whey protein shakes or shakes sold by EAS, such as Myoplex, excellent products! As for Nutrisystem, thanks very much for taking me for a ride!
Charged twice for only one shipment, so an additional $325. Many stomach complaints. 7 weeks of wasted time trying to get my money back

I sent a shipment in june, they never acknowledge the package, never told me i had 30 days to return it,toni said we ahave a big warehouse it got but by the side someplace and its just siting around somplace, but you are not going to geta creadit for it,because you did not getauthorazation to send it back ,and you do not a have a number for it,she let me talk to her suprevisor whom addmitted she knows her very well.Janet said the same thing as Toni all with understanding anything.they never asked me when i recieved the shipment.they told me they recieved it june 23 and i had 30 days to recieve a creadit,is that right?
THEY STLL HAVE THE PACKAGE,

I expected much more for my money than this. My friends and family can never refer to me as quitting anything I set out to do but this has been the biggest waste of time and money in recent memory. I hear others say I shouldn't complain because this is diet food but the reality is that after doing the research since being on the Nutrisystem diet, the same effect or even better can be achieved by purchasing foods at your local supermarket and even better tasting meals at that.
I was most disappointed at the allure of good food that looked great in pictures and on television even with endorsements from people like Dan Marino and Larry the Cable Guy (my favorite!). I would venture to say that Larry the Cable Guy may have lost 50 pounds on Nutrisystem but I bet a nice paycheck can make anyone say it works with all that good food (yuck) and Git r Done!
The reality is that some items were okay but I should never develop the dread of opening another item wondering if it will give me food poisoning from the way it was packaged that gave me concern due to color, odor, and flavor. I have had food poisoning from a restaurant before and this has some of the same symptoms that I experienced then.
I won't go as far as to say that it is food poisoning but with all of the chemicals in the ingredients list, I doubt the human body is completely able to adapt to such toxins. After further research it is my conclusion to learn lifestyle change from a program like South Beach Diet or similar that can give you the tools to make good choice for healthy living. I now believe that dieting is not as much food related as it is good informed choices through nutrition education as well as healthy live food choices. I had heard this before but am now convinced after this less than satisfying experience of processed-dead-packaged-room-temperature-probably-stored-in-a-warehouse-for-years-food.... whew that was a mouthful but I have learned my lesson. Save your money and invest it in good healthy lifestyle choices education. Sincerely, A Business Owner married father of 3.

Sorry...no complaints here. I've been on Nutrisystem for a month and lost 10 pounds...when you only need to lose 20....that's pretty good for a month. I read all these other complaints about the food being terrible and like dog food....and I can't imagine we're eating the same food. I have only found a couple items I didn't care for....but that's true even if you're eating at McDonalds. Those of you that ate this food and feel sick and have headaches...it's your body's way of withdrawing from all the CARBS and BAD FOOD you've been shoveling in your mouth for years!! LOL!!
Diet food is never as good as all the fattening food you've tasted....but I'm sorry...I look around at all the horrible obesity in the US and I think....hmmm....what's worse...being fat and disgusting....or not eating all my favorite foods...Not a hard decision for me. Once again, the food is not dog food, it's diet food and truly not bad at all. I wonder sometimes if these reviews aren't coming from competitors? It's a simple and easy and HEALTHY diet and the bottom line is...it works.
ALSO, to address the not getting what you ordered....I've never had that problem...my shipment is always here within 2-3 days after it's shipped...I have ALWAYS got the items I ordered...and maybe some of you brain children who are complaining should realize MAYBE those things you are calling substitutions...are actually the FREE FOOD they send you for your FREE WEEK...those items you don't get to choose....BUT, ALAS!! If you don't like them, they are more than happy to send you items in place of them. Come on, people...are we just looking for excuses to be fat?

Several months ago, I also got involved in a futile attempt to use Nutrisystem. I ordered their monthly program and received my first shipment right away. I went on line to place my second order right away because I didn't want to have to worry about having a gap in the food not getting here on time. I had 3 weeks for it to get here. After the first week went by,(mind you, the 1st shipment arrived in 2 days), I called their customer service and was told that the order had been shipped and it should have been received by then. I asked them to check it out and get back to me.
After making many attempts to find out where my order was at, someone finally told me that UPS had sent my order to another state to my previous address. I hadn't lived there in 8 years! I told them that they needed to get it taken care of so that I would not have a gap in my supply of food. They assured me that they would get the order rerouted so that I would have it. Another week goes by and nothing has happened. Finally, I got a phone call from UPS, not Nutrisystem, but UPS and they asked me if I had received my order and I told them that I hadn't. Nutrisystem had put an incomplete address on the package and UPS had researched my name and sent it to my old address.
So I contacted Nutrisystem and they said that they would send out another shipment. I asked them if they had corrected my address and they had not. While I had been waiting, customer service had me fill out yet another form to order the food that I wanted and not get anything that I didn't like. I was eagerly awaiting this shipment. Another week went by and still no food, called Nutrisystem again and low and behold, they had sent it out and when I finally got it, several days after I had run out of food, they had sent me everything that I didn't want and nothing that I had specifically ordered that I did want.
At that point, my husband called and they told him that I could pick and chooses what I wanted to eat out of the shipment until I received the new items to take it's place, but when the NEW items arrived, there were too few and most were ones that I STILL didn't want. I still have that stupid garbage in my pantry as a constant reminder that even a large corporation as large as they are, can and will take advantage of people whenever they choose to. I will NEVER do this again. I am still so angry that I need to deal with it because I have let it affect me. The loss of money and the aggravation was just too much.
The economic problem was that I am disabled and to say money is an issue is to only touch the tip of the iceberg. I was trying to justify the plan by saying that it ONLY costs approximately $10 a day, but they don't say anything upfront about still having to provide several pricy things each day like fruits and vegetables that a person doesn't even think about when you are hearing and reading about their plan that it ONLY costs about $3 a meal, hence $10 a day. NOT TRUE! The physical damage is probably more because it has taken such a toll on me since I had to keep following up on this for about 6 to 8 weeks after I received my first order. I was terribly angry because they acted like it was my fault that I didn't get the order when they had changed it for some reason and it would never have reached me.
They acted like it was my fault that the second order that finally came was full of things like fish meals, which I don't eat fish under any circumstances, and all of their gross meals like that cardboard pizza which when I placed my order wasn't ordered at all. When I called them and told them that the ordered that I had placed was not the one that I received, they said that they weren't showing that I had even placed an order. My order that I received looked more like a combination box that they had been dumping leftovers into for quite a while.

I spent over an hour on the Nutrisystem web site choosing the foods I wanted an agreed to pay extra for this service. The site wouldnot allw me to check out so I called the service line and informed them of the situation. At the time I informed the operator that I did not care to particpate in the program unless she could, in some way, refer to the on line order and work from there. She took my inoformation and was able to call up the order I had placed, she read it off to me and it was accurate. I was pleased and finalized the order.
When the food arrived, it was a standardized menu order, full of foods I did not want. The custome service I had paid for was not fulfilled. When i called customer sevice I was told that there was no record of my custom order and that I had ordered the standar menu! The rep was incredibly rude and condescending. i asked to speak to a manager and she was worse!
I was prepared to cancell the whole thing at this point but... The reason I had committed to this is, I am the owner of a small fitness center and I had recommended this service to a number of my personal training clients. I am a trainer myself and I wanted to a: drop a few pounds and b: sample the program. i did not want to abandone it so easily, though they were more than ready to drop me.
I called back and spoke to another associate who checked back with her manager and proposed that I pick out 7 days of food, which I felt I could do, they would have the rest picked up and a new order would be sent out to me. I then spent another 45 minute to an hor picking out food all over again. My biggest issue was that I had a window of time to try the diet, I did not want to start, only to have to stop it. So here I am 7 days into the diet and out of food, and the package has not come. I placed a call to inquire about the order and was informed that nothing had been sent to me. They showed my order as cancelled! Well... now it is!
I placed the charges ($391 for 28 days!) in dispute and will never, ever again recommend this pathetic service to anyone. There is a company called Sunfair that delivers meals daily, I had a client los a lot of wieght on this program and he said he loved the food. Unfortunately it is far more expensive. We are seeing a great deal of success with Lindora as well, also pricey.
As for the food, I though it was fine. If I were served this food in a restaurant, I would be irate. but what can you expect from pre-packaged food that does not even require refrigeration? Granted, i tried to avoid the things that I knew would be truly nasty.
I was in no way informed that my choices might be substituted based on supply. I would not have ordered if this were the case. Clearly, they know this. My bet is they try to avoid truly customizing orders, and only have a limited ability to do this. They have all of these boxes ready to go, and to customize takes far more man power than they want to use. It is likely very difficult to put an accurate price on this, so the goal is to avoid it whenevr possible. Send the customer a standard package first, see if they complain. if so, lead them on a little more until they accept what they get or quit. Pathetic. I am amazed this company has had the success they have.
I have lost a lot of time. There is no replacing it. I have yet to recieve a refund and don't intend to wait on them to do the right thing. I am disputing the charges.

I have ordered the expensive Nutrisystem program for 3 months. Each month I get food substitutions that I won't eat. I called today to ask for the food I orderd and paid extra since I wanted to choose my own food. It's approximately $40 a month more. I was informed that I had to pay to ship back the food I didn't order. Since I'm paying more to chose food I like, I don't feel I should have to pay to ship back food I didn't order to begin with.
Paid extra for food I wanted instead of going with the plan where Nutrisystem chooses for me, which was approximately $40 a month extra or $120 for the 3 months I've ordered. I keep putting this food I won't eat in food banks. I don't feel Nutrisystem is fair in this practice. I also get subsitutions when I would rather have the out of stock food at a later date than what they send. Their program is expensive enough not to get what I ordered.

I order products from Nutri-system ususally you didn't get all the items your order on line. You often got subsitiutes and I has problems with certain foods I couldn't eat. I often had to return items that were expired by months. This was something that happen too often. I decided to stop ordering. They replaced the expired itmes but every oder I would have this problem. SO, I could no longer trust the products and I begin to felt that all the items were not fresh.
The physical damage was I became physically sick thinking about these old products. I was suspicous about all the food I had in my home and I ended up throwing all my food in the trash. I felt like how honest could they be with continous expired items. I imagined they removed expired labels and replaced them with new labels.

I am very satisfied with Nutri System since I started with them on 3-12-08. I have lost 52 lbs. The food is good (what do you expect its a weight loss program) I tried Jenny Craig years ago. N/S food tastes much better. I have lost this weight with no exercise at all, although I am starting to jog now as the weight loss naturally is much less now, 16 weeks into the plan.
I have never been sick at all on this plan as some have written and the customers service I have received could not have been better. (I made a mistake onmy order when I 1st signed up..my error) Overall, obviously, I am very happy and tell everyone (who asks me) that the reason I so good and so much thinner is due 100% to Nutri System.

When starting Nutrisystem in May, I didn't know what to expect, but have been pleasantly surprised. True, the food is not gourmet, and some items I just cannot eat, but much of it is ok, and a few items are actually good. And on the Nutrisystem site, it provides information on how to return or exchange any unopened food. Although on the autoship program [which I'm on] they do make substitutions, I've still been able to make 3 exchanges so far, totaling about 80 items, and Nutrisystem has sent me exactly what I requested in return.
Sure, it would be difficult to be on this diet long-term [more than about 6 months], but as a jumpstart to losing weight, and a teaching tool for learning and practicing portion control, I say it can be very effective.

I am not complaining. I like the food. I like the people. I have been on for 3 months and yes food is substituted but it says that it may happen. I like some others am losing weight on nutrisystem I know I won't be on it forever. It is a great plan and people should quit complaining or go find something that will work for them!

I had used Nutrisystem in the past a few years ago and the food was awful and made me very ill. I also could not order just what I wanted in the quantities I wanted so I stopped dealing with them. This time after seeing all the commercials I figured the food had to taste better and the service surely had to be improved. So reluctantly I ordered the vegetarian womens plan. I received the first order in April, 2008 and immediately began to identify the foods that were unedible. Since I was on the auto order plan, I immediately customized my order to the few meals that I could stand to eat. Mind you none of it is good but tolerable.
Well I just received my first auto ship order with the custom requests I had made. Not only did they not get the custom part right, but they made substitutes with the nasty food I purposely left out of the future orders. When I called to cancel any future business, the representative was reallly nice, but he said they usually substitute with what you have ordered. I told the poor boy that they obviously did not have what I wanted and that is why the provided substitutes for stuff I did not ask for. I went on to say I would not accept a wrong order from a restaurant or grocery store, why would it be OK for Nutrisystem. With that I asked him to just simply cancel the order which he did promptly.
I think they have a lot of guts to shove the bad sellers into orders as substitutes. Shame on Nutrisystem and for all these sham systems. I will say that I lost 6 of the 15 pounds I wanted to lose simply because I couldn't eat this.

In response to your many complaints regarding Nutrisystem, I have to register a good recommendation for the company. I have been on the program since 5 March and lost 49 lbs on the diet. It is an easy diet to stick to and the food, although not perfect, is fine for the short haul. I have another 51 lbs to lose.
Yes, the diet is high in sodium, but eaten properly, it has not resulted in any water retention. It requires a fluid intake like many diets although this seems odd to some folks that think fluids will cause retention vice assist in losing the weight. The food varies from bland to spicy and does not taste all that bad. It is a mindset that some folks believe since it is not similar to their normal diet, then the taste is not to be liked. If there is a particular food that is not palatable, then choose something different with a custom order. Very few times has my order been changed, and usually only if I order above 4-5 of a given meal.
The good part of the diet is that you don't have to go to time consuming meetings or pay the high cost of weekly doctor visits to follow the diet. It does require a commitment on your part to lose the weight effectively. There is a wonderful network of folks similar to yourself and counselors that can help you with any issues...and just a key stroke away. The web site provides all the tools that you need.
Yes, this diet is expensive, but with the results that I have encountered, it is worth the price to lose excess weight and hopefully in the future to become more healthy without the aid of some of my medications. Like with all diets, it is a major lifestyle change and it means giving up some of the foods we really enjoy.

I have been unable to access my nutrisystem online account for several months and have been receiving repeated emails informing me that they were not able to ship my orders due to problems with my credit card. Being unable to login I was not able to remedy this conveniently.
On June 3rd I contacted a rep via the online chat and was told that there was a problem with my account and that it would be reported to IT for remedy within 48hrs.
On June 12th still being unable to login I called and waited 45 minutes to speak to a rep. After researching, she confirmed that there was an issue with my account. She said that due to a server migration my account was inaccessible as it was one of the accounts that hadn't been migrated. I asked when this would be fixed and she said that she didn't know.
I later received a voicemail from a supervisor who informed me that my account would not be accessible until July 13th!
I am now considering other options, although I've been previously satisfied - not being able to order or access my account for over six months is ridiculous. The fact that it will take an additional month to fix? Unacceptable.
Goodbye Nutrisystem

Both my wife and I have used this product for more than 6 months. We conduct our business with them via their web page. Our accounts on this site show our account history, delayed shipments, menu change etc.
We were going on a 3 day vacation on June 7,8 and 9th. My wife had a pending delivery from NutriSystem scheduled to be shipped June 9th. On June 5th she contacted NutriSystem via the web page and postponed the order until July 7 2008. As in the past they responed on her web page that the order has been postponed and will be shipped on July 7th. She copied the reply. (Which also is logged in our account history).
When we return on June 10th we see they have pulled 277 dollars from our account and have shipped the previously cancelled order. When we go to my wifes account information her entire history has been removed. (Over 6 shipments). When I go to my account history, my information has likewise been removed. (2 shipments). My wife calls them to have our money refunded and the shipment cancelled. She is told that they will attempt to intercept the shipment and when they have they will refund our money in 4-5 days.
On June 11th the shipment shows up at our house. My wife calls again and is told as soon as they have a truck sent to pick it up and it is on the truck, they will refund our money in 4-5 days. At this point I get involved. I do not understand the ethics invovled. They keep calling this shipment our shipment and we had nothing to do with it. They, not being authorized, went into our accoount and took 277 dollars.
I called them and after 30 minutes with a gentlemen named Wesley, was put through to a Supervisor named Madelin (emp # 3788) I explained what has been mentioned above and asked why is our money which was taken without permission, being held up by NutriSystem while they attempt to cover an asset which we never asked for. Madelin continued to hammer home that they will not refund our money until they have their product. I again attempted to make it known to her that I do not have their product. They have always had their product and the problem is that they stole our money.
In all of this they never mentioned a reason for why both my wife and my account histories were deleted. They say they have no record of our delay shipment request, and since they deleted our histories, now either do we. We do have the date and time of the delay shipment request, along with their reply that it has been noted and the new ship date is 7/07/08. For now I am going to see when they send a truck. My bank (the payment was made with a debit card) can not contest the payment until the money is transferred. (Right now it is pending)

Placed a 30 day order and when it arrived there were very few items that I had actually ordered. The total amount was correct; however, the items were wrong. They stated that sometimes the warehouse is out of certain items and they put in the most common ones as replacements. In addition, I had two scrambled egg packages that were spilled in the box due to them only having a heavy paper lid.
After three days I had eaten 4 items which tasted awful and returned the entire box. I followed all the proper channels and did exactly as they had instructed and not only did I pay $42.94 for return shipping of which is not reimbursed but I then received a credit of only $193 when my original purchase price was $293. When I contacted them their inept customer service rep stated that I only returned 9 dinners out of 28 and that is why I have lost $100.
I explained that it was incorrect and I had only eaten 4 items and none of them were dinners! She stated that I needed to fax my proof of receipt along with a photocopy of the checklist of items and after I explained that I had been told to include the checklist in the box she said "well, yes you should have done that but you should have also made a photocopy for yourself". What a bunch of crooks! I lost $42.94 for return shipping and they have cheated me out of $100 on my return.

Nutrisystem - Day 70. I have followed the Nutrisystem program exactly as laid out for 10 weeks. During that time, I have dropped 28 pounds, with a goal of dropping 7 more. According to my doctor, this is a reasonable and safe weight loss rate. Maybe it doesn't work for others, but it works for me.

I order a months worth of food, only to to find that the food was absolutley horrible. Everyting is made for bomb shelters! I called and was advised to send the food back before the 30 day window. The last day would have been March 28th. Nutrisystem is in PA and I live in NJ. We sent back the entire amount of food, boxed and lists made of all the food. It was sent on the 21st of March. It arrived on the 30th which was a Monday.
The 28th was a Friday. I called and advised them that it had been postmarked for the 21st and that it was not our fault the shipment arrived almost an entire week later. We gave plently of time for the shipment to arrive. They said too bad and refuse to send back any refund. So now I am out several hundred dollars and the food. I have been unsuccesful in reaching anyone of authority and need some help! I have never seen a business run this way and the CEO Michael J. Hagan, has a lot to answer for.

I decided after watching the infommercials about Nutrisystem with the wonderful endorsements from Tony Orlando and many others that I should give this a try. After one week of trying to eat this garbage, I called to let them know that I was returning the rest. After the first day I knew I was in trouble and after 4 days I could no longer stand it. There was one meal, the roast beef with vegetables that did me in. When I opened it the smell was so bad like opening a can of dog food. I tried to eat it not wanting to be a pansy but I couldn't. After that I had to get out the air freshener, open the door and take out the rest of the meal to the garbage.
There were really no side effects other than the complete feeling of being sick to my stomach after eating each meal. Besides the awful meals you still had to provide proteins, fats and dairy as called for in the menus. So over all very disappointed with this program. It's a good thing they have a 30 day money back guarantee or I probably wouldn't have tried it at all. Programs like this should be stopped because of false advertising because it's not a doable program.

I think the public needs to know that the Nutrisystem commercials are very deceptive. Their latest ad with Jillian Barbari is a great example. I watch her on a local morning TV show a few days a week. The before picture they show of her in the commercial was taken when she was pregnant! I even saw her in the same dress on the morning show -- and she was pregnant at the time! Of course, she lost a lot of weight after her baby was born! This is very deceptive and misleading.
Also, I don't think the commercial showing Larry the Cable Guy is above board, either. I tried them for three months a year ago. The food was awful, and it was like torture to think of my next meal eating their food. I actually could choke down two items! I lost ten pounds in three months and could have done that on my own cutting out the wrong foods.
People also need to realize that the Nutrisystem plan costs over $300 per month, and they tend to forget that they still have to buy food for the rest of the family. This just adds a much bigger burden to middle class Americans who, if they look at their overall budget, quickly discover, they cannot afford Nutrisystem. And especially so when it doesn't work that well and their food tastes like cardboard with watery tomato sauce on it!

The food they send is no better than garbage. Not as advertised. All the food you need is included. Wrong. Seggested meal plan includes at least the same amount as they ship to be supplemented.
Made me sick almost to the point of vomiting.

My wife wanted to try the system and she felt it would be too hard for her if she had to also cook for me. I agreed to join her as I need to lose a few lbs. We didn't get what we ordered, lot of substitutions. The meal are very hard to eat, all smell and taste the same. After a week we decided there had to be a better way. Tried to contact them several times and was put on hold for long periods and then just got disconnected. Sent them an e-mail telling them not to send any more and that future shipments would be returned.
We are out $587.44 and we have had gas from the first bite. I felt hungry all the time, ate the food because we had nothing else to eat and no money if we wanted to get something edible.

When I first started using the product I had severe gas and a constant headache for 2-3 days. I called and was told that the headache was probably due to cutting back on calories. I discontinued using the product on a daily basis about 3 weeks later. I would occasionally use an item in my diet. On Feb. 22, 2008 for lunch I had the tortolini in red sauce. About 30 minutes later I had severe pains in my stomach. I went to the ER later that day as the pains did not go away. Tests were done and everything came back normal. My family doctor believes it was the tortolini. I can only assume that is what it was from since I had problems when I first started using the products.

I believe that Nutrisystem is falsely advertising it can help nursing mothers with losing the baby weight after having their children by sponsoring and making commercials with Tori Spelling and Jillian Barnerie Reynolds who promote using the system while still being able to nurse. Nutrisystem doesn't allow their agents to sign up women who are nursing but they still promote it through their celebrity spokespersons. They have very conflicting messages.
Very disappointing for women who are looking for the answers to lose the baby weight and can be very harmful for those who go ahead and do it because they were lead to believe by the commercials that they could still do the program no matter what Nutrisystem's fine print says.

I have read and heard good and bad about NutriSystem. So I decided to try it for myself. The food is packaged in such a way so as not to need refrigeration. Which is very handy. The down side is that the flavors tend to blend together, as in any unfrozen/refrigerated preparation. The convienence much outweighs the negatives in this instance for me. I do not have the luxury of having a freezer everywhere I go. But there is a microwave available almost everywhere these days. These are no gourmet meals, but in my opinion they are as good, if not better, than cheap frozen dinners, such as Budget. I personally have not tried the prepare yourself items, such as the pudding, so I cannot speak for those. But the deserts are tasty, the portions are sufficient and you are supposed to eat snacks provided, as well as, fresh fruits and veggies. If you pace yourself throughout the day, this should be sufficient. Part of the reason most of us are overweight is that we eat too much to begin with. This program is designed to help us learn how to portion our food properly. Well this program gets my thumbs up. While following the program I lost weight and learned how to portion food properly. I did not want nutritionally and it was convenient enough to stick to.

I ordered the 2 month auto-delivery for Nutrisystems. I experienced a lot of gas and diarrhea. Diarrhea to the point of it being uncontrollable! In their advertising no where do they mention the possibility of uncontrollable diarrhea. I do realize that increasing fiber can create gas and diarrhea. I thought maybe I was sick but when I went on the internet and read all the other complaints about diarrhea I realized it is the food. I am an RN, so I am not an ignorant person. The reason to go on the diet was viewed as an EASY way to lose weight, and have my clothes fit better. But when you have to take a day off from the diet food, because you are so tired of having diarrhea, it seems kind of ridiculous. They really should have some kind of disclaimer similar to medication what the diet may cause. Uncontrollable diarrhea is a definite side effect of nutri/system food.
None, but I will not reorder after my initial trial period. No wonder why they push the trial period, because so many people drop it.

I am so glad I read this site before I ordered Nutri-System. From watching the commercials, I thought maybe it had changed, but apparently not. About 15 years ago, I enrolled in a Nutri-System clinic that opened in Flint, MI, and the food was so horrible I got out of it. I recall that my granddaughter saw me fix one of the meals, and when she looked at it, she asked me if that was dog food. Actually, I don't believe a dog would eat that food. I see why so many people are trying to sell their Nutri-System food on E-bay. Buyer beware!

Ordered the Nutrisystem Advanced New for 2008 program, which included 56 (2 weeks) of free food. I did NOT get the food that I ordered. And the 7 days of free food that came with the order is food I can not (allergic), or will not (do not like), eat. When I called to complain, I kept getting recorded menus to choose from until I tried other numbers. When I FINALLY was connected to a real person, I was told that I could exchange the items I didn't want for ones that I did want (even though they had already SUBSTITUTED items for the ones I ordered!), or I could return everything within 30 days in the original packaging. Of course with each option, I would have to PAY FOR SHIPPING! The food is some kind of processed substance, high in sodium, tastes like starched cardboard, and comes in portions smaller than what I would feed my fish! And as I write this, I've been on hold around THIRTY minutes, waiting, once again to speak to a person so that I can cancel future automatic shipments.
I am out $293.72 which I will now have to pay finance charges on, as I had to put it on my credit card. I now have to contact my credit card company to ensure no future automatic charges are added, as I am still waiting (around FORTY minutes now) to talk with someone to cancel future orders. And IF I get through, I cannot trust them to honor my directions to CANCEL my program.

I ordered the second month online. Two weeks later we received an additional order. I called, and was told to return product for a refund. That was about three months ago that we returned the product. They didn't refund the $295.00 that was automatically deducted from my checking account. We are no longer clients. We didn't like the food at all. My wife and I now buy the Weight Watchers meals at the store. The food is tasty. She has lost 30 lbs, and I 12 lbs.
Loss of almost $300.

This food is AWFUL. The smell alone is disgusting. What a complete waste of money. Sure, some weight has been lost, but only because of LACK of eating, not because this stuff actually works. I think their ads are a hoax and they should be run out of business for false advertising.

I read your critiques of the Nutri-System diet. I have been on the program for about 10 days now and have lost 10 lbs. I have been on many diets before and don't find it more expensive than say buying the Weight Wathcrs for instance and or their meals and supplements. I was alos on a program at a gym and the whey protenin powdersw and bars were tasteless and expensive.
I have found for the most part the food is better than comparable low calorie food such as Lean Cusine or South Beach Diet
Particularly Lean cuisine is so loaded with garlic and other harsh spices to give the flavor that you don't get, because after all fat is flavor, that their foods to me are unpalatqble. By and large, so far, the meals though small, are as tasty as the competition in my humble opinion.

I started on the diet a few months. I have actually lost and kept off about 15 pounds. However, this whole program is misleading. You do not get all of the food you need to be on the program. You still have to buy the fruits, veggies and other items. Most of the food is awful and has them same aftertaste no matter what you may be eating. The commercials talking about the delicious meals are just wrong. I still have most of the lunch entrees in my pantry because they are pretty much inedible. Plus I noticed that some of the food causes a sharp increase in flatulence. A little extra bonus there. Bottom line, the lean cuisines, etc. taste better and probably cost about the same. Can't recommend this to anyone who remotely enjoys food.
None. Just fed up with false advertising.

I was convinvced by the sales ad on TV to try Nutrisystem as a weight loss alternative. I have had a triple heart bypass and the information regarding their salt content was not revealed until I received the merchandise. I have used their product now for two days and have noticed an uncomfortable feeling in my chest which reminds me of eating too much salt. I will be contacting my cardiologist today and seek his professional opinion on this diet plan.

The food is revolting. I have had to throw away food because of the taste and smell. Also, substitutes were items I did not like, either, because of taste or smell.
I have actually gained two to three pounds because of all of the water gain--probably from the high salt content.

No problems with the diet. Food is okay, convenient!

The food was horrible and so many of the products tasted the same. Many times my orders were substituted as they advised that they were out of stock or low. The items that you had to prepare yourself (ex pudding etc) turned out like school experiments . like glue. Sometimes when I opened the packages and tried to cook the smell and taste would send me to the restroom. Couldn't keep down or once I did they went right through me. I lost the weight in the beginning but just couldn't stomache the food. Their ads with celebrities are put ups or at the most pay offs to sucker people into joining. When you go off you bounce right back with the ability to taste real food.

My husband and I ordered a month's supply of meals on Jan. 7. The order arrived in 2 days. I was excited! Until I opened the boxes. Balanced meals? Not till you go shopping for proteins, fruits and veggies! Small small portions, dried soups. A 3.42 oz. flatbread pizza costs $5.33. You have to spread the sauce and cheese on yourself. You have to call to get a return authorization to return the meals. You can't get through on the phone, I was on hold for 15 minutes and then was cut off, tried again, 30 minutes on hold then got cut off, third try and I was on hold for 25 minutes and finally got through. I have my authorization numbers to return the packages, now I wonder how long they will use my money before it's credited back to my account? It's just $563.67! Not happy and can buy frozen diet meals at Walmart for much less!

I am cancelling my NutriSystem subscription. The food is unpalatable, extremely salty and they often substitute my pre-selected menu with other foods they choose. Most of the food is revolting to me. The minute I open the package the smell is overpowering and I have to force myself to eat it. I cannot believe those commercials where the supposed customers extoll the virtues of the program and the delicious meals! I cannot imagine anyone thinking these meals are delicious!
I have paid a lot of money for this food and have tried so hard to stick to the plan. I am so disheartened that it hasn't worked because I cannot stomach the food.

Nutrisystem food is totally unacceptable even with even low standards of food quality. They should not be allowed to sell their synthetic, salty, full of preservatives food unless they make radical changes to the taste, appearance and overall quality. I think the only way that this progmam may work for weight loss is by making consumers hate food altogether. Utterly unacceptable. A complete loss of $300, which is unacceptable.

My wife wanted to try and lose some weight so she ordered Nutrisystem. I used the Bill Me Later system to purchase the food. I made and initial payment of $50. My wife tried 5 or 6 entrees and didn't like the food. I prepared what was left in the box for shipment back to Nutrisystem, and another box of food arrived. So I sent both boxes back. This was in a time frame of about 3 or 4 weeks. The Bill Me Later account was credited for one box of food. I tried to contact both Nutrisystem and Bill Me Later for several months trying to resolve getting a partial credit for the first box of food, but only received limited responses from my emails. I called a couple of times, and they could not find any record of my account.
To make a long story short, after 5 or 6 months of this (and I haven't paid on the account because I firmly believe I didn't owe anything), I finally got an email response telling me that the first shipment was returned after the 30-day grace period. It took 6 months for them to tell me this! If Nutrisystem would have told me this after the first month, I would have understood and case would be closed. As it is, the original $278 ballooned to $385, and for me to keep my credit rating from going south, I had to deal with a collection agency from Bill Me Later. Is there any justice?
I'm out $385 and a possible hit on my credit report; plus the original food that am now having to pay for is back with NutriSystem so they can resell it to some other unsuspecting person. I hope they like the food better than my wife. My strong request to anyone thinking about purchases from NutriSystem, Think Long And Hard About Anything Like This Going Wrong, Especially If You Are Planning To Use A Third Party Like: Bill Me Later.

Where do I file a complaint on a Nutrisystem commercial that is very disrespectful to those who are overweight? I mean this lady flat out says that no man would look at a heavy person twice. Some people are fat just because they are. Others are due to thyroid problems, etc. Her two sons and husband's pictures were on the commercial also. One son was overweight and the hubby had some extra luggage as well. How did that make them feel? I was very upset when I heard this, as I am sure many others were, also. We cannot say GOD anymore or someone gets offended, but yet its OK for her to degrade every heavy person on a commercial. Where do I file a complaint on this TV commercial?
I feel very disrespected and degraded.

I could not eat the food and called to get a return number and address to return it. The address was bogus; I sent it USPS. No one can find the package, and Nutrisystem says they didn't recieve the package or cannot tell me without a confirmation number. I gave them the only number the USPS gave me, and they said it has to be a 20 digit number. I don't know where the box is of the lousy food I couldn't eat! It made me feel light headed. It cost 25.00 to send it back, but they say I will never get a refund.
I am out $299.00 plus shipping of $25.00. They gave me a bogus address to send it to in Kansas City, Kansas!

If you see the Nutrisystem meals, you would understand the complaints. When I called on my second month to place the cancellation (because I forgat to call earlier), the operator asked me the reason to cancel. I asked, "have you tried them?" And her answer was, "No, but I heard they are pretty bad." The TV dinners look like dog food but with a worse smell. Some of the snaks (150 calories) are ok but I can find similars in the grocery store with less calories (90) I am thinking about giving the box of meals to charity but the less fortunate may not like it eather.

When I received my order from Nutrisystem, more than 10% of the items I had custom-ordered had been substituted. The food they did send me was marginal at best, although I was not expecting gourmet food. I decided to send back my order because the cost of the program plus the cost of the extra groceries was just too expensive for the quality of the program. I called customer service to return my program and they gave me an RMA number to write both on the packaging slip and on the outside of the box, which I did. They gave me an address to send the package to, and told me to send it either UPS or USPS. I decided to send it through the USPS. I got delivery confirmation on the package and was notified that the company received the package on November 5.
I called customer service to see when I could expect credit to my account and was told to fax a copy of my receipt from the USPS and a list of all the food I returned. Blanch told me that since I sent my package with the USPS, my return would not be processed until I faxed these things. She said if I would have sent it UPS I would not have had to do this. Had they told me this I would have simply sent it UPS and saved this headache. If I had not called I do not know if I would have ever received a credit. Now I have to pay to fax these papers. The time, energy, and extra money it will cost me to receive a credit for a package that they already have at their warehouse is ridiculous.

I ordered 4 weeks of Nutrisystem and 1 week free. I asked if this was good for a diabetic; they said there is a special package for diabetics. I received order that said "diabetic menu"-- most lunches and dinners are over-spiced, some are completely inedible, and after 2 weeks have lost no weight. They claim that the food, in order to be preserved, has to have more sodium and spice. It's disgusting.

I received my food package and started the program 5 days ago. How I regret it. Most of the food is horrible. The breakfast and desert are not bad. As for the lunch and dinners, they are totally disgusting. I believe this is probably because the food comes in a vaccum sealed package (not frozen) and thus needs too much preservatives.
I tried to keep going after my first day because I thought I would get used to it, but after the 3rd day I was I realized I can get the same amount of calories with Lean Cuisine and it tastes much better.

I ordered vegetarian diet from Nutrisystem and received Silver food.....This food was picked up by UPS, and I reordered Vegetarian diet. I received 28 chicken noodle soup, 28 packages vegetable fajitas and 28 cinnamon chocolate bars. I called, and the person insisted that this is what I ordered: not true. The CHICKEN SOUP doesn't sound vegetarian to me! According to person I talked to, this had been substituted. I was so angry I canceled any future food and will donate this to the food bank. They did offer to pay for it to be sent back -- but I declined, so I will pay and donate.
Just very upset at their stupidity and nonchalant attitude.

I have a similar experience to the one posted on your website. I placed an order with the Company and got replacement items for 33 out of 140 items or about 25%. Their substitutions were especially aggregious. I ordered 1 of an item and got 12. Another item I ordered 6 of and got 18. They ought to be forced to limit the amount of substitutions they can make without prior approval. Five percent would be reasonable but not 25%.
They promised a refund but said I would have to pay for the return shipping. I imagine they will issue a refund for their product but not the $16.00 for outbound shipping. So I will be out of pocket twice that amount at a minimum for their mishandling of my order.

After seeing the commercials, my husband and I decided to give the plan a shot and ordered one regular plan and one men's plan. I chose the pick your own food plan, but over 40% was substituted, mainly with cereals that I can easily purchase at a fraction of the cost. Nutrisystem was unimpressed with my complaint and no corrections were sent.
My plan was also missing the intro packet and checklists, so had to wait to get those to start. We also had to ship back the diabetic plan that was shipped in error instead of the men's plan. We had thought the men's plan would have entrees more appealing to men, but the food was the same as the regular plan.
Once we finally got the products, we started and gave the plan every chance for success. I was actually starting to lose weight, but the food was so horrendous that after a couple of weeks, we had eaten everything we were willing to choke down.
When I tried to cancel by email, Nutrisystems tried to tell me I had to speak to a counselor by phone in order to cancel. I replied that I had signed up via internet, ordered via internet, requested corrections via internet, and had every intention of cancelling via internet unless they could show me in writing where I agreed to speak to ANYONE in person.
Overall, the plan was labor intensive and most of the food was inedible.

I love the nutrisysyem. It has helped me loss weight and lower my blood pressure. Why complain, if you don`t like the food don`t byt it. I agree some food is not good, but most of it is. And when I was sent subitutes, All I had to do was call. and they sent what I orderd, and I got to keep the other food. Nitrisystem, I Love you

Ordered Nutrisystem because of the commercials on TV. The first meal of roast beef was horrible, the roast looked like a block of wood and tasted about as bad. Cereal is ok but such a small amount, most of the snacks are soy and taste horrible, like eating cardboard. Tuna was awful, runny mess that a cat would not eat, it was suppose to be tuna salad, I poured it out of the bag and the smell was nauseating. The rest of the order is still in the box, they said I could not return it I had waited too long. Also some of the snack bags were open and the contents had spilled out in the box.
I would not recommend this to anyone, when you add salad and fruit and vegetable to the nutrisystem meals it can become very costly. Best way to lose weight is to eat right and make it a life time change. Nutrisystem is not something that can be tolerated for a life time, it would take a strong stomach to use it even for a month.
I am still paying for something that I could not possible use. I am on a fixed income and it is hard to make payments on something that is still in a box. I only want Nutrisystem to take the product back and not make me continue to pay for something I cannot possibly use.

I agree 100% with the results you got with Nutrisystem diet. It was the most horrible meals I've ever eaten. I tried it for two montrhs and I still have over 2/3 of it left. My dog will eat almost anything, but he will not touch the remains. I'm the same weight bu the way.

I started Nutrisystems last month and checked with my doctor after a huge box arrived. He created a diet for me and told me not to use the products, but I can't find a way to cancel the contract. The next box is coming Oct14. It is easy to get in but next to impossible to get out. Help.
I'll pay the first month for being stupid, but I've tried to leave messages in print and have received no reply. The customer service is sly and never gives you an opportunity to get out. Please help me. The product has too much salt and items that must be fake or you would need a refrigerator. I feel like a fish on a hook.

I ordered Nutrisystem for my husband and myself, and told the woman on the phone I wanted one month's worth of food for each of us. The food was inedible, but we tried to stick it out. A second month's worth of food arrived for me three weeks later, and when I called about this, they told me I was on their auto delivery program which I was never told about or requested. I wanted to send the food back and called five different times to do this. I was given the number to UPS to deal with this who in turn told me I needed a special call ticket placed on the box for them to pick it up at Nutrisystem's expense. I explained this to the people at Nutrisystem on three seperate phone calls, but was again given the number to UPS, then one time put thru to UPS who again told me I needed this special call ticket. I finally sent the food back requesting the costs I incurred to do this. They are refusing to pay me back for this charge and further more say I should see a credit for the food I returned in a month or so. I still need to be credited for $293+ worth of food they received on Sept 14, and the $17.19 for sending the food back via UPS. They are claiming I set up the auto delivery which is untrue. I was never told about this option. I spoke to one supervisor who again refuses to reimburse me for the shipping costs and when I requested to speak to a manager above her, I was placed on hold for over five minutes, and when she came back she said no one was available and she would call me back later. I wonder if this company is placing people on autodelivery without their knowledge to sell more food, in hopes they won't send it back?

On August 31st I ordered via phone a months worth of meals and snacks, along with a free weeks worth of food that was included in the price of the order. The order's total (shipping was free) was $297.32.
Upon receiving the boxes of product, I tried a lunch of beef stew which tasted like I imagine bad dog food would taste, and sampled a bite from 12 of the snacks, all of which were stale, broken and tasted absolutely horrible. The chocolate tasted like ex-lax squares, the snack cakes dry and old, the popcorn stuck together and stale, all inedible.
Nutrisystem advertises 3 meals a day plus snacks for less than $10.00 per day. They also guarantee satisfaction and a no hassle return policy. I also noticed that the meals were sodium laden and very high cholesterol for all of them. I can't eat that unhealthy even if the meals weren't vile to begin with.
I packaged up all of the remaining food products which was almost everything, including the weeks worth of free food and snacks, a cd that was included in with the order and all literature. The box weighed 36 pounds - what it weighed when I received it - and was shipped back via Fed Ex for which I paid $25.00 in shipping charges. The tracking number indicated that the package had arrived on Sep. 10th.
I checked my credit card on the 14th and noticed a refund for the amount of $23.66. I was sick. I phoned their customer service line. Indeed they did receive the package and indeed it did weigh 36 pounds. The woman said she would put a message in the computer to amend the refund amount. I have also sent a minimum of 7 email requesting a break down in price for the sampled snacks and the one lunch that I tried, but they refuse to give me any breakdown, will not give me a refund amount, and keep sending the same form e-mail just saying that a refund will be issued to the method of payment that the order was paid for.
I am frantic. They are definitely the big giant corporation and I'm the little consumer, but I don't understand how they can get away with things like this. The $25.00 I had to spend to return the product far outweighs their cost of the snacks and 1 lunch that I sampled trying to find SOME redemption in their rancid, broken product that they sent to me.

I Customized my order and still they substituted meals. I told them I am diabetic and am in a low salt diet but when the food got here is unedible. Some do not have an expiration date on it and I do not dare to eat it. Their customer dept. have not given me any satisfation and the package is too huge for a handicapped person to take to the post office.
I am out of $279 for the first month. Fortunately I was able to cancel the first week. They are unable to give me the money back until they receive the package.

I have been on the Nutrisystem diet for 3 weeks now and have had horrible stomach pains and bloating. I have loss of appetite and have stopped the diet. After stopping the diet I begin to be back to normal within 5 days.

I joined the Nutri System Program in 2006. After paying for some orders, I found that I could no longer use the products. The boxes of food (which is NOT perishable) came once a month automatically and my credit card was charged each time for $278.00. I returned 3 UNOPENED boxes of products to Nutri System. I was only given credit for one box. Therefore, NutriSystem has two months worth of product AND $756.00 of my money.

I had ordered some food. After receiving the second month of food, I decided I did not want it. I called to see if I could return it since it had been past 30 days and most places have some type of policy. The man I spoke with said that it would be fine for me to return it and gave me the phone number to UPS so that I could schedule a pick-up. After returning the food & waiting several weeks, I called to see when my money would be returned. They said that I had returned it past their 30 day return policy and that they had no record of the phone call where I spoke with the man who told me it would be okay to return and still receive my money back. They would not be refunding my $293.72 and they would not be returning my food.
They offered me nothing (even speaking with a manager). There was not even a courtesy call to tell make sure I understood that not only would I not be receiving my money back, but that the food I returned would be destroyed and offer me the option of having it returned to me (even if I were to pay the shipping).

The so called NEW products and old foods with new ingredients that are offered by this company have literally made me quite ill. I found first the taste and texture to be less than pleasing and I did use their system a year or so ago before surgery and thought it would be okay again. However, within a few days of trying the foods (I could only actually eat 3 or four meals before giving up due to taste)I vomited for a couple of days and then found I couldn't eat anything.
The smell of coffee, bacon and eggs and basically anything made me nauseaus (who doesn't love the smell of breakfast?)and I have spent the last 12 days in bed and have lost over 10 pounds, not a good way to lose weight. I guess their foods did make me lose weight, but the wrong way. I am unable to see my own doctor as he is on vcation, but I am almost certain NutriSystem foods will be what has caused my illness and I certainly hope is is nothing very serious; then I will not only be ticked off more, but I will feel like a jerk for trying to take the easy way out to lose weight.
I have yet to receive any response from anyone at the company except a oh you poor thing from the girl with whom I cancelled my future orders with.

I was appalled at the amount of sodium in the "Female-over40" Nutrisystem food plan that I ordered from QVC. As a registered medical technologist, I know that most of the people on sodium restricted diets are over the age of 40.
Surely the professional dieticians in the Nutrisystem company know this.
I'm out $200, but was smart enough to throw some foods away and not re-order.

I ordered Nutrisystem on March 18, 2007. The food was delivered to me about 7 days later. I have never seen so many powdered entrees in my life. Not at all what I expected. Powdered eggs, powdered mac and cheese, powdered soups all in containers as those ramen noodles come in. The taste of the food is horrible. I opened a dinner entree labeled chicken and dumplings...I feel like I had poured a jar of stage 3 baby food. It was so nasty I took one bite and threw it in the garbage.
Today I thought I try eating another entree because I already spent the money on this and I opened meatloaf and mashed potatoes and it was aweful. Their caramel and chocolate bars taste like they have alcohol in them. The only thing I liked was their lunch chocolate graham bar.
I chatted with one of the counselor's to see if I could return some of these unopened items and replace them I was hoping for the lunch barsbut was told that if you wait more than 30 days you can not exchange or return any items. So I guess I'm stuck with this nasty food. How is that for standing behind a product!. I guess most people order the foods based on the commercials and realistically the food entrees are items most people would not normally eat so you would have to stay on nutrisystem forever not to gain the weight back.

The food is HORRIBLE!!!! I started on Jenny Craig and switched to Nutrisystem because it was about half the cost, I can see why. Everything I tried was so bad, I ended up just throwing it away . I would not recommend this to anyone. Jenny Craig has way better food. Its worth the extra money.

I found the food terrible. I tried to send back my second shipment but they wouldn't accept it! I am near 70 years of age and can't really afford that loss of almost three hundred dollars for an unopened box of awful, so-called food.

Like other posters, I received my NutriSystem, only to find that the packing slip didn't remotely resemble what I ordered, and what was actually in the box didn't remotely resemble what on the slip. They just filled the box with the stuff that wasn't moving. What a total waste of time and money! Don't do it.
Wasted money. Wasted Time.

In 2005 I was in the program for about a month. With my first order, I got what I ordered. After that, the substitutions escalated with each order. Their policy of substituting without notifying is unacceptable.
I thought the dinner and lunch foods were mostly terrible. They had good cereals, snacks, and pizzas, but that's it. The thought of eating meat that isn't fresh or frozen is disgusting. Most of the meals were drenched in a gravy to preserve it.
In the early 1990s, NutriSystem had storefronts where I could see and choose the food. Also back then, the food was much better. I was very disappointed with NutriSystem's food this time around.

The first time we joined Nutrisystem, we were surprised at the number of substitutions. We tried a couple and found them unpalatable. Customer service was friendly, courteous, and had the substitutions picked -up and new selections delivered free.
This time, we had over 1/3 of our meal selections substituted. When we called customer service, the woman first denied Nutrisystem had substituted anything, then said we had to accept the substitutions. She finally gave me a return number (for one of our orders) and told us to ship the stuff back.
It cost over $16 to ship the substitutions back to Nutrisystem. It could be two to four weeks before we receive our new food. I am afraid this is it for Nutrisystem, a company with which we were previously delighted.

After using about half of their products I opened a Thick Crust cheese pizza and found blue/green mold on the pizza crust. I let NutriSystem know that I could no longer trusted the quality of their products and ask to send the rest back for a refund. I was told I was past 30 days--too late, too bad. Also, there was no lot number/use by date on the bad package and some other packages I checked after finding the mold.
I lost my money on the remainder of the uneaten products.

Your commercials are the worst taste I have ever seen on TV.
I suggest every employee of Nutrisystem go home and tell their significant other that they would be less disgusting if they lost a few pounds.
And that trophy wife wearing a ribbon arund her ***** hair reallyl is disgusting.
My fingers are sore from switching channels each time your commercial interferes with daytime TV programs.
I hate you.

I do not recommend Nutrisystem to any that is trying to lose weight. I saw the commercial on QVC, and they made the food look so good, tasty, and large portions. But when I got my order the portions were very small and the food is horrible. I mostly got pasta dishes and they were nasty. I tried to change my order and they refused to. I wasted a lot of money like $400.00 on this product and I didn't even lose weight. Please those people out there that are trying to lose weight, don't waste your money on Nutrisystem. I would haved spent less money and lost more weight joining a gym.

My husband and I ordered the NutriSystem diet for a month and canceled our order after throwing away 50% of what we ordered. We saw QVC selling Nutrisystem and they really made the food look good and the portion size Large. It taste horrible and we ordered from Nutrisystem.com because of free shipping. We waisted over 600.00 dollars and was going to ship it back but that would cost us a extra hundred. For people on a budget trying to get healthy it kind of sucks. The people who do enjoy this diet must be lacking taste buds.

Ordered food online then cancelled the order and they were to take charges off my credit card. Then I had a call from Florida that my house was flooded and it is inhabitable. Then i flew to Pgh., PA, because my nephew had been killed at work. Had to bring my 87 yr. old mother back to live with me because she has dementia. Then when I returned to my GA apt. the nutrisystem food box was delivered to my neighbor's house, which i had previously cancelled. I then return the box to nutrisystem. it has been almost 1 yr. now and still no refund from them. i mailed the complaint papers to them and my credit card company, yet my refund was denied.
I really don't know about all that other than I am a 5-yr breast cancer survior with many other physical alments and under much stress that is in my life due to family and economic problems. Taking care of my mom is like working a 40 hr week +. She will live with my sisters in Pgh for the summer or as soon as they can cope with her. My nephew's killer has not been found yet, keeps my sister under a lot of stress and my other sister was in a terrible car accident and has 4 children, it is hard for her to take care of my mom at this time.

How much longer are we going to be subjected to the commercial featuring the dizzy broad gushing about fitting into a size 2? We would have bought and tried the product but the commercial is a total turn-off.

The food is gross and I can't believe this company expects people to consume this as nutritional. The nutrition comes from all the extras you buy at the grocery store. It's not less than $10 a day, they want you to drink 2x as much water than recommended because the sodium intake is extremely high.
REFUND POLICY WATCH OUT!!! I sent it back and of course I had to pay. The package was sent back Aug/06 it's now Jan.23 2007 and my credit card was never refunded. Make sure if sending anything back you call them right away with the tracking number, and make sure you check your account. This company seems to have all the answers about why my account was never credited along with many others.
The wait time on the phone they say is due to the high volume of calls for their product...HA HA HA. I would have to believe it's because there are so many calls about getting nasty food and people not getting their money back. This would have to be the worst company I have ever dealt with and definitely would not recommend this program to anyone. Also...all the people that work for this company should be ashamed of themselves for what they do for a buck. Get a real job and have some pride in what you do for a living. I could go on and on but this company has already wasted enough of my time.

I read all the complaints about Nutrisystem after I ordered my food and food for my husband. I was worried. Our food arrived, packaged as we chose. We were excited to begin. The food is flavorful, not salty. Some of the products are not to my liking, so I will not order them again, i.e. Toaster pastries and blueberry muffins. In two weeks my husband has lost 10 pounds and I have lost 5. We find it an easy program to stick to and have NO complaints. I just wanted to write to say I am a happy customer who hopes to lose a lot more weight in the next few months.

Nutrisystem food packaged with maggots, bugs, etc. they will not exchange or refund because its over the 30 day policy.

Food was terrible, expensive and arrived late. I tried to cancel my second order, but the food arrived anyway. I returned the orders for both my husband and myself, but was only credited for my husband's order. When I followed up, was told that I sent back ONE day after the thirty days, even though I spoke to a counselor who told me that the order would be considered refused and that I would receive a refund. Now they say that I have to dispute with the credit card company.
I'm out $289.46 and have a box of food that will be thrown away because it is so bad!

I wish I would have read all of the messages posted on consumeraffairs.com before I placed an order with NutriSystem. Like everyone else on here, I chose to place a custom order where I picked the foods I wanted. I spent about 30 minutes carefully making my selections based on what I thought I would eat. I received my order within a few days after placing it, in which I was very excited about. When I first opened the box, there was my packing slip and a letter.
The letter said: "Due to the upcoming, exciting launch of our New & Improved NutriSystem Nourish program, we are currently retiring a few of our food items to make room for all the delicious new and improved selections...Because of this, we may have had to substitute some items which you ordered that have been discontinued, with other comparable items..."
They were right about that. There were several things that I did not order included in the box, such as vegetarian sloppy joes (I hate sloppy joes), turkey hot dog, 2 southwestern chicken dinners (which I specifically did not order because I get bad acid reflux when I eat spicy foods), among others that I did not select. I didn't mind too much when I was unpacking and organizing all of it. On day 1, I ate scrambled eggs for breakfast and the chicken noodle soup for lunch (both were pretty good). For dinner I had chicken pizzaiola, which was average. Day 2, I ate bluberry muffins for breakfast, which tasted like cardboard. I had to take a drink of milk with each bite, because they were so stale and hard, not to mention no real taste of blueberries. I also ate a carmel chocolate dessert bar, which was ok.
For lunch, chicken and veges, and dinner homestyle chicken noodles with gravy. Both were horrible. I ended up choking down my day 2 meals. I expected that the food wasn't going to be wonderful; you can't expect too much when you're ordering pre-packaged food. However, I was not impressed by any means. Here is the worst part (and somewhat embarrasing). The last two days, I have had to 'number 2' several times each day (like, 5 or 6 times), and my stomach has hurt. I normally eat fruits, veges, and salad, so I know it is not from that stuff. Something about the NutriSystem food does not agree with me at all.
I called today and selected the option to get a refund. I was immediately connected to Sandy, who told me how to return my order and that I would get the full amount refunded back to my credit card within 10 days after they received my order. I do have to call them 2 days after I ship it back to give them my UPS or FedEx tracking code, then I will get the refund. She then transferred me to Christina, a counselor, who cancelled my account so I would not be charged anymore. Neither asked why I was cancelling, but that's ok with me because they wouldn't be able to talk me into keeping it. I do have to pay for return shipping. The customer service was good and fast. I was on and off the phone within 15 minutes.
Maybe they have changed some policies in the last few months to better service customers. But, one thing is for sure, they have not made any improvements in the taste of their food. If they have, I would hate to have tasted it before!

I placed a new order after placing my last one in 5-06. They have always shipped to my home st. address, but this time they shipped to my PO box. I live on a small island in SE Alaska and things can be slow, but they sent it regular mail. That means it will come by barge from Washington and take 4-6 weeks and they have already charged my card. I checked with the post office on delivery time. I tired to cancel, but if I refuse the order and send it back that will be another 4-6 weeks plus what ever time they fix my credit card. I have not had good results with them on this delivery and now I find they are selling the product in stores. What gives? Yes I am uspset as some of the food isn't that great and they have not lived up to their promise.
If I don't pay off the credit card, I will have intrest charges added.

This is what happened when I ordered their product: I am in the process of returning my 1st order for the second time & canceling my plan. Since I have ordered my plan I have found several people who have had problems getting the correct food. Some of the problems are: You cannot choose the free week of food & they don't tell you that anywhere that I found. You don't get what you ordered (the first order there were at least 44 items wrong and/or missing). I had to send the whole order back (at their expense because it was their fault & there were over 39 items, which is their limit in order to not have to send back the whole order).
During the second order they sent me the same items that I had already sent back, and I have to pay the shipping to send it back. I am out the $22 that it cost to ship back a product that I tried & am totally dissatisfied with & all they could say was unfortunately, yes you are out the money. I felt strongly that their product would have helped me; however, I have just started and the problems are many. As of now I am disappointed in the company and I will tell people to stay away from the company.
I am out the money it cost to return their product. $22

Misrepresentation of product, performance, guarantee, everything about them as distasteful as the food! I was promised a Full refund when placing my order 9/30/06 as long as I cancelled by Oct 30 and returned remaining product which I did. Now they try to cover it by saying only a refund of returned food which they even try to cheat you here by estimating refund instead of crediting individual items!
Waste of money & time, poor service. Bad experience all the way around and to try to talk to them you must sit through incessant repeats of their false promises on recordings over and over for 5-10 minutes. If they were honest recordings should say high volume of calls of disatisfied customers RUN FOR YOUR LIFE do not order here! Wish I would have read this site before ordering!

Why would you have a site that is devoted only to complaining about things and then say that you are looking for the truth. That's irresponsible! The fact of the matter is, I've really enjoyed Nutrisysem. The food that was described as salty and terrible tasting I find quite delicious considering that it is prepackaged food. I have had some substitute meals but they have been good about replacing them. We need to have advocates that reveal the flaws in things but it's irresponsible to say that you are giving people the Truth.

I wish I had read the comments on this site before signing up for the NutriSystem Diet. I agree and experienced the same problems as others, but mainly the food is simply inetible. One of my daily routines became comparing the actual prepared food next to the picture on the package. Except for the dry cereal, none of the dishes even closely resembled the pictures either on the packages, the commercials or the website.
One example is the meatball sandwich. I counted no less than 17 meatballs spilling out of a bun on the picture. Inside the foil envelope, however, was about 1/4 cup of tomato sauce and four meat pellets. This lunch entre was the equivilent of a catsup sandwich.
The dehydrated hamburger becomes meat mush when prepared. Tuna and chicken salad are puree. The chocolates are like eating sawdust. Plus when you break down the cost, this food is costing more than the most costly prepared low calorie meals on the market (nearly $2 for 3/4cup of frosted Cherios, over $10 for 3 turkey weiners!)
I finally cancelled despite my resolve to stick to it when I opened a dinner entre (tuna casserole) and actually found the smell so revolting I threw it away. I cringe everytime I see one of the NutriSystems commercials and hear the testimonial of delicious food. I cannot believe that anyone could even call this food acceptable much less delicious. I wasted nearly $600, did not cheat on the diet and lost only a couple of pounds. When I called to complain I was told that I was not losing weight because I was not eating all of my food and my body had gone into starvation mode so I would not loose weight unless I ate every bite of this swill.
I wasted nearly $600.

I saw the NS commercials and thought that it was my answer to losing my pregnancy weight. But the price was too steep to continue after the first month...Since I was set up on the auto-ship they sent me the second order before I cancelled. When the order arrived via UPS, I denied the order and tracked it on its way back to NS. I figured I would have my money credited back within a few days, but soon learned that it would be two weeks for them to process the return and even more before it would be posted on my bank account.
I called them after the two weeks to check the status figuring it would be back in the account the next day. The guy told me that the return wasn't even submitted. He did it there (or so he said) and it would be in my account in 3-5 days (again so he said)...As of this writing it has been 5 days and I still do not have my money back...
Oh and by the way, not only is it a hassle to return product with NS, but the food wasn't that great. Some was edible (at best) but a lot of it was gross...The chicken entrees taste like cardboard, I started making my own food cause i got sick of the fake chicken, I began to dread dinner with the NS food. I still have 1/2 of the NS food in my cupboard that I will never use and I have thought of returning it, but its such a hassle.

Returned order due to 1/3 of ordered items were not what I ordered. It has been 5 weeks since my returned order was signed for by Nutrisystem via UPS and I still do not have credit back on my credit card after trying several times and several phone calls with several different customer service reps. I keep getting the run around. Economic consequence is $245

I am in my third month of ordering from Nutrisystem. I order on line and pay extra for the privilage of ordering the meals I want, rather than doing the automatic ship where they choose the meals. For two (2)of the three(3) months, I have ordered, they have shipped me Substitute items, and I Quote here from the letter that arrives with my order, "Due to unusually high demand for our weight loss program, we are experiencing temporary shortages of some of our food products. Because of this, we may have had to substitute some items which you ordered that were out of stock with others of comparable value. We apologize for this temporary inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding in this matter."
Of the 112 items in my last order(28 days worth), 32 items, (29%) were substitutes. It is unconscionable to me that they would arbitrarily opt to substitute almost a 3rd of my entire order. I can't think of any other business that would presume to ship a third of an order with items of comparable value of their choosing. On Sept. 26, 2006 I contacted Customer Service to express my displeasure. I spoke with a very pleasant young man, Denaro (sp?). We went through a list of current in stock items, and ordered replacements for most of the substitution. When the items had not arrived by the following Tuesday Oct. 3, 2006, I again called Customer Service and spoke to a rather snippy representative; who informed me that the order had shipped the privious day, Oct. 2, 2006.
Today is Oct. 9, 2006, and once again, I have called Customer Service. Today, a very professional rep, Mary Ann informed me that the order wasn't picked up by UPS until Oct. 5th and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow Oct. 10th. NOW HERE'S THE KICKER AND THE LAST STRAW!!! Mary Ann informed me today, that they had SUBSTITUTED SUBSTITUES FOR THE REPLACEMENT ITEMS I ORDERED FOR THE ORGINAL SUBSTITUTES.

I received my order that included many substitutions for what I actually ordered. About 25% substitutions. I called in to cancel as there is no way to do this online. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with their service, I was hung up on. This company exhibited no respect for me as a person in any way. I received no apology or offer for replacement or reduction in price.
I am stuck paying for items I did not order and do not want.

After two months of the salt laden food, I canceled my autoship and sent back the last order that was shipped to me. (I never even opened the box.) It was shipped UPS back to NS on 9/11 and arrived 9/13 at 9:22 am and was signed for by a person named Brewer. This is all per UPS tracking system. It is now 10/3 and I still do not have credit for it. When I called NS (customer service had to actually look up the tracking number because they didn't even know it was receive keep in mind this is almost one month after they received it) to ask why I have not received credit they told me it can take up to TWO billing cycles to receive credit but they will put in a request and I should see a credit in 3 to 7 business days. That is unacceptable.
My second complaint is the fact that their food is like eating straight salt. I emailed customer service asking if they offer or were planning to offer lower salt foods but of course, received no response. How can you lose weight when you are retaining water from eating so much salt? This program is junk!! I have been on Weight Watchers for one year and was trying Nutrisystem to get over a plateau but would NOT recommend it. I'm continuing with WW and they are wonderful!

I really DO like the Nutrisystem plan (I've gone from 162 pounds down to 145 in 50 days), but they continually substitute out-of-stock items with items I did not order, rather than substituting them with items I did order. Most people do not order items they don't like, so if they substitute with items not on your list, it is likely you do not like that item (which is the case with me).
In my last order, I received 16 replacement items I do not like, out of the 112 items I ordered.

For those out there who have struggled with you weight for a long time, I urge you not to believe what you see about Nutrisystem. I've battled my weight for nearly 8 years and done almost everything. Nutrisystem was one of the last things I'd thought I'd try. I checked out their web site and tried to read through every piece of infomration they published to make sure I understood the program. I ordered my food, with my own food choices based upon their descriptions of the food.
I was completely stunned by how horrible the majority of the food was. I also encountered several issues with the cooking directions. No matter how many times I followed the directions exactly, some products never came out at all. I wasted a lot of food. The other food that did cook ok was barely edible at best. I've only lost a few pounds on this program and I have followed it to the letter. I understand that each person is different, but this program claims anyone can benefit from it. Just beware that you are better off learning the nutrional value of foods and understanding portion control. That partnered with exercise is the best way to lose weight. Don't shell out the money for this program....it's not worth it.

I ordered for the first time Nutrisystem on line. I signed up for the over-60 program, I thought. I tried to customize my foods since I am a vegetarian and I tried to avoid unwanted foods. When the order arrived, it was full of all sorts of items I did not order nor want. I called them and explained the problem. A young man explained I had probably signed up the wrong program . He gave me a credit for the next order and told me to send back the unwanted items with a list of new foods to replace. I did. Tracking the package, I know they received it on 8/4/06 at 10 am.
I was still waiting for the replacement package when a box arrived. it turns out to be my monthly order order and has all the items in it I do not want !!I called after receiving the box. Spoke with Jackie who told me I was signed up for automatic delivery. i told her I was waiting for a box to replace the sent back items, when this monthly box arrived. I told them not to send me the regular monthly because of the items I did not want in it. She said she would have it picked up since I cancelled it but made no mention of sending me the replacements items from the first delivery, bot to mention what the charges will be to my credit card. Now she tells me she cannot place the pick up order because the compuets are not working and will not let her to it in. I need to call her back later when the computers are back up. How should I know when her computer will be fixed!
I fear she is just putting me off. I need to get someone in there who will listen and resolve this mess. I do not want ANY of their food ever again. (It tastes awful too).
I was dealing with all this when my husband died so that I could not call them as often or as timely as I normally would have. I do not like having to beg for decent customer service. I spent money to have it sent back; I do not plan on reordering so I am out the $20 and I still have a box here to get returned. Besides, I paid the full price and never received the replacement foods. I would rather get credit on my card then fight with them about getting replacement foods now. Customer services from them gets a bad grade as far as I can see. I do not need the financial hastle as well as the aggravation when I am trying to pay for a funeral.

Order was wrong. I know about the bad food as a former client but there is no reason to substitute food causes it's from a warehouse. I got about half of my order.

Wow! I wish that I had read the things on this website BEFORE I ordered from Nutrisystem! At the end of June I decidedThat is it I MUST lose weight! but I felt that I needed some help doing this. The ads looked good, the price seemed fair, if you broke it down to the less than $10 per day. Problem being that #1- the company advertises the Pay as you go Program. But what they do not tell you is that first the total gets charged to your card and then-if you are approved- the separate entity lender pays it back to your card and then you pay the lender some monthly fee plus some HUGE percentage of monthly interest!
Problem #2-I agree with all of the people that said the Sodium content in the food is WAY too high! I was actually swelling up from Sodium intake!

I ordered Nutrisystem to lose about 20 lbs. I was referred by a friend. I have to say, most of the food is not anything I would buy. I am not a big eater, nor do I use a lot of salt. The salt MG are high, too high if you ask me. It's based on a 2,000 calorie diet and I don't eat that much at all in one day. They substitued some items for things I didn't pick or want. I am a vegetarian and picked the veg diet, but do not like certain flavors, such as smoke or sausage and they sent me 4 boxes of pasta with vegetarian sausage. I will not eat it. I love the scrambled eggs and think the ravioli's and lasagna are good. The desserts, snack bars and muffins are GROSS! The one thing that I have noticed is I can eat this stuff and feel full. I do not crave sweets as I once did and in a week I've lost 2 pounds. But if you ask me do you think you should buy it. I will say no, go to Weight Watchers and buy your own food at the grocery store, it works just as good.

I have been with Nutrisystem for 4 or 5 months, now and each and every order i have received has had products missing. I was forgiving the 1st and 2nd time but the 3rd time, it was getting old...AND I am getting billed for each of these missing orders!!! Their RUDE cust service rep told me that they don't send notifications that things will be replaced nor do they let the customerknow there are things missing...they wait for the customer to discover it & call in. To me, that is a dishonest way of doing things and tehre is no telling how many people don't check their packages!
I spoke to a customer service supervisor, who was very nice and she gave me a $20 coupon towards my next order. I also omplained to the PA BBB. when they approached Nutrisystem, their contact advised them that I had been given incorrect information from their customer service rep and that their policy is to include letters in their packages advising customers of changes in their orders. I just got my next order.
Well, needless to say, there was a replacement (no big deal) but again, there were items completely missing with no replacements and no courtesy letter advising to call in for replacements! I e-mailed the customer service supervisor letting her know that I am going to the BBB again and that I am very disappointed! Also called in to customer service and my missing products are being shipped to me now. For this company to be $70/share on the stock exchange, they should not be as disorganized, coordinate order better and have much better customer service than they do!

This company states that they will make a automatic draw off your account monthly, on the day the food is shipped. THIS IS A LIE. They put a hold on the money three weeks ahead of time without notifying you and create Overdraft Fees in your account. I was just charged 170.00 in overdfraft fees due to them putting a hold on my account on 5/12/06. My product doesn't ship until the 19-21. This has caused a tremendous hardship on my budget.

I tried Nutrisystem at the beginning of this year and found it was HORRIBLE. The first entree tasted like spam with some sort of wierd seasoning, so I immediately cancelled future orders and returned the product. The customer service line always says they are experiencing heavy calls at the moment and after 1/2 hour waiting I got transferred and then got cut off.
I finally got through and got my return code. I returned the order and it was received by Nutrisystem on Jan 16. I called a week ago and was told that nobody put in for the refund, but it would be processed immediately.
Its now May 4th and I haven't received my money back. I think 4 months is long enough. I am paying interest on this every month not to mention the $44 it cost me to ship it back.

They put me on hold for client services but nobody ever picked up. I ate Burundy sauce and Beef with Rice and got food poisoning.

Actually, I am writing to suggest to people who are having problems with Nutrisystem to use QVC to order the Nutrisystem products. QVC has a 30 day return guarantee. You have to pay to ship stuff back, but even if you've sampled a bit and determined it's not to your liking, you can return it for a full refund including the shipping charges you paid for QVC to ship the order to you.
If Nutrisystem "acts up" or doesn't send what it said it would, it will deal with QVC and not you. Since this company represents thousands of buyers, it will have to give good service or lose its contract. You can pick smaller time frames including one week of "Italian Dinners" or "two weeks of desserts." While the Nutrisytem meals are far from gourmet I don't find most of them unpleasant. Usually the addition of some frozen peas to a dinner entree fixes it up just fine.
My complaint would be that there is too much sauce in the entrees. I don't know whether they need it as a preservative or whether it's just "make weight." The items do seem a bit overcooked, but that could be the result of their being much like canned foods. I do find selling packages of cold cereal and breakfast bars rather much. My complaint with the system as such is their making cheap choices in the name of "variety." The dinners only selections aren't bad. I must agree that sometimes they blow the setup.
They had a deal a year or so ago with "hamburgers" and "hotdogs" as well as "buns" which left much to be desired. If (on the QVC website) you find something to your liking, it's worth the risk to order it. I've used it for emergency rations. I discovered that my local Albertson's stocks the snacks, many of which such as the soy chips are quite tasty. Nutrisystem remains a mixed bag.

Consumers beware! While there are some products of Nutrisystem that are edible. The bulk of them are just plain awful. So after the first month, I decided to customize my order to select things I felt were edible. My order arrived and most of the items I spent the time custom selecting were not there ~~ they subsituted them. I placed a call to them and was advised that their policy is to substitute and they are not required to advise the customer. When I advised them that I was going to file a complaint with consumer affairs.com and my credit card company they did agree to have fed-ex pick up the shipment and they would cover the costs. I would strongly advise against dealing with this company. No one needs this type of hassle on a month to month basis.

I ordered the NutriSystem nourishment plan after seeing a TV commercial about how great the food was. I was promised a free week of food which I did not receive even after several complaints to customer service. I finally received the free week of food but it was awful. Everything in it was whatever no one else would eat. The food in general is absolutely horrible, it's inedible, that's why you lose weight. You're so sick from whatever they put in the food that you can't eat. If it wasn't for the fact that you get to add a piece of fruit and a yogurt everyday I would not have gotten through even one week.
Calling customer service is a joke. I finally gave up. Everytime I received an order it was wrong. I took lots of time to customize my choices but I NEVER once got what I ordered. Then to add insult to injury I had to send it back at my expense! I finally demanded a refund then they ran me around for 4 weeks saying they never received my return package and asking me to send them shipping info. I did that a total f 4 times, and still they claimed they couldn't find my return. After almost 6 weeks and me threatening to contact the Attorney General's office they finally 'found' my return. I had delivery confirmation stating it had been delivered 6 weeks earlier.

Ordered the NutriSystem in February 2006. I was overall pleased with how quickly the order was received. Out of the 4 weeks (1 week free) order, approximately 1/3 of it was horrible. I had some success, so I decided to order again, except this time I would Customize my order. When I received my order in March, I was missing items even though the sheet was identical to what I ordered. Much to my surprise, customer service blew me off like a lot of the customers on this site. I do plan to report them to the Better Business Bureau. No one contacted me that changes or substitutes would be placed in my order.

I cancelled an order today and received a return authorization for an exisitng order. My question is, why is it that every time I tried to call to cancel, the wait is extroadinarily long? It wasn't that long when I placed the order or had questions about it. I actually missed the return time on the original order (1/21/06) because I could never get through to anyone for an authorization number. I called several times and waited up to 30 minutes or longer each time. This was, of course, after I chose the selection to cancel the order. Everything went quickly up until that point.
Is this the usual practice when things are purchased through Nutri System? Needless to say, I feel a bit ripped off. At least of the first order which I am now stuck with. I have to pay the exorbitant shipping to return the box that came in the meantime, while still trying to return the first order and cancel the monthly orders. Now I understand that the company may not be able to cancel this next order in time and I may possibly be stuck shipping this box back as well. I'm sorry I didn't like the products, but that is the way it goes sometimes.
I do, however, feel that I am entitled to at least being able to stop future shipments without having to pay to return them each time. Ideally, I would like to also be able to return the original order that I tried for so long to reach someone to authorize the return. I do not recommend giving your credit card number to this company. They are quick to sell and slow to respond to complaints. You're better off buying Lean Cuisine at the grocery store.
I lost approzimately $700 plus return shipping costs when I finally got to return 1 box.

NutriSystem sounds like a great program in the ads, but once you get it home you will have a tough time swallowing it. Some of the food is good, and some is just horrible. It will cost you nearly $300 to even try a one month supply. The counselors never contact you- that's a joke. I now have 2 months of the disgusting food I will never use. You could save money by just eating 1 granola bar for breakfast and 2 of the frozen diet meals for lunch and dinner from your local grocery store. It would be a lot more tasty and less costly as well. Don't order NurtiSystem unless you have a lot of money to waste.

On 2/24/06 I placed an order online for 4 weeks of food plus one "free" week. I spent a great deal of time picking specific food items in each category (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack) utilizing the "customized order" function. I was pleased to arrive home from work on 2/28/06 to find that my order had been delivered already. That's where my happiness ended. Because I am handicapped, I wasn't too happy with the overweight, over-sized package. I injured my back trying to get it into my house.
Shipping the items in two, or even three, packages would have been much more practical and customer-friendly. After recuperating somewhat from my injury, I opened the box. Inside I found a plethora of items that I did not order. A check of the packing list against my original "customized" order revealed that whoever packed the carton clearly did not pay ANY attention to my preferences. In addition to receiving 17 items that were NOT on my list, my package contained quantities that differed from what I'd selected for another 13 items. And some items I'd chosen were missing altogether! For the most part, the packing list accurately reflected what was in the carton but it differed greatly from my list of choices.
However, in a number of cases, the packing list was grossly inaccurate too. For example, I ordered three cheese pizzas but FOUR cheese pizzas were noted on the packing list. However, I did not receive 4 cheese pizzas, nor did I receive the 3 cheese pizzas I'd ordered. Instead, I received 4 mushroom and pepper pizzas! Quite a few of my snack and/or breakfast items were missing. When I contacted customer service about the errors in my order, I was told "no one has the luxury of picking their free items." (The "free" items that I would have to return/exchange -- a MY expense -- were an issue which I hadn't yet addressed!)
After 15 minutes on hold, I had to repeat my complaint 4 times before it was acknowledged. I explained that I was short several items, received items that I did not order/did not want, and didn't receive some of the items that I did order. The response by the customer service person was "well, sometimes items are backordered so other items are substituted." I stated that since I'd "customized" my order, I did not want someone to pick items for me. I was then told "that can't be helped." In the very least, customers should have the option of receiving subsitute items rather than just have them included.

My January order arrived with food missing. It took many phone calls and but finally someone said they would give me a coupon off my next order. My February order was supposed to be shipped on 2/17/06. It is now 2/27/06 and so I called. I was told it had not shipped because I had not paid for the last order (which I had and explained this). They were very rude and told me to call another number. I called that number and spoke to another customer service representative who could have cared less and then I said I wanted to cancel.
I then had to call a third number and finally got a very pleasant customer service representative. She asked my why I was canceling and I explained. She told me she did not blame me, took my information, gave me a cancelation number and apologized. How sad is it that the easiest thing to do with this company is CANCEL! The system might have been working for me, but when you have a company that could not care less about any problems that may come up, that is a sign of a bad company and I will not do business with them again. I will be telling all my friends and family as well.

Let me start by saying I am more than a little dissatisfied with my service at NutriSystem. This is the worst business transaction experience I have had to date in my life. A summary of my problem is I have been charged a total of $1,117.84 since ordering with NutriSystem on January 2, 2006. It is only February 2006 therefore my grand total should be $558.92.
I have received one order to date with the second order having shipped, but I haven’t received. January transaction: My credit card was charged once on 1/5/06 and again on 1/8/06. I received one order in January. I placed one order in January therefore I should only be charged once. I placed a call to NutriSystem and it was suggested I do not know how to read a credit card statement.
However, given that my degree is in Finance I am quite sure of my ability to be able to distinguish the difference between a debit and credit. I called my credit card company and disputed the charge. I faxed my credit card billing statement to NutriSystem.I was to receive a call back from NutriSystem and was never contacted. February transaction: My credit card was again charged twice on 2/4/06. Again, I have one order being shipped.
I placed a call to NutriSystem and once again the delightful Customer Service Representative suggested that I don’t know how to read my credit card statement. I faxed my credit card billing statement. I was to receive a call back but was never contacted. This morning, 2/8/06, I checked my credit card balance and saw that I have been recharged for the January transaction that I disputed. I called my credit card company and was told that NutriSystem is fighting the dispute. This makes no sense. One order each month, yet two charges each month. I immediately called NutriSystem and was told that my call would be returned quickly. Again, that did not happen.
My experience with NutriSystem has been so negative that I have reported my experience with family, friends, and co-workers currently on the program and those considering the program because of my success. Success alone does not influence. Fair business practices go much farther than success. If this is not corrected I plan to post my negative experiences on message boards, in our Medical School update, and as a last resort to the Better Business Bureau, and Chamber of Commerce where NutriSystem is locatecd.
I am not trying to receive a refund on the orders I have and will receive but simply on the over charges. Why is this so difficult? Everything is in black and white. Two orders, four charges. That is unacceptable. Course of action I would like to see take place. Refund my over charges equaling a total of $558.92. While writing this email I did receive a call back from the only Customer Service Representative that has been any help and I will hopefully receive a refund. However, it isn't redemption enough. I still plan to not order with NutriSystem again.

I received my box of food yesterday, and was trully overwhelmed by the volume of items that i would not eat...particularly snacks and dessert. Therefore, I am returning the order by UPS and expect a full refund. My mistake, but I can not do this program.

I so desperately wanted to lose weight, so I called. Placing the order was easy, that is where the easy ended. It took 15 days for my order to arrive. The Welcome pack was not included, after checking the order I found missing items. I tried to set up an appointment with someone, that was the biggest joke ever. No one EVER got back to me and I mean ever! I finally called the number to place new orders and spoke to someone, someone aactually answrs that number. There was no help there either. When I called to cancel the next order and was asked why I explained and it was truly no big deal. I had faith in your system and was failed miserably. Will you do something about my complaints? I have very little faith in that.

I ordered the 4 week supply with 1 extra week (free of charge)special. I decided I would like to select my foods rather than receive an assortment selected by nutrisystem. My order arrived 3 days after placing it and most of the food items were incorrect. The packing slip indicated that the order inside was indeed the items that I had selected however that was not the case. I contacted customer service and explained that most of my order was wrong and that I would like to exchange the incorrect items for the ones I had originally selected.
Customer service said that would be fine, and I would just need to ship them back, priority FEDEX at MY cost! I explained that I felt it was wrong to expect the customer to pay for Nutrisystems mistake and that if this was they way they operated I would have to seriously consider cancelling my membership. I received a reply from customer service indicating that they cancelled my membership and good bye. I have contacted Nutrisystem headquarters but as of 2 weeks I still have not had a reply.

The TV and Internet ads touted that Nutrisystems food costs less than $10 per day and if at any time you are not satisfied you can return the remaining food and get all your money back. (This was a pay for 4 weeks and get 1 week free deal.) They also said IT IS SO SIMPLE! NO WEIGHING! NO COUNTING! When I spoke with Customer Service Rep Doug, ext. 4771, I asked specifically about the money-back guarantee. He in turn specifically stated that if at any time I was not happy with the program I could return the remaining food and get a FULL refund.
Well, the food arrived. Some was very good, most was average, too many inedible. Many of the microwaveable foods exploded in my microwave at half power, when they say to use high power. The food plan that came with it (never mentioned before) lists all these additional foods you must buy in order to fulfill all your nutritional needs. Now, this meant counting and weighing! And more money! And shopping!
They also send an exercise plan and some motivational garbage. (I work out, hard, 4 days a week -- they can keep their plan. I'm way beyond that.) Then you have to drink more water than today's guidelines tell you to. Well, I gained weight after four weeks, as I figured I would because they were telling me to eat about twice as much as I was eating before, while losing weight. So I called them and asked how to ship the remaining food back and get my refund. I was told to make a list of the food I was returning, put it in the box, keep a copy for myself, and mail it back to them. Then I was told they would figure out how much it was worth and would refund back that amount.
I repeated their promised guarantee of a full refund. The rep told me no, that is not what they meant! I asked how could I know if my shipping the food back would cost more than what I would receive from them. I was told that I just couldn't tell. I'd have to wait and see. I called again and told Christian, my counselor, ext. 5335, how livid I was and disgusted with the misrepresentation and that I planned to make it all as public as I could. I've never had a worse consumer experience. The ads are more than misleading.

Nutrisystem is very adept at quickly taking orders and setting you up for monthly deliveries. They are super speedy at sending billing invoices. It is nearly impossible, as I have found, to reach anyone. There are great (it is a good idea in theory) promises of having a counselor call and spend 10-15 minutes with you to answer any questions and counsel you. I was never able to speak to anyone and waited at home one afternoon for a session that never took place. At inception they say someone will call you within an allotted time. Well, I've been on the program for two months and no one has called.
I tried to call customer service to have some issues with the billing cleared up and waited -- seriously -- over an hour to get a human being on the line. I had in the meantime emailed my questions, but I just wanted for curiosity's sake to see how long it would take for someone to respond to the call. And there has been no response to my email. I am beginning to suspect that Nutrisystem in nothing but a large preservative-filled food factory with only one person handling phones and emails.
If you are a person who can apportion your food yourself, do it. If you cannot, join for the minimum possible and begin to eat your own foods rather than spend the money on Nutrisystem. You can buy healthier foods and go to your friends and family for support. Even if their support is .05 percent, it is still greater than anything I have gotten from Nutrisystem this past two months. I was desperate to lose weight and loved the IDEA of their approach. Unfortunately, that does not exist. Only high-priced foods for sale. If you are desperate to lose weight and want Nutrisystem to be there for you, don't hold your breath. Try Weight Watchers.
I was desperate to lose weight and thrilled at the idea and very motivated to have access to a diet system that could both provide food and answer questions and be there for me. After all, I am paying aren't I? I gave up for a week until I realized that Nutrisystem may be a broken promise to me, but I am a big girl and will not break a promise to myself to lose weight. I don't know how many others may just give up.
