The dollars fall away. The pounds? Now that's another matter. There's no end of plans, programs, gurus, diets and schemes out there, all promising easy, effortless weight loss. All of them are happy to take your money. However, actually losing weight isn't as easy ... nor is getting your money back if you decide to quit the program, as many LA Weight Loss clients have found out.
If you have any existing health problems -- diabetes, high blood pressure, depression -- or if you're taking prescription medications, it's very important to check with your doctor before starting any new diet.
Also, it's important to realize that getting out of the program can be difficult, not to mention expensive.
Rae of Carrollton, TX March 21, 2009
Rae of Carrollton TX (03/21/09) I signed up for the program in 2006 and was told that I needed to purchase protein bars and drinks etc in order to be successful with the weight loss. I started breaking out after eating the bars with huge red bumps around my jaw and neck. I took pictures and went in to the office and asked for a refund but they insisted that it was not thier products even though this was the only change in my diet. They claimed it did not contain anything that could cause allergic reactions. I quit the program and lost my money because of all the contract issues. I do not recommend the program to anyone and it did not work well for me either.
I lost almsot 500 as part of this program and still have scars on my skin to thsi day from the reaction. I've been to dermatologists also and they could not figure out what happened.
Melanie of Tigard, OR March 20, 2009
Melanie of Tigard OR (03/20/09) I have reported the inconsistencies in pricing and trying to get me to pay extra weeks that I took to get to my goal.
BUT now they have closed all Oregon stores and voided my contract.
I paid about 700 for the program and was to recieve bonuses back as I met my goal weights.
I never received any of the bonuses, nor the completion on my contract.
Deborah of Lower Sackville, NS March 11, 2009
Deborah of Lower Sackville NS (03/11/09) The company shut down and we expected to get a refund and our bar and juice that was prepaid for mailed or a call to pick them up, or a refund. It's a lot of money for a company to keep that they did not earn.
I cannot afford to go somewhere else now and my blood pressure, etc is high, the reason I wanted to continue in 2009. It's very disturbing that a company can shut down like that and expect that it's ok.
Debbie of Shelton, WA March 3, 2009
Debbie of Shelton WA (03/03/09) When I moved to Shelton in September, I talked to the manager, Hannah, about picking up the remaining protein bars on my account. I believe I have around 75-76 that I had pre-purchased when I joined. She explained that they didn't have enough in stock and they would ship these to me when I called after I moved.
Since I was living with my daughter and didn't have the space (and wasn't on the program at that time) I waited until I had a home of my own before I called the center. Well, I tried to call today and the number is disconnected. I'm out about 900 and would like to join this lawsuit.
T of Oriole Drive, WI March 3, 2009
T of Oriole Drive WI (03/03/09) I ordered a bunch of product like la bars and other food. They insisted I shouldnt take it all up front that I could come back as I needed it. Well I need it and no one mentioned they were closing the doors and now I am out what I paid up front.
Times are hard enough to be paying up front and not getting what you paid.
