Soft Bones in Men

A drug used to treat soft bones in women also works in men, according to a report presented at the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research.

Men get soft bones just like women. About 2 million American men have soft bones or osteoporosis right now and 3 million more are at risk.

Thin men, sedentary men, men who do not get enough calcium or Vitamin D and men with certain hormonal problems are all at risk. That is why this study is so important.

A non-hormonal drug called Fosamax can help men as well as women. Researchers found that Fosamax increases overall bone density in men by 7 percent and worked regardless of age.

To prevent and treat soft bones in men you should do regular weight-bearing exercises, eat a high calcium diet and ask your doctor about calcium and Vitamin D supplements as well as Fosamax.

It might just save your brittle bones.
