Toys R Us Lists Hot Toys For Holidays

But most are $50 or more, so be selective


  • PhotoWith the holiday season fast approaching, many parents will soon be searching for the “hot” toy of 2011.

    Toy retailer Toys R Us has listed toys it expects to be in high demand for the holidays. The prices listed below are manufacturer's suggested retail price but you may find lower prices by checking Walmart, Amazon and all the other usual suspects.  Of course, if you wait too long you could find higher prices.

  • 1. LEGO Ninjago Limited Edition Lightning Dragon Battle

    It's an action/building toy that comes with its own plot. The object is to rescue Sensei Wu. Frakjaw and Kruncha have captured Sensei Wu and stolen the nunchucks of lightning with their helicopter. Players help Jay and the fearsome Lightning Dragon to rescue him and retrieve the golden weapon before they escape into the Underworld! The list price is $79.

  • 2. Moshi Monsters

    Designed for kids aged 6-12yrs, Moshi Monsters is a free-to-play, world of adoptable pet monsters. Players choose from one of six virtual pet monsters - Furi, Poppet, Diavlo, Zommer, Luvli and Katsuma - that players can create, name and nurture. This list price is $5.99.

  • 3. My Keepon Interactive Dancing Robot

    My Keepon is an interactive robotic toy for kids of all ages. In its touch mode, it responds to pokes, pats, and tickles with a rich variety of emotional movements and sounds. In its dance mode, it hears the beat in music or clapping and dances in synchronized rhythm. List price is $50.

  • 4. Air Swimmers

    The Air Swimmers Flying Radio Controlled Clownfish and Shark are helium filled RC flying fish. You can fly the giant sized balloon around your house or work place. The product descriptins says the Flying Clownfish and Shark are Radio Controlled which means they go for approximately 50 percent longer flying range. The list price is $50.

  • 5. LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet with Mr. Pencil Learning Game Value Pack

    According to the manufacturer, “It’s phonics fun, artistic adventure and letter-writing lessons all rolled up into one LeapPad Read & Write Bundle!” The Bundle includes: LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet - green, Explorer Mr. Pencil and LeapSchool Reading games and one LeapFrog App Center Download Card. The list price is $100.

  • 6. Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Starter Pack for Nintendo Wii

    In this video game, Spyro the Dragon joins forces with a group of small creatures known collectively as "Skylanders." The magical realm of Skylands has been guarded by the Skylanders throughout its history. Now an evil entity called Kaos has banished the Skylanders to Earth, turning them into figurines in the process. With the player's  help, the Skylanders can reclaim their land by attacking Kaos and his horde of loyal minions. The list price is $70.

  • 7. Figit Friends

    According to the product description,Fijit Friends “are every girl's best friend - interactive, robotic toys full of personality that talk, dance, laugh and bring a new level of innovation to playtime.” With word recognition capability, Fijit Friends can reportedly understand and respond to more than 30 verbal commands, culling from more than 150 built-in phrases and jokes. The list price is $50 for each friend.

  • 8. Playskool Poppin' Park Elefun Busy Ball Popper

    This toy is designed for children as young as nine months old, which begs the question, what does a nine month old need with a “hot” toy? They could be just as happy with the box it came in. The toy consists of a plastic elephant that spits colored balls out of its trunk. On second thought, it does sound fun. Requires four D batteries. The list price is $30.

  • 9. Trash Pack

    This is actually a collection of toys. Each pack is made up of a group of “trashies,” which are plastic figures who each live in a trash can. The object, apparently, is to collect them. The packs start at $10.

  • 10. Nerf Vortex Vigilon Disc Blaster

    The Nerf Vortex Vigilon blaster holds up to five long-range discs, which apparently are Nerf projectiles. Its built-in clip drops down at the touch of a button so you won't have to take a break from the action to reload. This blaster comes with five discs and instructions. NRA membership not included. The list price is $20.
