The FBI has Scott James Larson, age 43, in custody as the leading suspect in the “Mr. Magoo Bandit” series of California bank robberies.
Larson was taken into custody at the San Diego FBI office Monday without incident. Larson voluntarily surrendered to agents after he was advised that he was being sought.
After surrendering to FBI agents, Larson was interviewed by an FBI agent and a San Diego Police Department robbery detective concerning his alleged bank robbery activity.
According to the complaint filed in this matter with the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, Larson confessed to robbing the U.S. Bank, located at 3201 University Avenue, San Diego, California, on Wednesday, September 7, 2011.
During this robbery, Larson allegedly used a demand note to rob a teller. After receiving a sum of money, Larson exited the bank, walked through the alley, turned right and walked behind a store, and continued walking for several blocks.

This investigation is being conducted jointly by the FBI’s Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego Offices, the San Diego Police Department, and multiple local law enforcement partners throughout these regions. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of California, San Diego.
