CORRECTION: Freedom Debt Relief Not Banned in Missouri

Consumer incorrectly identified company that took her $1,298

In an August 24 "What's On Your Mind" feature, ConsumerAffairs.com stated that Freedom Debt Relief had been banned from doing business in Missouri.

Freedom Debt Relief has not been banned from doing business in Missouri.  ConsumerAffairs.com regrets the error.

Additionally, the story quoted Linda, of Chepachet, R.I., as saying she paid $1298 to Freedom Debt Relief for a packet of information to reduce credit card bills and never received anything.

But a spokeswoman for Freedom Debt Relief insists that Linda was not dealing with her company.  The spokesman says Freedom Debt Relief  does not send out packets in the mail and doesn't say its program is part of a government stimulus effort.
