Sleepy's Gets Clean Bill of Health from Connecticut

Attorney general finds no evidence company violated state laws

The folks at Sleepy's can sleep well tonight. Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen says his office has found no evidence that the mattress and bedding company violated state laws.

The investigation began in late 2009 in response to consumers who complained about the quality of the mattresses they purchased and alleged that some were infested with bedbugs.

But Jepsen says his office found that the complaints about mattress quality were handled according to the manufacturer's warranties. The probe also found no evidence of bedbugs in the company's warehouses or delivery trucks.

Jepsen said the company also provided evidence that it has never sold used mattresses and demonstrated that it has a system in place to ensure that returned mattresses are handled separately from new mattresses.

Jepsen thanked the company for cooperating in the investigation.
