A Nebraska company is recalling certain lots of its dietary supplements designed to improve joint health in dogs because the products could be tainted with salmonella.
Response Products of Broken Bow, Nebraska, said its pulling its Cetyl M for Dogs with lot numbers 1210903 and 0128010 off the market. The company distributed these supplements for dogs through direct sales, stores, veterinarians, and online retailers.
Salmonella is a group of bacteria that can cause food poisoning and diarrheal illnesses in people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) . People who handle pet products tainted with salmonella can become infected if they do not wash their hands after handling the items, the CDC said.
Response Products, however, said it has not received any reports of illnesses linked to the recalled products.
