VW Passats Recalled

Possible heat shield damage

Volkswagen Group of America has recalled 410,000 gasoline powered Passats because of possible damage to a heat shield.

VW said that a heat shield under some Passats equipped with automatic transmissions have the damaged shield. VW dealers will inspect the heat shield and will install an additional heat shield if necessary.

Volkswagen reported no accidents or injuries related to the damaged shield.

The recall includes 1999 to 2005 model year Passats.

Some Passats also may have a faulty fuel line, according to VW that the automaker will replace. Those cars have 1.8-liter turbocharged engines.

VW also said some all-wheel-drive Passats may have damaged fuel tank ventilation valves.
