By Joe Benton September 24, 2007
GM is adding an extra $1,000 incentive on selected 2007 and 2008 models for Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Saturn and Hummer. For the first time, the Pontiac Solstice sports car carries a $1,000 cash incentive. The GM sales promotion runs through October 1. The automaker is also providing zero percent financing for 60 months on the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado crew cab and GMC Sierra crew cab full-sized pickup trucks for buyers with good credit. The hot selling Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook are excluded from the sales program. The cash back program is what is known as “stackable” in the car sales business. That means that in some showrooms a 2007 Buick Lucerne sedan might have as much as $3,500 cash to sweeten the deal. With the new sales promotion the 2007 GMC Yukon SUV now carries $7,000 in incentives. Buicks to ChinaGM is also hoping to sell cares to the Chinese. The automaker has signed an agreement to export more than $800 million in vehicles made in the U.S. to China. GM will export Buick Enclave crossover SUVs to China next year as well as auto parts and other vehicles. GM expects the agreement with China to last three to four years and lead to the export of about 5,000 vehicles annually. Buicks were first sold in China in Shanghai in 1912. Buick later opened a sales office in Shanghai in 1929. The last emperor of China, Pu Yi, owned at least one Buick in the 1920s. In May, GM signed a deal to export $700 million worth of Cadillacs and automotive components to China, the fastest growing auto market in the world. GM's China operations have already imported about $3.5 billion worth of vehicles, components, equipment, and machinery from North America over the last 10 years. Report Your Experience
