SAMS Food Recalls Beef, Chicken Products |
By Lisa Wade McCormick June 23, 2007
The company said its beef-based products contain wheat gluten and soy protein and those ingredients are not in its chicken-based products. These soup-based products are used to make bouillon, the company said. The Washington Post, however, incorrectly identified them as pet food products, the company told ConsumerAffairs.com. The Bedford Park, Illinois, company discovered the problem after receiving consumer complaints about the product label switch. The company and the federal Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) have not received any reports of illness related to consumption of these products. But they say anyone concerned about allergic reactions should contact a physician. Here is a list of the products involved in the recall:
The products were made between November 6 and November 29, 2006 and shipped to a distributor in Indiana. Consumers with questions or concerns can contact SAMS Food Group at 1-800 852-0283. Report Your Experience
