Complaint of the Day

Gardener's Choice

By Mark Huffman

February 23, 2007
With spring gardening season just weeks away, it might be time to warn consumers about Gardener's Choice, a mail order plant store that has left a trail of unhappy customers. Patricia, of Jacksonville, Texas, recently filed this complaint.

"I ordered $175 worth of plants and trees from this company last year. Most of them were dead or dying when I received them," she told ConsumerAffairs.com. "I emailed the company several times but received no response. This year I received a catalog from them. Why are they still in business after ripping off so many people?"

The company is based in Hartford, Michigan (not to be confused with a company by the same name in Belleville, Michigan).

Our advice to those who have had a bad experience is to report it to the Michigan Attorney General and the FTC. You can do so on our Resources Page.

And this spring, why not visit a local plant store or nursery for seeds and plants?
