First Premier Bank Card

Credit card offers come in the mail almost daily. People with less than perfect credit can be lured into a dangerous trap unless they carefully read the fine print. Karen, of Southfield, Michigan, jumped at the First Premier Bank Card offer because she was trying to re-establish her credit.

"I was more than surprised when the card arrived with a $172.00 balance already on it," Karen told ConsumerAffairs.com. I made the first payment on the card in the same amount of the balance due, then discovered that the card still had no available line of credit for use.

Karen and several other consumers who have contacted us recently say not only were they charged a $172 fee for the privilege of carrying the First Premier Bank Card, the card came with a $300 credit limit, making it practically useless.

We've been onto the company for years, pointing out the pitfalls in the fine print back in 2002. But the problem obviously persists. We've gotten 15 other complaints like Karen's in the last three months.
