July 26, 2004
A spokeswoman for Sun Health said the scammers appear to be after names, addresses, dates of birth, pin numbers and email addresses -- as well as social security and drivers license numbers. In each case the caller represents themselves as working on behalf of Sun Health. Police say impersonating an employee from a legitimate organization can be an effective way for identity thieves to harvest information. They advise consumers never to reveal any personal information over the phone.
