More than 60 former clients and employees of It's Just Lunch (IJL) -- which touts itself as a specialized dating service for busy professionals -- have filed complaints with ConsumerAffairs.com in recent years.
These complaints include:
Failing to match clients with busy professional singles who meet their specific criteria as promised;
Claiming IJL is selective about its clientele and only accepts professionals;
Misleading clients about their prospective dates. For example, claiming they're a certain age or profession when they are not;
Telling singles there are several clients who meet their specific requirements, when there aren't;
Sending clients on dates with people who do not meet any of their requirements. For example, one client said she didn't want to date anyone who was a Republican and religious. The first date IJL arranged for her was with a man who was Catholic and a Republican;
Failing to disclose someone is still legally married;
Telling clients they needed to be "more flexible" about their requirements in a date;
Telling clients they needed to change their criteria in a date, but only after IJL has received its upfront, expensive fees;
Refusing to give refunds, even when it fails to send clients on dates with singles who meet their specific requirements;
Misleading singles about the number clients in its files;
Misleading singles about IJL's ratio of men to women;
Ignoring singles' complaints about their dates;
Refusing to talk to singles who are unhappy about their dates.
