"Mutiny" Aboard The Queen Mary 2 |

January 27, 2006
Originally, the company said it was willing to make only 50 percent refunds. The QM2, the worlds most expensive ocean liner, left New York January 15 and is scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles February 22. But three days after leaving New York the ship brushed the side of the channel as it rounded Florida. The resulting damage caused the captain to reduce the ships speed for the rest of the voyage. To make up for the lost time, the cruise line announced the ship would not make scheduled stops in Barbados, St. Kitts and Salvador, Brazil. It said passengers disembarking in Rio de Janeiro would be offered 50 percent refunds. But irate passengers reportedly demanded full refunds and threatened a sit-in. The company relented and said full refunds would be made. Cunard did not disclose the amount to be paid to the passengers. Report Your Experience
