Imbibing must be the best way for to keep warm during the cold Boston winter, judging by the long list of upcoming culinary events.

From mid-January through March, two hotels will host ongoing promotions. The 17th annual Boston Wine Festival while be centered at the Boston Harbor Hotel, while the 12th annual Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel Celebrity Chefs Culinary Festival provides potential competition.

The Spinazzola Foundation Gala Festival of Food & Wine will have its 21st incarnation at the World Trade Center Jan. 27, followed by the 15th annual Boston Wine Expo at the same location over the next two days.

Wednesdays are special for the 33 restaurants and lounges involved in the Hot Off the Vine Tasting festivities that start in January and last three months, while the Fireplace Fireside Chat wine tastings are set for Saturdays over the same three-month span.

The Seaport Hotel Boston hosts the WGBH Wine & Food Weekend Feb. 16-19 and the 15th annual Super Hunger Brunch is a citywide event slated for Feb. 25-26.

Chocolate lovers won't be disappointed - even after Valentine's Day. Old Town Trolley's Chocolate Tours run every Saturday from January-March, while the Langham Boston Hotel hosts its 17th annual Chocolate Bar in a parallel timeframe.

The food frenzy reaches a climax with the annual Boston Winter Restaurant Week, to be held March 5-10. A myriad of St. Patrick's Day parties and celebrations will follow a week later.

Boston baked beans may not be on the menu for the many out-of-town athletes expected in town early next year, though making protein-rich food choices will be essential.

In addition to various professional sports, the city will host the USA Indoor Track Championships Feb. 23-26, the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four TD Banknorth Garden April 2-4, and the 110th running of the Boston Marathon on April 17.

For further information, contact the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau, Suite 105, Two Copley Place, Boston, MA 02116-6501 (Tel. 888-SEE-BOSTON, www.bostonusa.com).
