Volvo Recall to Fix Fuel Leak Problem

December 2, 2003
Volvo is recalling around 71,000 cars worldwide to check for fuel leaks, following reports of driveability problems resulting from fuel leaks into the engine. No accidents have been reported.

The recall includes about 15,000 cars in the US, 9,000 in Sweden and 8,000 in the UK.

The company has sent letters to the car owners of 2003 and 2004 models of the V40 and S40, asking them to take the car to the closest Volvo dealer for a procedure that involves installing a clamp to prevent leaks.
