General Motors is recalling about 1.77 million pickup trucks, SUVs and vans to replace windshield wiper circuit boards and motor covers.
The recall is an extension of a windshield wiper replacement program that GM conducted in 1998. Vehicles fixed in that recall are not included in the current one.
The recall affects some 1994-1997 Chevrolet C/K and GMC Sierra pickups and Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban/GMC Yukon and Suburban SUVs; 1995-97 Chevrolet Astro and GMC Safari mid-sized vans and Chevrolet/GMC full-sized crew cabs; and 1996-97 Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmy mid-sized SUVs, and Chevrolet S10, GMC Sierra small pickup trucks. Also included is the Isuzu Motors Ltd. Hombre small pickup.
GM said it knows of no fatal accidents resulting from the faulty wiper components.
Owners will be notified by GM this summer.
