Fran of Mckenzie TN (4/6/05):
My sister is in early stages of Alzheimer's and I arranged for her move from Rhododendron, OR to Martinsville, IL. The realtor was to supervise the packing, etc. I was told that the pick up date would be on March 14 or 15, 2005, so I arranged for the realtor to be present on that date. No one from the moving company showed up or even bothered to call. After calling the company numerous times they told me that they would pick up on the 29th or 30th of March and that they would call me on the 28th.

No one called, but they did show up on the 30th. When I called to see if they had picked the load up they told me that they couldn't get their truck into the house to pick up the furniture, this was on March 31. After getting the runaround they told me they would have someone there on Saturday, April 2, 2005. They called on Sunday to let me know that they were on the way to pick it up. The realtor called on April 6, 2005 to inform me that they had left numerous items in the house and in the garage and wanted to know what to do with it. When I called the company they told me that they would check into the situation. When I asked what the delivery date would be they told me that it would be sometime between now and April 16, 2005. The original contract called for delivery by March 31, needless to say they hadn't even picked up the furniture by then.

Matthew of Kaneohe HI (12/12/04):
I am writing this letter to report my wife's and my discontent with the moving companies that we used to transport our belongings from Minnesota to Hawaii. The name of the company that was in charge of our move (the broker) is Moving Cost. Also, the name of the company Moving Cost contracted with to ship our belongings is Classic International. Before moving, we were told that our belongings would arrive to us in 30-40 days. Their estimated date of arrival was August 2 to August 7. The movers picked up our stuff on June 28, and did not deliver it until September 17. That's 80 days, which is 40 days outside the window!

Since then, we have been seeking a reimbursement, which Moving Cost has said they would be able to get for us from Classic International. However, after multiple times contacting them and Classic International, they have not come through on their promise. When I call Moving Cost I am usually transferred to a representative's voice mail. My messages are never returned. When I have been fortunate enough to get in touch with a live person, I was asked to call Classic International's customer service representative (Kenny), and told that they will also contact him with my request. Apparently they have done so. After contacting Kenny twice, he twice asked me to send him my request via e-mail (which I twice did) and promised to respond to my message. He never did respond.

Bill of Durant OK (6/25/04):
I made a contract on the 2nd of June 2004 with Moving Cost to pack and deliver my possessions from Jordan, MN to be delivered to Durant, Okla. They said in the contract that my things would be packed on the 10th of June, 2004 and delivered the 16th of June, 2004. I paid a deposit of $501.02 and a remaining balance of $3,285.97.

I was contacted on the 12th of June, 2004 and told them the key was under the deck -- on the driveway side of my house. I contacted Moving Cost several times and they keep telling me that A. Samson Moving & Storage Inc has my things in storage in Chicago, Illinois and that it will be another week for delivery.
